I voted no due to expense.

We live in Canada, so we make the trip 3 times a year. With the cost going up,it makes more sense to go once a year or once every other year.

I am really sad about it, but as it is Disney costs us a lot of money, so I'm not sure I can justify a price increase to DH when there are so many more places in the world he wants to visit.

My family will not be renewing. I'm glad that we purchased the AP as we have been able to make multiple visits this year and will have experienced the holidays, Halloween and Carsland.

Because we live in Utah we can't visit often enough to justify the price increase. If we lived closer maybe it would be worth it.

I will most likely renew when my renewal time comes around. Besides Premium and Deluxe monthly payment plans are under $50 which to me is a good deal! So what if my fun and entertainment comes at a $649 up front price tag, I will pay it!! I Will! I Will!

The wife and I just purchased our first AP's a month ago so we dodged the price increase, but honestly with the monthly payments and the fact she works in the hotel industry, so we can get a hotel a few miles out for under 200 for 4 nights, we can still do 3-4 trips a year and have it save us money even with the price increase, so we will probably renew.

My current SCA AP expires 1/6/13 (I've been an AP holder for over a decade). I knew we would renew and I was planning on getting passes for the kids this year (we've had them many times before, but didn't get them for the kids last year because of a big trip to WDW), so I went ahead and ordered AP vouchers online at the old price that can be redeemed anytime before 12/31/12. I'll have a 6 day overlap with my AP, but I felt the $ savings would be worth the overlap. My kid's passes will expire before my new one because we'll probably activate theirs this summer and I won't renew theirs at the new price (may even be higher summer 2013), but I usually don't get AP's every year for the kids. We usually take at least a year off, so they don't get "bored". When my renewal comes at the end of 2013, I don't know what I'll do. I'm a DL addict and go several times a month, but these prices are crazy. My first AP was a Deluxe and was $149. I did downgrade a couple years ago from a DAP to a SCA AP because of the price increase then, but they keep adding blockout dates to the SCA select that I don't know if I'll ever go down that far. I may have to bite the bullet and not renew at all. If I do I may have to enter an addiction recovery program :lmao:

I voted yes, and I will be keeping my Premier Pass as it is still a great vaule.

We bought the Premiere AP last year and looking at our plans for the coming year it probably still makes financial sense for us to do it again. We do WDW mostly and easily spend 30+ days a year in those parks. Looking at the cost to "upgrade" from a WDW only AP to a Premiere AP its roughly equivalent to two 3-day visits (about 6 months apart) to the CA parks. And then there is the discounts...

At least that's my Disney Math. :teacher:

I had a deluxe for about 5 years and it renewed in June. It was getting too expensive so I let it go last June and then when they opened up the monthly payments I got a Premium on the payment plan in Jan. We took a trip then and in Feb and we are taking one in June and then one in Dec right before my current pass expires. It will be well worth the trips we got out of it this year and HAD they not raised it I prob would have renewed with the payments BUT now no matter what I will NOT be getting another premium and i have to decide if I will renew and drop back to a deluxe or just let it expire again until we take another trip.

It bums me out in a way cuz I would have had to renew right now and could have done at the old prices had I still had my old pass BUT I guess I still have about 6 months on my current one so I will just get the use out of this one and see what happens come Jan. We have a trip for my daughter's cheer comp in March and may or may not go back next summer and then I am hoping to do the 5k in Sept so it might be worth it to go ahead and renew but I am really torn.

As I said on the other thread they are def pricing me out. :(

I am not currently a passholder,but I will be next Feb.Even at $469 for the 3 of us,spread over 11 days,it is $128 a day. That's a great deal.

Admission to the crappy local fair=$40
Tickets for the rides=$60(or more)
Broadway show=$315 (STOMP)
1 1/2 hour movie with snacks=$60

I understand why people are upset(I hate price increases) but I still think it's an awesome deal.:goodvibes

I'm not sure yet. Last October we bought DAP's because it made sense. I'm going to have to actually sit down and do the math before I decide if we will renew or not. Theres always the possability I'll renew mine and DDs and not DH's (as we sometimes will go without him). So I'm up in the air really. If I do renew I wont do it until we need to however. No sense renewing in october if we wont be in the parks until January, ya know?

I said yes; however, we will probably go to every other year, unless DVC starts offering better discounts on APs at the DLR.

NO KIDDING!!!
Maybe the huge increase will chance the DVC discount to be more in line with the WDW APs - at least that's what I'm hoping for!! We don't plan to go back to DL until 5/2013 (and then again in 2/2014), but at these prices we might have to deal with whatever discounts we get with our DVC membership or the Disney visa and just get hoppers.

Our DAP was fun while it lasted and a great value for our family of five. With this price increase and the lack of retro rates at Howard Johnson we are reducing our three trips a year down to one. Now DH is thinking that Disney World or cruising may be the way to go. After three trips a year for the last 8 years I am starting to lose the love. :sad2:

I usually make between 2 and 5 trips down a year. The Deluxe AP is still cheaper than two 3 day hoppers, plus since I'm in CA, I can spread the pain over 12 convenient monthly payments, so YES. I'll renew! LOL

I made a rant on my FB page then realized no one on FB care about my Disney rant. Been a while since I have been on this board but my goodness when I saw the price increase i did and am angry! I understand they need to recoup cost of the new park but we are still in a recession... Not a happy camper and after 10 years I will not be renewing... May as well go to Disneyworld for that matter.

I am on the fence. Our passes had expired in December, and I just re-upped the first week of May. We have the So. Cal. Select, and that works great b/c my kids are in elementary school, and I can still pull them here and there to go up to Disney (90 minute drive). I was thinking of upgrading this year, but it's really too much $$ for a family of 5. I will see how much higher it goes next year, and then decide. I think the value for the So. Cal. Select is still a good one, but the higher level passes are starting to be a bit much.

ETA: Thinking about this a bit more, what we did this year was buy the 3 day parkhopper with the one early morning that was $189 for kids, $199 for adults. We enjoyed our 3 days and a Saturday MM, which was WONDERFUL and then upgraded the PHs to the So. Cal. Select, which was $199... knowing we'd go to DL at least 3 more trips of 2 or 3 days each. With that reasoning, even the $269 is worthwhile for the cheapy pass. I am not a fan of crowds, and I don't really like DL in the summer, too hot, too crowded, so they probably still have me at $269. Still think it's quite a shocking amount for a one year bump, especially in this economic climate.

Didn't answer - I'm going to WDW in December and my premium AP expires in November so going the Premier route for 1 year ( I heard it's not up the full 150 at least) but then may take a break - and I've had a pass at either Deluxe or Premium for 20 years now.
I think I'll wait for the specials - 2 fers and maybe even the any 4 summer day type local deal for a year or 2.
I'll miss the 20% off though.

We bought Premiums this year because we are making 4 trips between 3/12 and 3/13 with 2 trips having a blocked deluxe days. It's just the two of us and is the best value for us. We don't travel anywhere for vacation besides Disney. It's also not a far drive for us. We'll downgrade in 2013 because that would be 1300 just for tickets and we don't like to be there on weekends. We also don't intend to stay on property ever again because I felt the Hojo was no better than PPH (no lie I'm very picky about this) so this will make up the difference.

Even though we will downgrade I still think the price hike is ridiculous. 30% increase in one year is too much. We saw the price signs literally change overnight during our visit. I feel bad for families with children. If Disney is trying to reduce the number of AP holders I don't think it will work, especially those with the option to make monthly payments. I think this option is why there are more APs than ever before. Disney needs to offer more flexible ticket options rather than this huge increase.

I'll renew our Premium passes even at the new prices, but honestly only because I blow money like it's going out of style and $150 per year per pass pales in comparison to the other ludicrous ways I waste money :) That was the most honest answer possible. A more justifiable way to look at it would be that $150 doesn't buy what it used to, over the course of a year it's really a negligible expense, you go to the park 1.5 extra days and it's paid for. And yep, I realize that's what Disneyland is banking on, but hey, they know the game and know we'll play it.
