I am so glad that my husband and I are going to WDW at the end of this month. It would have been sad not to be able to go to PI one last time. I agree with the last post by Straughn that AC is great and hopefully they will move the venue. One can hope....but the longer you go to Disney the more things change. And even if you can understand why Disney had to change doesn't mean you wish it had stayed the same. Oh well....

I am definitely bumming about this one! With DH & I being child-free it "was" one of the only places to go to get away from the kiddies for a little while (no offense to people with kids). We have made it a tradition to visit the Comedy Club & the Adventurers Club every visit and had always had a great time, unfortunately when they opened up the the walkway a few years ago that started the downfall of Pleasure Island. There were many more parents bringing their children into the clubs and then shortly after that they tore down the West End Stage, we truly loved celebrating the New Year each evening!

For DH & I, the two clubs mentioned above will be sadly missed.:sad1:

You said exactly what I was going to say !
PI was never the same when it stopped being adults only.
I will morn the loss of the Adventurer's Club, ironically we arrive on Sept 28, 24 hours to late for one last visit.

I miss the old PI - the one where adults were able to be adults without being under the watchful eye of children. I thought it was a unique place to spend an evening enjoying libations, live music, New Year's Eve every night and things like that. IMO, it was fabulous that Disney was doing something that catered to adults - Disney is supposed to be fun for all ages but I never thought that meant everything had to be fun for all at the same time and place. It really went downhill once they took the gates down and allowed children and teenagers started to hang around.

As for this PI closing...I figured it was a matter of time. Additional restaurants are probably a good idea since the DDP packed out the restaurants on property now. More shops? I can't imagine what else could possibly sold there that you can't get someplace else on property or don't really need to be shopping for on vacation.

I for one will SORELY miss the AC. It is my favorite. I have a trip planned in July. I plan on going AT LEAST one night. I will bring my dh, even though he has never been before. I should probably not get him hooked... but how will he ever know what I am mourning if he hasnt experienced it first hand?

I truly hope they put this some place else on property, so that die hard AC fans can still get their Kungaloosh on!

I'll miss AC and CW, but none of the rest. I pretty much hate the bar scene and all the drunken fratties and skanks. The whole place felt very 'un-Disney' to me.

I was already missing the "old" PI. We haven't spent much time in PI since it became "ungated". It lost its appeal for us then. Adults need a place without kids (sorry to any parents out there) to just let loose. I'm not saying get fall down drunk (you can do that in Epcot :rotfl2: ) but a place to dance and have a good time. How busy will Jellyrolls be now?

Personally Adventurers Club will be greatly missed.I can take or leave the others.

I will miss the AC. If they're not going to keep it at PI, how about moving it somewhere else? Doesn't really fit at Boardwalk. Animal Kingdom? AKL? I wish they would find a home for it.

I certainly will miss the Adventurers Club. It's a good reason why I go to WDW each year. One of the biggest highlights of my trip as you can judge by my avatar.

Here's another online petition to help save it. How much good it will do remains to be seen. Perhaps they could relocate it to the Boardwalk next to Jellyrolls or something. It would really fit in there.

SuperDave - Please, in addition to the online petitions consider writing letters to the Disney Execs to let them know how you feel! Apparently there has been more of an outcry over the Club closure than they expected. While emails and online petitions are great, real letters are taken much more seriously. The rumor among some who are "in the know" is that there is a chance the Club could survive in some form, but that the fan response, especially letters, could tip the balance one way or the other.

If anyone does wish to write letters, the Save the Adventurers Club page linked in my signature has a list of suggested addresses.

I have mixed feeling about this change. I have been to Pleasure Island once and it WAS a lot of fun...I liked having the variety in entertainment choices. However, whenever I visited WDW it was for the resorts and parks only. It makes sense from a branding and corporate perspective for Disney to expand on the sectors that do work.

I have to say that I have a personal reason for missing PI. I met my husband there back in 1995 and it breaks my heart to know it won't be around anymore. I spent the summer of 1995-96 there and I loved it.

But the other draw for us was back when they had the R&R Beach Club. PANAMA ROCKED!!! :woohoo: :woohoo:

We will be married for 10 years in August (just before they close) and we will be stopping by to take some pics for the memories...

I guess we will make more memories at CityWalk!! Margaritaville, here we come.

Pleasure Island. I don't have anything against the place, but we always preffered more time at the parks or other places.
