Nope. I have a couple of disfriends who joined- I'll wait to see what their experience is. Just by my nature, I doubt it'll be anything I'd spend my money on it tho. I like paying for experiences.. not reading about them.

I am a self professed Disneyholic but I agree with posters that say it is like getting people to pay money to buy more stuff. I won't be joining with these uncertain times and that big of a price tag just to buy merchandise that is overpriced. :confused3 JMHO

I also think $15 for a magazine is not that bad, but it depends on the magazine. If it's the high gloss kind with nice content, sure, why not.

thats more expensive than 99.9% of the magazine you find in a store and boatload more than the Celebrations magazine. Plus, I would think the d23 thing will be very heavy on promotion where Celebration is all about content

Who needs another magazine anyway? At $15 you will want to keep it forever. More paper that must be shelved. And what about the content? Articles on ESPN? Pixies? Princesses? Disney History? The latter is always interesting, but there are so many books written about the glory days of WDI.

I doubt there will be any articles on DisneySea from Long Beach to Tokyo. How the diffent Ports of Call were developed. The imagineers who worked on the Tokyo project and where they are today.

I think I will keep my $75.

Can you buy Celebrations Magazine and Laughing Place Magazine anywhere other than online? I was getting Orlando Attractions Magazine at our local bookstore but they closed due to having a baby.

I won't be joining at this time. Maybe in the future, but I don't have the interest right now.

I won't be joining but I am interested to read reviews from people that join. This is Disney marketing at its best.

I AM 23! Joined on the first day, and can't wait to receive the welcome kit (and find out what the special gift is)!

I'm a sucker for all things disney. I sent them money with in hours of them opening D23. I would be rich if I cut out all of my disney obsessions, but they would have to make more lay offs. I consider it stimulating the ecconomy!! :lmao:

I was going to treat myself to a subscription (a reward for getting a new job last week!) - but when i looked at the website, the postage to the UK is over $50 ... on top of the $75!! :P and then $/£ exchange rate just isn't good enough at the moment to pay that much. i think i might buy the $15 magazine next time i'm in the usa instead!

i think it's nice that disney has recognised the popularity & importance of online disney communities and wants to do it's own official one.

it is not what i expected the "are you 23" campaign to be about tho!

Barbie :)

Seems like a very poorly thought out marketing ploy. No interest at all.:sad2:

We will not be joining either. They also want $50.00 for "international" shipping to Canada!

I joined, and think it's fun. I don't see why people who don't join seem so irate. $90+ 1 Day Park Hopper is OUTRAGEOUS! Ahhh...but alas....we go. I think some of the other threads have been plain mean. If you didn't join~ ok. But let the people who did enjoy their fun. I've always booked lower cat's on the ships, but my actions for doing it have never been called "valueless", "lame", "stupid", poorly thought out"..... Wow.... I'm sorry but to each their own. I've never seen such an overwhelming response to something. I'm just shocked.

What does D23 offer that's not available elsewhere for free? All you're doing is paying to receive advertising! It's got to be the best marketing ploy ever created, getting people to pay to receive advertising. Oh, I forgot you also get the "opportunity" to purchase other overpriced trinkets. At least when you pay for a ticket you get something for your money, something you can't get otherwise. I'm not criticizing people who have money to waste by joining D23, if you enjoy it go ahead and spend your money.

I read an article at Mice Age today, and they seem to hit the nail on the head. Which fan is D23 for? The Collector? The Disney Channel Fan? The Theme Park Fan? Each of us probably has one area that we like over the others. I like theme parks, but couldn't care less about Disney Channel. Somebody might HSM, but not Classic Characters. Some like Villains, some Princesses, and so on. There are so many subcultures of fans within the generic "Disney" label, that some people are going to feel like they are being ignored.

Personally, I think $75 is too much money to spend until I get a clearer picture of what my money will buy. A glossy mag and the opportunity to buy over-priced merchandise, just doesn't do it for me.

Just a side note-You can spend $850 for a Disney pen, or you can buy a laptop for the same price. What are they thinking?:confused3
