Will You Chill Out if I Sprinkle You With Pixie Dust? The End p136 *New TR Link* p138

I am trying to catch up today.
Wanted to make a reply before I forget after reading more.

I am so happy the bro and family enjoyed the trip enough to want to go back...even after tossing cookies :lmao:.

I agree, book your cruise...tell the others you are doing it now and they need to commit or at least know you are.

I went through that last year booking ours. Different dates thrown out, some saying maybe...gotta look at plans. Mostly my sister. So she planned a date that seemd the best...so worried about taking her DD out of school. And guess what, her school got a new principal this year who is VERY against kids being taken out of school for vacations. Go figure. My sister now says to obad. And niece goes to a Catholic school, and this one is in a higher in of town...these people take kids out all the time for vacations. I have a feeling there will be problems with him very soon into the year.

Ok. more catching up to do.

Pepper Market has some great choices to pick from, I think it's a buffett during the morning and afternoon hours (just ask Pat) :scared:, and all for a counter service credit. Pretty good if you ask me. :upsidedow

Best dessert of the trip - no question. And believe me, every other dessert there looked equally amazing. :thumbsup2

I think its a great place to eat if you are on the dining plan. It really is a great QS option. I'm glad we finally got around to trying it and I really want to check out the lunch buffet.

Poor Pat :rotfl: I remember reading about that in her TR. She just missed the close of the buffet by 3 minutes :faint: and then ended up eating the peas in DTD. Poor Pat!

The Pepper Market was one of the best QS options that we tried. I would not hesistate to go back there and try another entree and another amazing dessert. All the desserts actually looked like heaven on a plate, so there is not way you could go wrong.

Pepper Market is a great choice as long as you play by thier terms. :rotfl2:

I need to do that over too. When I drive so I can make it there without delay.

The desserts are great over there.

I wanted to comment on the pool thing but lost the quote.
If it was the filter that is a big job. Some made to order parts take a while and I know it is annoying but at least it wasn't like the BC where they had to drain and so construction. :scared1:

As for BO - he is a special greater at DHS and I got the bug about Bo from Charleston Princess.

Ok, I have never noticed or heard of the Tune In Lounge! DHS is one of those parks that we usually spend minimal time in, only about 3/4 of a day per trip most of the time, so I know there are alot of things that I've just overlooked there. I'm going to have to scope out the Tune In Lounge now :thumbsup2

Its right next to the Prime Time Cafe. In fact, I think the bar is right near the waiting area for the restaurant. I understand they have some pretty interesting drinks there. I must try one! :)

Bummer on your pool being closed again, that was quite an inconvience :sad2: You did end up with a lovely view at the Congress Park pool though!

I think it was more of an inconvenience for Denny then me. I know they were doing what they needed to do to get it fixed. On the other hand, it is really nice to be able to walk 2 minutes to a pool. Oh well.

Pepper Market is a great choice when you are on the QS dining plan and there are so many options that it is great for a large group too. That dessert looked to die for!

The Pepper Market really is a great option for the QS dining plan, I really enjoyed that meal and I would not hesitate to eat there again. And, for the record, they had SO many great desserts to choose from. Yum!

My thoughts exactly! ::yes:: I have a hard enough time keeping up with the crazy princess without injury getting in the way. I think Rich was just scared he would have to pick up my slack:lmao:

Well, of course that's what it is. :rotfl2: If you get hurt it will really inconvenience him. That can't happen. Plus no mom wants to be unable to run after their kids, as much as we wish we could get a break. :rolleyes1

Great Updates !!!I think I might be able to do Star Tours !!:confused3:rolleyes1:rotfl2::yay:The smileys sum up how sure I am !!!:lmao:

Rosie - I that that as a "maybe". :rotfl2: Seriously, you can do it unless you have severe motion sickness issues. It's a great ride. You really should try to check it out.

You sound just like me. I read a paragraph and forget it. :rolleyes1 That's such a pain when I read in the morning and then wait till later to comment.

I am so happy the bro and family enjoyed the trip enough to want to go back...even after tossing cookies :lmao:.

I am really glad they had a good trip and they want to go back. It's such a great vacation destination and they really should take advantage of it while their kids are still young and want to vacation with them. Because don't we know that can end much too soon.

I agree, book your cruise...tell the others you are doing it now and they need to commit or at least know you are.

I am going to contact the AAA agent I use this week. I have to use her because I get rebates off my AAA credit card that I want to apply to the cost. I already have $200 for the deposit. :woohoo:

:rotfl2: Oh boy. sounds like it is going to be an interesting school year. I disagree with the principal. I think it can be very cost prohibitive to take your kids on vacation during the typical "school" vacation times - Christmas and NYs. Not to mention that it is very crowded at popular destinations. I think when you are paying tuition you should have some leeway since you are the school's costumer and I don't think you should have to feel guilty to take a one week vacation during the school year. However, I think you should not do this in high school and it should not be done with a kid who is not a solid student. I also think the school should set parameters for notification, length of absence, and make up work.

Ok. more catching up to do.

You did well! :)

You really should plan for a do-over. I still can't believe you missed the buffet by that narrow of a margin. :faint:

So a part for a filter may not necessarily be a stock part? Are filters that different? That's probably what the problem was. They started working on the pool on Sunday, but kept it open for awhile before they closed it. I didn't realize a filter was so complex. Thanks for the input. You would know better than anyone else. Ugh - to having to drain a whole pool. Yikes! :scared1:

As for BO - he is a special greater at DHS and I got the bug about Bo from Charleston Princess.

In reading through the response posts about trying to give away Fast Passes, it reminded me of our 2010 trip. My husband had volunteered to sweep streets in the city he works in and we had Give a Day Passes. Since these were valid for 6 GAD Fast Passes, we tried to find a couple we could share the magic with when we were going to Hollywood Studios.

We were on the boat from the Beach Club to HS, and I saw a woman there with two kids. I explained what we had, and figured she would shut us down, but she loved the idea. Even when my DH had to take her park tickets to the Guest Services window!

They were nice at the window, and actually gave us 7 of the FP.

I was really afraid we wouldn't be able to find someone willing to trust us, and I was so happy when we did. The woman was so grateful. Her husband had joined them for the trip, but I believe had to leave before their vacation was over, so this was going to make her day much easier.

Whey, I was a little behind. I think I'm caught up now.

Love that you brother and family have the Disney bug now. I love sharing Disney and spreading the love.

Your beach get away looked great. The condo and resort are fab.

I'm so glad your DHS day was such a success. Sounds like things are on the upswing.

Here hoping the Epcot is also a great day.

I gave FP's away in March for Space mountain. the coouple thanked me, and I told them a couple times they had to be used right then...and they walked right to the stand by line. :crazy2:

That's awesome. So nice of you to share and its so good that you picked someone who really could take advantage of the FPs. That was such a great promotion. I wish I had gotten in on that before it was too late. Oh well.

Love that you brother and family have the Disney bug now. I love sharing Disney and spreading the love.

It's pretty cool, isn't it? When I started planning this trip I had no idea the bug would bite. In fact, I expected just the opposite. You never do, do ya? :confused3

Your beach get away looked great. The condo and resort are fab.

It was a lovely place, especially considering we didn't want to spend a lot of money for a second vaation. It worked out perfectly. :goodvibes

I'm so glad your DHS day was such a success. Sounds like things are on the upswing.

Things really improved with the DHS day and I honestly think its because we got there for rope drop. It just makes the day so much better. :thumbsup2

Here hoping the Epcot is also a great day.

I'm going to write about that very soon. In fact, I hope to start right after these replies.

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat? :faint: That's just plain crazy. Apparently they had NO clue how to use them. Unbelievable.

Well Mary Ellen I don't usually get motion sickness so that is a plus !!!!~

Then Rosie - you are good to go! You'll love it. :thumbsup2

So, I just had page one of an update ready to post and my safari closed on me. So no update. I am so bummed. I was showing you pictures of the University of Maryland from our recent college tour. Ugh. I don't know whether to post them again or just start my update.

Oh well, here goes. I'll leave out a lot of the original commentary.

University of Md. 100 miles from our house. Acceptance rate 41% - 1/3 of which are students of diversity. Out of State tuition with room and board approx $37K/yr. Application deadline November 1st.

OK - so that was the quick version. In the long version I calculated out Nick's chance of acceptance given that he is not a child of diversity and falls below the average GPA by a smidge.

Moving on......

This updates title:

Melting Again

Hard to believe that it is already Day 6 of our trip. Here’s a brief recap:
Day 1: Night time arrival / off site stay
Day 2: Treehouse check in and MK at night.
Day 3: Full day at MK
Day 4: AK day /DTD
Day 5: HS – Finally hitting the Disney grove.

So that brings us to Day 6 and my bro’s last full day in the parks.

Since I didn’t run yesterday, I decided to go run towards Congress Park today. I still wasn’t exactly sure where the SSR boat launch to DTD was. I wanted to run the path to the golf course, but continue to find my way to Congress Park.

It looks like I traveled via the Main Pool and Registration.

I needed to put together a complete mental map of SSR. When I got over to the Congress Park area I couldn’t help but stop and take some pictures of the view.

I ran back a different route and finally found the SSR boat dock. I really wasn't exactly sure where it was.

When I got back to the bridge I decided to keep going towards OKW. On the way back I tried to get a picture of our villa. This was the best I could do with my phone

Then it was over the bridge and home

Run complete, I went back to the villa to see that everyone was in the “Rise & Shine” Spirit. Could it be? Could we possibly make it to rope drop 2 days in a row? It looked highly probable!

Well, I’ll cut the suspense (mostly because I don’t have any pictures to use as fillers). Yes – WE MADE IT TO ROPE DROP AGAIN! Can I get a WOOT WOOT!

Side note: I had reached the point in the trip where I was getting tired of lugging stuff into the park and going through the hassle of bag check. I had my tiny backpack to unzip and my camera bag. I seemed to be getting less and less efficient as the time wore on and I was always in constant fear of losing something during the unzip/zip process. Plus I felt I was slowing everyone down and constantly getting in the longest lines. OK – rant over.

You can see from this picture that the line to get in the park was out to the ticket windows. Ugh!

Once inside, I collected park passes and sent Nicholas to do the Soarin’ FP thing. I knew it would be crowded and congested over there, so it just seemed like the smart thing to do. I told everyone else we would head over to Innoventions and await Nick’s return.

Well, apparently, my plan did not suit everyone, but by now it was too late to change it. Once we got inside Innoventions East my bro and his family headed to the Storm Chasers attraction and I took LJ over to ride Sum of All Thrills. I knew LJ would love this because he loves thrill rides and he loves computers and math. I let him design the ride, which ended up being rather tame by my standards. Oh well. Next time.

When LJ and I exited Nick still wasn’t back and Denny and LJ got back in line. Then my brother showed up with CJ complaining that the Storm Chasers attraction “went down” and all he had really wanted to do that morning was go ride Soarin’ first thing with his “honey”. OK, well Bro, perhaps you should have said that before I sent Nick off for FPs. Yes, I know we could have all gotten on the ride first thing, but I am just not a fan of all the claustrophobia over there in the morning. I honestly thought this made sense and I apologized for not knowing that he wanted to ride very first thing.

Then he looked at SOAT and said, “and I wanted to go on this, too”.

I replied, “Well, then GO! Go now before the line gets too long. Go take Denny’s place”

I ran over to where Denny was in line and said, “Can bro take your place”. Of course Denny said “Yes”.

Then I ran back to bro and said, “Go take Denny’s place. Seriously, he is fine with it. He’s done this a bunch of times”.

So what does bro say, “No. It’s too late. The opportunity is past”.

“What do you MEAN the opportunity is passed? Go. GO right now”.

“No”, he stammers.

Somehow, I was not shocked at all, but I was certainly not amused. I know my brother has anxiety issues, so I couldn’t even believe that he suggested going on SOAT. When he did, I did everything I could to convince him to go, but he just wouldn’t.

So what did he do next? Well, he continued to wine about being in the park for an hour and not getting to do what he wanted to do. What did I do? I apologized yet again.

And then I just walked away. I decided to go to the restroom even though I didn’t really need a bio break. I just needed to walk away.

But at that very moment who should appear right before my eyes? Who do I almost walk right into while I am storming away from my brother?

Well, Mr and Mrs Disney themselves – Anita and Mark (Wigdoutmom and MrIwontrentacar) accompanied by their son Baylor and one of my Eastmeetswest girls, Jen Jolt.

Crap, I almost walked straight into them.

I was so happy to finally meet them. I mean, it feels like I have known them for years. I gave everyone a big hug, including Baylor, who at this point must be totally immune to receiving hugs from total strangers.

Of course, I adhered to one of my favorite DIS adages- If you don't take a picture, it didn't happen!

523BC44C-BB91-4BD8-8836-2477934A2DB4-5334-0000122DB484FF93.jpg

It happened folks, it happened. Baylor, of course, is taking the picture.

I explained what was going on with my brother and then I took them over to meet Bro and CJ. Shortly after that, Denny and LJ appeared and so did Nick and the rest of the family.

One big happy DIS group (cough…..cough…..) we all headed over to ride Spaceship Earth.

I will say, my brother was perplexed by the fact that I had met friends from Kansas and Texas and was now happily chatting away with them.

Oh – and the best thing – Jen Jolt (and I know she has said this on FB so I’m not giving away any secrets) is having a baby. How great is THAT? The only bad part is she won’t be coming to F&W this year, which is certainly understandable. I’m so happy for Jen because she truly is a very special, kind-hearted person.

So, would you like to take a little ride-along with me on Spaceship Earth? Of course you would. You have endured several updates with primarily cell phone pics. Let's show some real pics now.

Bye Spaceship Earth - I will see you again in October so I can once again experience the burning embers of Rome.

When we got off LWTL it was finally time to Soar?

Would everyone love it or would we have another motion sickness encounter? Stay tuned......

OMG... I am shaking just looking at the U Maryland pictures...Not that the campus isn't lovely...it is...(I'm also fighting some kind of stomach bug...;) but after all the college tours I've been on with Emily ... and we're probably going to be going back this fall to check a few places...:scared1:

(the first couple times was fun and novel...but then it gets a teeny bit where am I today and then scary when you start thinking about all of it-emotionally, economically, etc....:confused3....

(Also I know it's hypocritical but doesn't that out of state tuition thing kinda kill you? I understand why... but it doesn't make it easier when your child is checking out of state schools...oh like UVa and you know how much more it would cost you to send them there then the in-staters...)

I Love Love how you ran into Anita and Jen after DBro was being challenging...What a great pick me up ... :)

I can never miss Space Ship Earth...:goodvibes I Just LOVE all that history and its such an optimistic view of humanity...I always have to do even if some people think its a sleeper...

Fun Update...

Congratulations on another rope drop morning!!! :thumbsup2 I'd be too much of a wimp to go on SOAT though!

Yay for a DISmeet!!! :yay:

I really think that the SE cameras have been getting more and more Swiss cheesier! Your poor heads!

Hmm, sounds like Bro needs to be involved in the park-attack strategy sessions to head-off the whining. Sheesh. The strange thing is that you immediately remedy his complaing with the whole "go trade places with Denny" thing and he won't. :confused3

:cool1: I'm glad that you got to me Wigd and MrIwont and JenJolt! Perfect timing too...sounds like you were about to blow a gasket.

Clearly, there was a bio break involved and I took this picture to illustrate what a sherpa I was becoming.

(the first couple times was fun and novel...but then it gets a teeny bit where am I today and then scary when you start thinking about all of it-emotionally, economically, etc....:confused3....

I wish we had more time to tour this fall, but Nick plays soccer so I don't think we will tour again until late November. Nick's big schools are pretty straightforward - UD, U of Md, and Virginia Tech. There are so many other schools I would like him to look at, but the price tag is ridiculous. Denny graduated from Villanova, but we crossed that off the list because of $.

He will be looking at smaller schools that have D3 soccer programs because its a possibility that he may want to play at the college lever. The next several months will tell that story.

(Also I know it's hypocritical but doesn't that out of state tuition thing kinda kill you? I understand why... but it doesn't make it easier when your child is checking out of state schools...oh like UVa and you know how much more it would cost you to send them there then the in-staters...)

Tell me about it. Trying living in Delaware where the only school he is considering is U of D. This is the worse state to live in for college tuition because all the other options are out of state. I would love to be a VA resident because they have amazing tuition rates.

UD is like $42 a year (with room and board) for out of state. Plus, my older son goes to Salisbury University in Md. He was accepted right away last year as an out of state student when several of his in state friends were put on the waiting list. Its all about the $.

I hope you fell better soon! :goodvibes

I Love Love how you ran into Anita and Jen after DBro was being challenging...What a great pick me up ... :)

I knew Anita was there and we had texted back and forth a few times, but her showing up there was a surprise. I can't believe I finally met them. It feels like I have known them forever. And seeing Jen was wonderful. I met her in May 2010.

I can never miss Space Ship Earth...:goodvibes I Just LOVE all that history and its such an optimistic view of humanity...I always have to do even if some people think its a sleeper...

I agree. It is definitely one of my favs. I could ride it several times every trip and I would never call it a sleeper. You summed it up quite well.

Fun Update...

Thanks.

Congratulations on another rope drop morning!!! :thumbsup2 I'd be too much of a wimp to go on SOAT though!

Can you believe we made rope drop twice in a row? :woohoo: Unbelievable!

You could do SOAT. It looks way worse from the outside than it does when you are on it. You can make a very gentle ride.

Yay for a DISmeet!!! :yay:

I was so excited to finally meet Anita and Marc. I feel like I have known them forever, so it was pretty cool.

I really think that the SE cameras have been getting more and more Swiss cheesier! Your poor heads!

I think so too. Our heads are as full of holes as they could possibly get. :rotfl: Can they fix that?

Hmm, sounds like Bro needs to be involved in the park-attack strategy sessions to head-off the whining. Sheesh. The strange thing is that you immediately remedy his complaing with the whole "go trade places with Denny" thing and he won't. :confused3

I was so irritated with him that morning. I knew once he got on Soarin he would be good, but getting there - sheesh. So frustrating! :headache:

:cool1: I'm glad that you got to me Wigd and MrIwont and JenJolt! Perfect timing too...sounds like you were about to blow a gasket.

I feel like I have been waiting forever to meet Anita and Marc. It was great to finally meet them in person. They are just as nice as I imagined and it was great to see Jen again. :thumbsup2

Women always brag about being such great multitaskers, but this is getting ridiculous! :lmao:

:rotfl2: That was a bad bag day for me. I was so sick of carrying that stuff around that day.

I'm so happy to hear you made it out for a run AND made it to Rope Drop!

:woohoo: for you guys!!!

Hmmm- a dicey start there (and I don't mean the SE pictures).

Too bad about your brother's disappointment, but SoAT, Space Ship Earth, Living with the Land and 10:30 FP for Soarin' sounds like a pretty darned good morning to me.

And an awesome DIS meet to boot. Hooray!

Thanks for all of the wonderful pictures of Space Ship Earth. This is truly one of our family's favorites.

Good luck with your college tours and all of the upcoming prep!

.

Yippee for another rope drop morning!

I'm sorry, but if your brother didn't speak up about what he would like to do, then he has now room to whine - just my opinion......

Oh, so glad you ran into my cruise buddies! Marc and Anita are awesome, as is Jen, and my boys had a great time with Baylor last year.

Great pictures from SSE! Mine are always awful, I just can't figure out the right settings

Hurrah for rope drop! Wonder if I will ever make one... :rolleyes1

Sorry things got off to a rough start with the bro. Clearly no lasting psychological harm was done since he is planning his return. ;)

I love impromptu DIS meets. :thumbsup2

Fingers crossed everyone enjoys Soarin!!!

Oh and good for you to fit in your runs on vacation! :worship:

YAY for a second rope drop, and for a DIS meet! You were on a roll that morning! :)

You are living up to your sherpaness my friend. I may stage an intervention in Oct. Bag free. Can she do it?

:rotfl:

I have to laugh at your brother. That is SUCH the kind of fit Jeff would throw. Apparently when I wasn't looking Jeff turned into a touring plan guy and neglected to share it with me that he had a plan and an agenda. It's kind of funny when it comes from someone you don't expect and then they act like the 2 year old. Not really funny at the time but...kinda.

I wonder if your brother regretted not taking Denny's place. Sometimes, and I know I'm guilty of it, you are illogically mad..and want to hold on to that mad, relish it. Being offered the chance to do something that negates it can go against that grain. Which makes NO sense but is human nature.

How cool you got to see Anita, Marc and Jen! That will help anyone cool down, talk about an immediate distraction from a funk.

Ah you are both giving me heartburn! K's top picks are all either private or out of State. We got lucky iwht Taylor, even though he is at Seattle Pacific University ($39 :scared1:) he should shave 1-2 years off thanks to running start and this year did get a small grant which helps a little. K's going to kill us unless she gets some soccer money. It's possible...with her grades...but it'd only be some in a best case scenario.

It is a pretty campus though and 100 miles isn't too horrible.
