Will You Chill Out if I Sprinkle You With Pixie Dust? The End p136 *New TR Link* p138

Walking away... always a good idea. :thumbsup2

Yay for a surprise DISmeet! That sounds so fun! I don't know Jen, but congratulations to her on the baby!!!

I won't lie... sometimes the animatronics on Spaceship Earth freak me out! Some of them just look too real... :lmao: Your pics are great though!

:rotfl2::lmao:at Glenn's multitasking comment!!!

Glad to hear you got a run in and made it to opening!

You poor thing - dealing with the brother attitude drama! So cool that Anita and gang had such perfect timing to boost your spirit and distract you!!! I'm hoping we meet Anita and Marc in October - you too of course!

Soarin - I do get a little motion sick, but it's not bad on that ride. Of course, I've started taking my dramamine every day at the parks just in case!!

Good luck with the college search! I hope your son finds the right fit for him!

Thanks. I am sure he will. It's interesting how I feel so much more pressure for things to go right for my younger son. Probably because he is such a good student. I just want to make sure he explores all his options and that's where the anxiety comes from I suspect.

Gosh I'm sorry your bro was being so difficult this morning. If he wanted to ride Soarin' first thing he should have spoke up! That would have really annoyed me also. I hate when people don't want to have anything to do with the planning, and then complain about how the day is going! :headache:

Yeah - that happens a lot, doesn't it? I was really hoping he would have told me if he had a strong opinion, but maybe he just assumed we were going to Soarin and when we didn't, it freaked him out. :confused3

new reader here, I have read almost all of your trip reports and really enjoyed them. Can't wait to read about your Oct trip, as we just made our plans for Oct 2013!! I had to post because I'm pretty sure I have eaten at that restaurant in Kent Narrows. Our church ladies used to have a retreat up there every spring and I think we ate at every restaurant they have!!
Just wanted to drop in and say Hi!
Tiffany

:welcome: Tiffany. Thanks for joining in! I'm so glad you decided to post. So glad you enjoy my TRs. They are a lot of fun to write.

That must be a lovely place for a retreat. I really don't know the area that well, but we are big fans of traveling down 301 instead of 95 whenever we go to the Baltimore area. It is so much more scenic and a lot less traffic. There were a ton of restaurants to choose from, so we just picked one. It was good and the waitress was awesome. No food pics though.

Thanks! :)

was Denny the sherpa?

:lmao: I want picture proof. LOL!

Well, there would be NO proof since I left both my baggalini and my camera in the villa. I did, however, bring a water bottle and my cell. So you will find a surprising lack of photos in my end of the day update. That is, unless any of my cell Illuminations pics end up coming out. And that is highly unlikely. :rotfl:

Well, I actually didn't have anything scheduled to the minute but had never considered that he might! And, as much as it pains me to admit, he may have been right.

:rolleyes1 Yes - I am sure that was painful. :rotfl: I actually think its cool that he had some strong ideas as to what he wanted to do. Sometimes Denny is a little too laid back. I like it when he really has a strong positive (or negative) opinion to something in Disney.

probably, human nature.

You are so very correct.

me too, but a very good reason!

The best reason there is.:grouphug:

Yeah, we will see, right now Seattle U is by far the highest but has a decent chance of getting money. If not, it's off the list if you ask me! I think U of O is the most expensive public on her list and again, would be off if she doesn't get some $$. It is early though, it will be interesting to see how the college ID camps go but Cal Poly and Gonzaga are at least more manageable $$ wise and Gonzaga has a good chance at $$. Cal Poly is probably the top choice right now program wise.
I can't blame Nick for wanting an active campus life. For in state, K really only has 2 options she's remotely considering (though there are 5 state schools) and UW has become crazy hard to get into. She has a good chance but I'm not sure she's all that interested in going there. probably b/c both her mom and I went there and she wants her own thing. LOL! WSU has a great Ag program but again, she doesn't seem to have any interest in attending there. Which, based on location I get. So that puts her out of state or private. UGH.

I have never heard of Gonzaga. I have to look that up. Cool choices. I think it would be so cool to go to school on the West Coast, but when it comes right down to it, it just feels so far. Plus, I know nothing about any of those schools. I am sure they are all excellent choices.

On the other hand, U of D has a great AG program. They are known for that. And D1 soccer. ;)

Sounds like a lot of nice options.

I think he has a good chance of getting into all three. U of Md will be the hardest. Va Tech wait lists a lot of kids. They don't send out their acceptances until April. Nick really doesn't want to go that far, but we have a neighbor who goes there so it would be transportation home on breaks for two years and I don't think he should make up his mind until he goes to the admitted student day.

Have nothing to lose by applying except the application fee! Which do add up. Is he able to do the bulk application thing where you do one mater application and then can send it a bunch of places? Is he going to have to get all of these in by 11/1?

Some of them accept the common application, but I think they all charge. I actually need to go through and add it all up.

Only Md has the 11/1 deadline. UD is 12/1 and I think Va Tech will be around the same. The smaller schools may have rolling admissions and Jan deadlines.

I wasn't referring to the bags themselves as much as what it appeared you might have been doing while taking that picture.
omgblinky.gif
:rolleyes1

:rotfl2: Well, coming from someone who has his picture taken at the fountain in Morocco with his back turned TOWARDS the camera, that would be a very astute observation. Clearly, I still had my camera over my shoulder when I sat down. And since it was so close to my hand, well....ahem.....the rest is obvious. :rolleyes1

Starting trouble here too Glenn !!:rotfl2::rotfl2:

Trouble with a capital "T". I sure have laughed a lot today! ;)

I'm just saying'.....that picture was taken from a very low angle! :rotfl:

I guess I won't post the next one I took. :rotfl2:

Whoo hoo rope drope again! :woohoo: I have to say, all your morning run pictures make me really excited to run while staying on property in the future. They just make the place seem so quiet and peaceful. The shots of DTD are beautiful!

I really enjoy an early morning run on property. All of the resorts are so great for running. The only one I did not enjoy was when I stayed at Kidani a few years ago. There was literally no place to go, so I ended up running on the treadmill. Every other resort has wonderful paths set up. I guess you can't have animals and running paths too.

Yikes, more drama. Guess that was to be expected... At least the situation didn't end horribly because you had a DISmeet. They are always so much fun, and it is amusing to run into fellow DISers when you're with people who are surprised with the meets. My mom got a kick out of it last May when I saw folks I recognized. :goodvibes

The DIS meet was perfectly timed and my brother's mood improved after he finally rode Soarin. The rest of the afternoon was near perfect.

Denny and Nick know I have DIS meets, so they are used to it. My brother just thought it was totally bizarre. Oh well. :sad2:

I'm curious to see how Soarin' went for you. I've never had an issue with the ride, but Alex gets horrible motion sickness on it, so I'm always interested to see if it has a negative effect on others.

Really? Does he? OMG - that must STINK! Actually, I will tell you that everyone did great on the ride and there was a really nice heartwarming story to go along with it. But you'll have to wait for that.

WOOT WOOT...you made a second ROPE DROP!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can you believe it? Even if the rope dropped really far away from us, we still made it. :cool1:

Sorry it wasn't a better start to the day with your brother. But love that you had a DIS meet and you remembered the picture for proof it did happen.

It was a little bit of a rough start, but it really did get better. :) And, if you think I was going to forget the picture proof. When Hell freezes over. :rotfl:

I can't wait to hear whether everyone survived "Soarin".

I will take away the suspense and tell you that we all survived very well. And our Soarin ride had a very happy ending, too. :thumbsup2

Multitasking

What can I say? The camera was over my shoulder and it was getting in the way. :rotfl2:

Walking away... always a good idea. :thumbsup2

It was definitely the right thing to do in that situation and it worked out perfectly. Can you imagine if that walked up while my brother and I were having our "discussion". Oy! They probably would have ducked for cover. :rolleyes1

Yay for a surprise DISmeet! That sounds so fun! I don't know Jen, but congratulations to her on the baby!!!

I was so thrilled to finally meet everyone. Marc and Anita have been on the boards forever (although not as much now) and so has Jen. We really enjoyed Jen's company during our girl's trip. I am very excited for her and her little one.

I won't lie... sometimes the animatronics on Spaceship Earth freak me out! Some of them just look too real... :lmao: Your pics are great though!

When I look at the expressions of the animatronics in my pictures, some of them are actually a little creepy. I will have to agree with you there. But from a distance I never seems to notice any creepiness, which is good!

:rotfl2::lmao:at Glenn's multitasking comment!!!

Once I realized what he meant I could not stop laughing this afternoon. I had to walk away from the DIS. :rotfl2:

Glad to hear you got a run in and made it to opening!

I pretty much rocked this morning, didn't I? :rotfl: Kidding. I actually have no idea how that happened. :confused3

You poor thing - dealing with the brother attitude drama! So cool that Anita and gang had such perfect timing to boost your spirit and distract you!!! I'm hoping we meet Anita and Marc in October - you too of course!

You trip is timed perfectly to meet Anita and Marc. Cynthia and I hope to see them again too, before they leave.

And I am hoping that you will be able to come to the DISmeet, even if you can't stay long. I am very excited for that!!!!!!!

Soarin - I do get a little motion sick, but it's not bad on that ride. Of course, I've started taking my dramamine every day at the parks just in case!!

Really? Wait, I think I knew that. When you take it every day does it still work as well? I'm really not sure. I don't get motion sickness, but I might have to take it when I get OFF the cruise next October because that's when I will really start to rock. It happened to me once before and it was so unnerving.

I was going to do replies, but I am still laughing too hard after reading Glenn's reply. :rotfl::rotfl2::lmao:

I need to go compose myself!

I'm happy to take the blame that you couldn't do replies for a while. :)

Clearly, I still had my camera over my shoulder when I sat down. And since it was so close to my hand, well....ahem.....the rest is obvious. :rolleyes1

I was kind of hoping you'd tell me "this isn't what it looks like", but I guess not. :lmao:

I guess I won't post the next one I took. :rotfl2:

Thank you!

I'm happy to take the blame that you couldn't do replies for a while. :)

OMG - I laughed more today than in the last two weeks! I'm so glad I don't have an office mate to ask me what's so funny. And I'm glad no one else is home right now.

I was kind of hoping you'd tell me "this isn't what it looks like", but I guess not. :lmao:

Well, to tell you the truth, I really don't remember what was happening when I took that picture, but your height observation and the fact that I always have that camera around my neck made me conclude that.....oh well.....never mind! :rotfl2:

Thank you!

You're welcome!

This trip report is better than a Sitcom! :rotfl2:

Between you and Glenn I may really need to take another break from the DIS. I can't stop laughing!

Gonzaga is a Catholic university in Oregon. Bing Crosby went there.

How great is that, meeting Anita, Marc & Jen by happenstance. That's some Disney magic right there!pixiedust:

I've never made rope drop, don't know why, we usually are awake by 5:00am. Just take a while rolling out of our room.

The UM campus looks alot like Miami of Ohio. Our third son went there, great school. Check into some Montana schools, especially for engineering. Their out of state tuition is very economical. Also, petrolium companies offer good scholarships.

Woo Hoo for your second rope drop!! I was just thinking, 'my gosh, they adapted MUCH faster than I think my bro and sis in law will, if they join us next year', when he reverted BACK to my brothers twin. ;)

Yea for an awesome Dis meet, especially since it was unplanned and congratulations to JenJolt on her pregnancy!!! :goodvibes:

Looking forward to the 'Soarin' report, as so far, no bushes have been mentioned. :lmao:

You trip is timed perfectly to meet Anita and Marc. Cynthia and I hope to see them again too, before they leave.
Wouldn't that be fun??

And I am hoping that you will be able to come to the DISmeet, even if you can't stay long. I am very excited for that!!!!!!!

I'm sure going to try! We think we may spend a few hours in Epcot after the meet (I'll need to hit more F&W booths!)

Really? Wait, I think I knew that. When you take it every day does it still work as well? I'm really not sure. I don't get motion sickness, but I might have to take it when I get OFF the cruise next October because that's when I will really start to rock. It happened to me once before and it was so unnerving.
Yeah, it does work for me - I have not taken it more than 6 days in a row. I've never had problems after the cruise, only during!
Soarin' can be tough when there are those sudden scene changes. If I just look away for a moment, I'm okay. But the dramamine sure doesn't hurt! :)

All this college talk - I know it's going to be here before I know it! But this is our first year at middle school!

Omg how did i get so far behind? But i am caught up now. Love yor photos! Can it be that will miss you again next year by a few days again? We are looking at earlirr in october 13. Sorry for the horrible spelling. Its late and i am on my nook and cant be bothered to fix them!

Did you like u maryland? Its a pretty campus. I hope it works out.

How funny that your brothrr is ready to go back! See now he gets it!

Nothing like an unexpected dismeet to help end a meltdown. What good luck!

Gonzaga is a Catholic university in Oregon. Bing Crosby went there.

Good to know! ;)

How great is that, meeting Anita, Marc & Jen by happenstance. That's some Disney magic right there!pixiedust:

Well, I actually knew they were in the vacinity because we had been texting, but I didn't know they were coming over to Innoventions. That was a total surprise. And I sure needed that pixie dust! pixiedust:

I've never made rope drop, don't know why, we usually are awake by 5:00am. Just take a while rolling out of our room.

But you usually go in September, so you don't need to make rope drop. You can just stroll in and do whatever it is you want. How great is that!

The UM campus looks alot like Miami of Ohio. Our third son went there, great school. Check into some Montana schools, especially for engineering. Their out of state tuition is very economical. Also, petrolium companies offer good scholarships.

You know - Your post got me looking at these schools last night. I really liked the Miami campus. It's pretty cool. This is another school I have never heard of. I guess I have been leaving on the east coast too long and I don't watch college sports, so I'm out of the loop.

You are correct about the University of Montana's out of state tuition - it is $28K a year. That is extremely reasonible. I am not sure if going to Montana is in the cards for Nick because I don't know if I would be comfortable with him going so far away, but if he really wanted to. It looks like such a gorgeous area and it is only 4 years of his life.

So, Doris, thanks to you I spent almost the whole evening on the internet searching out colleges outside my general geopgraphic area. Interesting stuff.

Woo Hoo for your second rope drop!! I was just thinking, 'my gosh, they adapted MUCH faster than I think my bro and sis in law will, if they join us next year', when he reverted BACK to my brothers twin. ;)

You had to know it was too good to be true. :rotfl2: Oh well. Honestly, that was the last meltdown. Of course, he was leaving the next day.

Yea for an awesome Dis meet, especially since it was unplanned and congratulations to JenJolt on her pregnancy!!! :goodvibes:

Nothing like a good DIS meet. I had one in December and got another one in June. And I am hoping for more in October. It's been a good year for DIS meets! pixiedust: I am very excited for Jen!

Looking forward to the 'Soarin' report, as so far, no bushes have been mentioned. :lmao:

:rotfl: Nope. No bushes involved. Thank goodness, since there really aren't any bushes INSIDE the land building.

Yeah, it does work for me - I have not taken it more than 6 days in a row. I've never had problems after the cruise, only during!
Soarin' can be tough when there are those sudden scene changes. If I just look away for a moment, I'm okay. But the dramamine sure doesn't hurt! :)

Hmmm....I'll keep the dramamine in mind. Better safe that sorry. I think I had the scopolamine patches the last time I went on a cruise which was years ago. I don't even know if they still make those and I think I only used one. The cruise was fine, but when I got off and all the motion stopped. Woooooooooo - my head just spun like the exorcist. It was nuts.

All this college talk - I know it's going to be here before I know it! But this is our first year at middle school!

:rotfl: Don't worry, you've got plenty of time, although it does kind-of sneak up on you. Its crunch time now. :sad2:

Omg how did i get so far behind? But i am caught up now. Love yor photos! Can it be that will miss you again next year by a few days again? We are looking at earlirr in october 13. Sorry for the horrible spelling. Its late and i am on my nook and cant be bothered to fix them!

Really? Well, our dates aren't set in stone, but I did finally book the cruise for late October. I figure I either need to go in late September or late October. I don't want to miss the parents weekend at where ever Nick goes to school and those are usually early October.

Did you like u maryland? Its a pretty campus. I hope it works out.

Loved it. He really liked it. We'll see. There are just so many schools that I took right off the list because of cost. Good schools, but I just can't stomach the thought of him taking tons of college loans. It makes no sense to pay 2.5 times of what UD costs? What does that gain someone?

How funny that your brothrr is ready to go back! See now he gets it!

He hasn't said too much about it lately, but hopefully he is busy still planning his own trip. Time will tell.

Nothing like an unexpected dismeet to help end a meltdown. What good luck!

That was the MOST perfectly timed DIS meet. I knew they were in the parks, but I had no idea they were coming over to Innoventions. Total shock and tons of this pixiedust:

I was showing you pictures of the University of Maryland from our recent college tour. Ugh. I don't know whether to post them again or just start my update.

My brother went to U of MD for grad school in architecture. He seemed to really like the school, but not so much the surrounding area where his apartment was.

Out of State tuition with room and board approx $37K/yr.

:faint:

Our tour guide

My friends and I were ruthless to the tour groups when we were going to school. We'd walk by and make random comments as we passes the prospective students and parents, like "...did you hear they quarantined the whole dorm?" :rotfl2:

Could we possibly make it to rope drop 2 days in a row? It looked highly probable!

Well, I’ll cut the suspense (mostly because I don’t have any pictures to use as fillers). Yes – WE MADE IT TO ROPE DROP AGAIN! Can I get a WOOT WOOT!

 Well, butter my butt and call me a biscuit!

Then my brother showed up with CJ complaining that the Storm Chasers attraction “went down” and all he had really wanted to do that morning was go ride Soarin’ first thing with his “honey”.

He seems more capable of communicating his desires after the fact. :confused3

Then he looked at SOAT and said, “and I wanted to go on this, too”.

I replied, “Well, then GO! Go now before the line gets too long. Go take Denny’s place”

I ran over to where Denny was in line and said, “Can bro take your place”. Of course Denny said “Yes”.

Then I ran back to bro and said, “Go take Denny’s place. Seriously, he is fine with it. He’s done this a bunch of times”.

So what does bro say, “No. It’s too late. The opportunity is past”.

Um...what? :confused3

Well, Mr and Mrs Disney themselves – Anita and Mark (Wigdoutmom and MrIwontrentacar) accompanied by their son Baylor and one of my Eastmeetswest girls, Jen Jolt.

:cool1::woohoo::banana:

I will say, my brother was perplexed by the fact that I had met friends from Kansas and Texas and was now happily chatting away with them.

Good thing you went on Spaceship Earth so you could introduce this thing called the "internet".

Clearly, there was a bio break involved and I took this picture to illustrate what a sherpa I was becoming.

Thank you so much for NOT including sound effects. :lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

My brother went to U of MD for grad school in architecture. He seemed to really like the school, but not so much the surrounding area where his apartment was.

We didn't really see too much of the surrounding area. It was weird. We got off 95, followed another road for a few miles and then *BAM* we were suddenly on campus. Same thing leaving. I think I need read the surrounding area is not so nice. That's how Salisbury is too. Except you drive right through the not-so-nice areas to get there.

When it comes time for college it is NOT so great being a Delaware resident. I mean - come on - the only affordable, large school option with engineering is UD and even that's not cheap. I do think the SEED program can be affordable, if the kid is motivated and does well at community college. Then they essentially have only two years tuition at Delaware. On the other hand, the SEED program is a way to disguise the true admission numbers to UD because they include that number in the total number of in state kids admitted to UD. It's not that easy to get in to Delaware. You have to explain why you got a "C" as any final grade in any high school course. My older son didn't even bother applying because he wouldn't ahve been accepted, except into SEED.

:rotfl2: Nice! :rotfl2:

 Well, butter my butt and call me a biscuit!

Well, I'm not quite sure if its THAT exciting, but maybe? ;)

He seems more capable of communicating his desires after the fact. :confused3

Yeah - he's pretty good at that. Probably runs in the family! :rotfl:

Um...what? :confused3

I know, really? You either want to ride OR you don't. What is the big freakin' deal? I think its what Cynthia said. He just needed to be mad a little longer.

It was really fun to finally meet Anita, Marc, and Baylor. They were some for my first DIS friends. I feel like I have known them forever. And it was great to see Jen again.

Good thing you went on Spaceship Earth so you could introduce this thing called the "internet".

Yeah, right? Doesn't matter, my bro works during computer programs for securities. He thinks its crazy to meet people on the internet, as do some of my other friends (like the ones I went to Bethany with ). When I got up to go meet Dawn they made a comment. :scratchin

Thank you so much for NOT including sound effects. :lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

So I took Cynthia and Pam's advice and I booked out first Cruise. So what if it's over a year away. It's finally official. I paid my deposit today and I had $200 in AAA certificates to use towards the deposit. I guess I am just going to have to keep using my credit card a lot so I can keep earning those certificates over the next year. ;) :rotfl:

I am sailing on the 4 day Dream Cruise that leaves on October 27th and returns on October 31st 2013, which happens to be Denny's birthday and its a big birthday for him. So there will be some celebrating going on.

In other news, it looks like I am going to have to rebook our HHI trip, so I haven't made a ticker for that yet. Denny thinks he is going to be too busy at work to go in March. Boo! So, we will have to wait until April. I will have to look at some new dates and rebook hopefully in the next week or so. If he really can't go at all, then I might have to take a solo trip to WDW for F&G festival, but I really want to vacation with him and take him to HHI. I guess the other option is to go back to WDW with my bro next June. Can't believe I'm evening saying that. :rolleyes2

I'll keep you posted on that one.

Gonzaga is a Catholic university in Oregon. Bing Crosby went there.

It is Catholic, but it's in Spokane, WA. About a 5 hour drive east from Seattle. Known for basketball among other things. Academically it's a great school.

YAY! the earlier you book the better, what category did you book?

Hmmn....wish I could sneak away with you for F&G...although I have my own sneaky April plan that I haven't sold Jeff on yet. Somehow I have to get a couples trip in there for us before I bring up the idea of DLR for spring break. LOL!

I'm going to be banned from a girls trip through after this one for a bit if we fit in everything else on the agenda. We will see though. One sister did commit to dates for the big trip so that was exciting, even if it is potentially 17 months away! Hopefully you can do HH in April, I hope to get there someday but it does look like a long shot.

Or you could go to Hawaii in June instead. Just sayin. :rolleyes1

Yay for booking a cruise!!!:cool1::cheer2:

October is a great time to cruise, because it's still warm, but the summer crowds aren't taking up the entire ship anymore. I really feel like you're going to have a great time aboard the Dream. :thumbsup2

It's a bit of a bummer to hear about HHI next spring, though. I imagine it would've been a nice trip, but there's lots of places to visit and sights to see, I am sure something will fall in your lap shortly. (And I'm excluding another trip with your bro and co.:rotfl:)

:woohoo: on the cruise booking!!!

So Denny is Halloween baby too? I was born on Halloween (explains a lot, no?) My big one is 2014.
