Hi all.

For those familar with the area, I was hoping you could help me out. We plan on spending 2 days at Busch Gardens, 1 day at Water Country and 1 day at Kings Dominion. How many days should we plan for Colonial Williamsburg and Jamestown Settlement? Can they both be done in a day? Also, with 1 extra day, which attraction(s) shiould we plan on?

Thank you!

I would plan 1 day each for Williamsburg & Jamestown.

You might want 2 days at Colonial Williamsburg. We have only ever been able to get in about half of it in a day. The first time we went we were focused on the main street that has most of the trades and the taverns on it, and the 2nd time we saw more of the governor's residence, the gardens around that, and some of the trades on the back streets.

We spent one day doing each. Jamestown we felt we completed in a day. Williamsburg we only got through about half of what we wanted, and would have gone a second day if we would have had the time available. Of course, it depends on how interested you are in history as well. For three history nerds, we never seem to have enough time, but for others who are not so inclined, a half day in each would be more than enough.

My 2 cents, for what it's worth, is to skip Six Flags...... it's nothing compared to Busch Gardens in our opinion.
The whole Williamsburg & Jamestown area is just a great place to check out. Have fun!

No plan on going to any Six Flags.

I agree. Kings Dominion is underwhelming compared to BGW. I’d skip it.

FYI, there are two Jamestowns. They are both different experiences run by different groups. If you only want to go to one, check out the websites for both so you can decide on which one to go to.

Kids want to do Kings Dominion to hit the coasters. I do too. Went there many years ago and really liked it.

I'd add 2 days for Colonial Williamsburg and Jamestown. Still haven't been to Yorktown but there's always another day.

Yorktown will take about 1/2 day and is very interesting. Make sure to talk to the people in the encampment. They play their roles very well.

You can feel like you've completed Williamsburg in 2 days. If you want to rush and only see what you want to see, you can do it in a day. Jamestown will take a day.

There is a multi-site ticket that will get you into Jamestown, Yorktown and the ticketed sites in Williamsburg.

I would spend one day at Williamsburg, and one day at Jamestown. Plus there's also Yorktown. Giving yourself time allows you to get out and explore the early settlements (and other sites) without feeling rushed.

I love Kings Dominion. Twisted Timbers is amazing.

But to give my opinion on the original question the two times I’ve gone to Colonial Williamsburg I planned on half days and regretted it. Wished I had given it a full day.

Have fun whatever you choose!

Twisted Timbers looks amazing. Scared to death of some of the things I've read about I305.

We stayed at one of the hotels in Colonial Williamsburg so we spread our time there over a few days.
One day at Busch Gardens and then we did Jamestown and Yorktown in one day.
I would suggest looking into the Ghost Walk in CW, it is done and night and a really good time.

Oh, that sounds awesome ... my kids are old enough they would probably enjoy this rather than being scared. I will have to look into that next time we are up there!

I thought it was more fun than scary but IIRC they did have an age minimum that kids should be if they were going on it.
OMG I just looked up my pictures and we went in 2011. I can't believe it was that long ago!
My kids were 8,11 and 13 at the time. They thought it was 'cool' to be in the buildings at night.

It's been so long it probably has changed alot since we did it, but it is definitely worth checking out.
