Will you stay at HOJO for regular rate?

Skoocher, have you stayed at the Anaheim HoJo?

I just stayed a night at the Convention Center Hilton, then two nights at PPH, and I'd take HoJo again, especially at the entertainment rate, easily. (though the hilton was awfully nice, and with our smokin' hotwire rate (same rate as Motel 6 wanted that weekend through hotels.com) it was most excellent, though just a tad bit more base rate than hojo AND with a parking fee russa frussa grumble grumble)

There are much nicer hotels in the area for the same $$ as the HoJo normal rate. I know many of you on this site like to walk to the park, and I fully respect that. I admit my family are bit of hotel snobs, so we will drive or take the shuttle to stay at a little nicer of a hotel. If you, like me, are willing to drive or take a shuttle to the park, there are a lot of similarly priced hotels a little further away that are, IMO, nicer than HoJo's. Again, this is just my opinion. To each his/her own I say.

But the big difference here is we normally stay at the Ent Rate of $59-74 a night which is much better than any other hotel/motel in the area. Unless you're staying a Motel 6, which is fine but I'd rather pay the same rate and stay at a nicer hotel. HoJo is very nice, especially for that rate. And yes, I'd rather walk so I don't have to pay for parking.....

I would not stay at the hojo for the regular rate. But then again, I wouldn't stay there for the entertainment rate either...haha.

Lucy, have you stayed there?

Pixie, I got the Hilton through hotwire (went for a 3.5 hotel in the area, since it was almost for sure either Hilton or Hyatt) for $55 base rate last Friday, and that was GREAT! I had to stop looking for the ent rate for that night (never showed up) b/c my book hadn't arrived and then I made the hotwire reservation. :)

Of course, the Hilton has a $15 parking fee as opposed to the ZERO dollar parking fee at HoJo, but then, HoJo wasn't available for anything close to the special rate, and was closing in on what we were going to pay PPH for the other two weekend nights! Zoiks!

I would do the same thing Bumber, if I can't get that rate at the HoJo then I start looking on HotWire and Expedia to see what I can get. :) But I always try the HoJo first! :)

Lucy, I wouldn't stay at many other HoJo's but the Anaheim HoJo is great, the rooms are large, the beds are amazing and the staff is the one of the BEST hotel staffs I've ever had the pleasure of experiencing. :)

When I go to Disneyland, I'm barely in my room. So for me..I'm all about finding the closest place at the best rate. And the Hojo has never had the best rate therefore I have not stayed there.

Plus...it's a little too close to the freeway for me.

I stayed at HoJo's for years before I heard about the EC rate. This after staying at all the other hotels on the strip. This was before the pirates cove - my girls would rather have a pool. Until the the other pool area gets a jacuzzi, I'll only stay at the EC rate. Now, if I was just going with my wife, I'd stay at HoJo's with the AP discount.

I've only once had an issue with freeway noise, otherwise the HoJo is as freeway noiseless as all the other Harbor hotels I've stayed in. :) Especially in the pavilion bldgs, they are between the others so there is definitely no noise there. :)
I hear you on the best rate thing but that's that precisely the reason we do stay there. Because you can get the $59-74 rates.....no other hotels on Harbor have that, at least never when I've been booking. The only place that's come close was the Motel 6 and Super 8 but neither of them are on Harbor or walking distance IMO. :)

We always stay at the Anaheim Plaza. Short walk. Cheap rates. Quiet. Plus I like having the fridge and microwave in our room.

Since it looks like the Anaheim Plaza is just as close or far as Hojo, next time, check out HJ's discussion boards list of dates for the Entertainment Rate, and maybe you'll find something good. :)

The building that looks over the lovely garden pool has never been noisy for me, other than the noise from swimmers in the afternoon. No freeway noise for us, AND you can hear the music of Disneyland all the way back to your room. :goodvibes

The pavilion rooms ($59, 2 oversized doubles) are the only rooms that do not have a microwave (they do have a fridge). All other rooms have, not only the super comfy beds (from what I have heard anyhow) and both micro and fridge.

This does not answere the original question of weather I would stay there at regular rate.
Well, my answer with out having been there before.....
yes.
The pool is a big draw for our family as well as the interior corridors. I love being able to have my curtains open and not have every single stinking freeky person that walks by peer into my room---EEK!!
Breakfast is not a factor for me.
Free and plentiful parking I like as well as internet connections.
Now, after we stay in April I will be giving my opinion based upon the walk. But from those I know, it really should not be an issue.

Thanks for the idea. But I'll probably pass on that one. I really don't think it'll be as cheap as the Anaheim Plaza.

Also, we rarely book our trips more than a month in advance so that would probably be a problem too.

No hotel beds are ever super comfortable for me. Unless hotels have started using Tempurpedic beds. Now THAT would be a hotel worth staying in.

You can lead a horse to water . . . :rolleyes2

This is when I just decide to be thankful that there may be a greater chance of a HoJo comfy bed for me (pillow-top mattresses - which are similar to those used in the Westin Heavenly Bed) as well as an entertainment rate for me (which varies $59-$79) -- less or equal to than the Anaheim Plaza).

I do recommend the Plaza quite often to those who find that they can't secure an ent. rate at the HoJo, although I warn them that it's just a standard hotel room with doors facing the parking lot, uncomfortable beds, and dirty floors.

You're rolling your eyes at me because I don't want to stay at the Hojo?

$59 is not as cheap as the Anaheim Plaza? What's the Plaza rate, I have never seen a Harbor hotel for less than $59 and I've even checked the Plaza. Oh and we rarely book our weekend trips more than 1-3 weeks out and we've never stayed at the HoJo for more than the $74 a night rate.......you know, I have called the HoJo on the drive down to Anaheim and booked the Ent Rate. LOL

Tempurpedic??? OMG, those beds suck......I slept on one once and had the worst aches the next day!! I hated it, slept on the floor the next night...seriously. I'd take a pillow top (which is what we have) over Tempurpedic any day. That's just personal preference of course, I just think it's interesting that we have such different tastes in beds. LOL

You're rolling your eyes at me because I don't want to stay at the Hojo?

And yes, I'd say she is.....I am too but it's because no matter what we say you have some reason to not stay at the HoJo, so why are on this thread that's all about the HoJo? lol Just to argue? That's fine, it's just a little funny that no matter what any of say to counter your reasons to avoid the HoJo you can find another one. :) You have your reasons I'm sure but you won't convince those of us who love it there....just as we aren't likely to convince you to try it. :)

You're rolling your eyes at me because I don't want to stay at the Hojo?

I'm rolling my eyes because you have arguments against it that are completely invalid (proximity to DLR, price, freeway noise). Bumber asked if you ever have stayed there and you said you always stay at the Plaza. So we are left to assume that you are making these arguments without first hand knowledge of the property. I only comment on properties that I have personally visited or had close friends report to me about.

I don't care if you don't want to stay at the HoJo, but to come on a thread and try to deter others when you haven't stayed there yourself is a bit bold.

We're *thinking* of going to DLR next Saturday and come home Sunday. Hojo has the entertainment rate available for that night $69 in building 2 with a garden pool view. The Anaheim Plaza has their rate for $89. I've never stayed there, but their rooms look smaller and there's no microwave....
