Will You Chill Out if I Sprinkle You With Pixie Dust? The End p136 *New TR Link* p138

I wrote this update yesterday at work (shhhhhh!), but I forgot to email it home, so I am starting all over. Bummer!

That's ok, the rest of us are reading it at work.

We were heading back to the MK and I was hoping to arrive as close to rope drop as possible. Of course, my early departure request was met by groans from my nephews.

Amateurs. :sad2:

I saw this little guy on my way towards the Grandstand. I heard the rest of his buddies croaking away under the trees.

Apparently, he had already croaked.

And, of course, the bus went all the way to the entrance near DTD, passed the Paddock, and let us off at the Springs just in time to miss the MK bus that my bro, SIL, and other nephews were on. :faint:

Here's a shot I took after watching a HS, Epcot, AK, and DTD bus pass the first time.

Here's a shot I took after I watched an HS, Epcot, AK, and DTD bus pass a second time.

:faint:

I'm not going to lie when I tell you that when the bus doors finally opened, I pushed my nephews ahead of me in an attempt to get on the bus.

Now I'll have to look for another trip report where they complain about a pushy lady at the Saratoga bus stop. :rotfl:

My bro and SIL missed all of the above.

Well, we already knew that. :rotfl2:

And before I knew it - POW -

df649852.jpg

My second score of the game.

:rotfl2: Amazing! So did you get the prize button at the end?

Ugh, how frustrating about the transportation that morning!!! Hopefully things improved for you guys on that!!!

It was a bit of a frustrating morning, especially after the transportation issues and meltdown the night before, but I was determined to just go with it. However, If I had not gotten on the MK bus that morning things would have gone downhill veru, very fast.

Good job on your score on Buzz!!! I swear, even if the ride was stopped for a half hour, I'd never get that 999,999. I'd be lucky to break 1,000! :rotfl:

:rotfl2: LOL! That cracks me up! I am so NOT a gamer. I stink at all shooting games, but someone once told me never to let your finger up from the gun and it continues to shot non stop. That's the trick to improving your score.

That sounds like a rough morning, at least you were the ones that got stuck on the bus and not your brother.:confused3 I don't think I'd want to deal with that aggravation.

You're right. If my brother had to wait all that time for a bus it probably wouldn't have been good. I did feel bad that they had to wait so long for us to get there because they waited outside the park.

And you are 100% right that the rules for photography should be crystal clear!:upsidedow

I'm glad you agree because there is a huge difference between flash and no flash photography. Unfortunately, there are still those people who don't know how to turn their flash off.

Great update...

Thanks Vassar. So glad you are enjoying the updates! I promise to keep them coming! :thumbsup2

Great update! So many things I want to comment on, I hope I don't forget anything!

1. That frog gave me the willies! :scared1: I'm deathly afraid of frogs. I know, I 'm weird. And that thing was HUGE!!! OMG! If I see one of those at OKW, everyone on Earth will hear me screaming.

I guess it really was an oddity. Maybe the thing started to drown in the rain and crawled out of the water to die there. Usually you just hear them, but don't see them.

2. Trying to get everyone out & headed to MK: I am a very OCD/anal-retentive type person. I believe in being at the park at least 5 mins before it opens. I would've been going insane with people not being ready to go. You handled it extremely well! :thumbsup2 We went to WDW in 2004 with my entire family & I though by the end of the week I was surely going to have an aneurysm from people making me late to the parks. That was our 1 & only family trip. :lmao:

When I first started going to Disney I would have freaked out, but since I have been there so many times and since I was determined NOT to be pushy and overbearing, I decided the best tactic was to let things just play out. It's too bad, because it really colored their opinion of the park. They didn't enjoy it nearly as much as they could have.

3. Looks like y'all had a lovely meal at CP! The food looks so yummy!

I love the food there and I love all those characters so I was a happy girl!

4. I'm glad y'all got some rides in before y'all had to leave. I've never left the parks in the middle of the day but I can imagine in the summer months it's almost a necessity.

I have to take a break in the summer. I hate the middle of the heat day and I love going swimming. It's a rush to get to the pool and back, but its my favorite way to spend the day.

Can't wait to hear if y'all make it back in time to use the Splash FPs!

Well, I will tell you this - we DID make it back to the park. As far as those FP's...well.....

I am up to your famous last words about the rain- and they are making me flashback to our first DISmoms trip- staying at AKV Concierge- when it torentially downpoured for 3 solid days....

And DH & my Sept trip- staying at AKV Concierge- when it torentially downpoured for 2 solid days....

And it is now making me nervous, because guess where we are staying next May for DISmoms 5??????

UH-OH......:worried:

The worst part was that my bro and SIL kept getting to the destination before me. It was actually embarrasing, but all I could do was laugh...or cry!

More power to them I guess. LOL!

I guess I am spoiled by having car transportation for most of my trips. Still, I always take the bus to MK and it has never taken me more than 1/2 hour to get there.
I had 2 horrible waits for MK although in both cases I was actually trying to get to the GF and it became a "by whatever bus shows first" scenario. I think but usually it's AK or TL that kills us...or DTD. All seem to be awful, with multiples of every other bus showing up when that's where we want to go.

:rotfl2: I honestly did not realize he was texting so much, but you're right, that would have made a good contest.

:rotfl2: either that or a collage for the GF to show how much he missed her. She WAS on the trip with you, just virtually!

I did. I hauled @$$ to get to those FP machines and back in 10 minutes. Pretty proud of myself! :lmao:

as you should be

I think TIW saved $40, so it was definitely worth it. I love that character meal and every time I look at their smiling faces I am SO glad I made that ADR!

Yeah, I've looked hard at TIW for this upcoming trip but I only break even so DDP works better this time.

That's exactly what happened. Denny decided he NEEDED a frozen cappucino and everyone followed suit!

Ok that's even funnier that it was Denny who was the instigator!

If there is anytime to do a resort only stay its in the summer. Seriously, for the first time ever I can honestly say that I would have enjoyed some resort only days. You don't have to hassle with the crowds or the heat. Plus - you do have a day in AK and that's going to be great.

I am really really looking forward to it, just hoping the weather cooperates and the boys aren't really secretly thinking that park days are planned and then are bummed at the front end.

The one thing I have to say about October is this - I am SO going on the Jungle Cruise. I missed it this trip and I am riding it at night in October. Have to!
I've never been on it at night, I am SO in. Every time I've tried at night, it's been EMH and it's been closed. WAH!

I did not get up before 7am all week. It was awesome. You will sleep wonderfully in the treehouse. Loved it!

:rotfl: I can't believe I took a picture of it. I remember thinking - Oh Look - here's a cute little frog. Imagine my horror when I realized it was dead. Even frogs aren't supposed to die in Disney!

Good for you on the sleep! That is what you are SUPPOSED to do on vacation!

Poor poor frog.

Wow...I cannot believe it took you 90 minutes to get to the MK? This is what scares me the most about the buses. Mark and I have always rented a car and driven in the past. We did use the bus a couple of times at OKW last September and Mary and I used it exclusively in January. Luckily, we only had a couple of times when we waited more than 20 minutes. But this time we won't be getting a car until the day before we depart. :scared1::scared1:

Love the pictures at the Crystal Palace with the kids...looks like everyone was enjoying themselves. That puffed french toast is my favorite thing after popcorn to eat at Disney.

You did have transportation issues, didn't you? I hope it got better when you return to the park.

Fabulous update even with all the horrible waiting and waiting and waiting. You paint an excellent picture. Your nephews didn't complain about the waits? What wonderful children :)

Amazingly impressive Buzz score! I do so poorly on that ride it's not even funny.

So you hopped on the bus because things were already going downhill that early in the day? I hope you came out of this experience with more positive memories than negative ones.

So sorry about all the transportation glitches. :scared: I don't think I've ever had to wait that long for a bus, a fact for which I am quite grateful. Relieved that you made your CP ADR. Your pictures were so good, and the Pooh that day was clearly so into it, that I had to go back and get my ADR back. :rotfl: Perhaps the most shocking thing: not only was an ADR available, but I was able to get one five minutes earlier. :confused3

This is the second time I have had an extended wait like that. IMHO it should never happen at SSR. They should pump out buses to SSR because of how darn big it is.

:rotfl:OMG! I'm actually glad you got the ADR back. I never regretted a character meal. They always leave me ready to go out of there skipping and singing "zip pe dee do doh, zip....(Oh never mind)".

Crazy lines for the Peoplemover? That's a sure sign that MK is getting ridiculously busy. We hit lines like that back in February, thus I didn't get to ride what has become a must-do for me.

I didn't ride it in December. Not really sure why. I love that ride and I was sorry to miss again, but between the line and the observation that it kept stopping, I passes. We got stuck in a tunnel once in the heat and it was NOT pleasant.

Naps during the Carousel of Progress? For shame! :rotfl: And how dare you try and take pictures... :cool1: Actually, the exact same thing happened to me. I heard the CM announce, rather specifically, that there was no FLASH photography. So I decided to take some pictures with my flash off. In fact, I think I photographed almost the entire right, before I was told that all photography was prohibited. What? :confused3 What did I miss?

They really should say ALL Photography. I've gotten nailed there as well, so I always wait for the first rotation before taking my camera out.

Just for the record, I did not take a nap! But I was full enough from breakfast to do just that.

Nice Buzz score!

Thanks! I like it! ;)

You were right to head back when you did. Its personally my favorite park strategy. Especially, since I think about it now, most of the MK queues are entirely outside. I waited in some long-ish lines for Soarin' in April, but that line is completely inside, so you're at least cool.

I just didn't feel like dealing with the mid afternoon heat and crowds. I knew we would get a lot more done if we took a break and came back in late afternoon. I find the evenings to be very pleasant and I love the parks then.

Great pics of the new Fantasyland areas. I can't wait to check them out!

Thanks! I really can't wait to see the new Fantasyland. It really is something to look forward to. :goodvibes

OMG!!! I didn't even know this TR had started! :scared: I'm subbing and will come back to read later on-

Sorry MEK! Shame on me!!

:welcome: Ellen! Thanks for stopping by. I know I haven't seen you on the DIS boards lately so I didn't even pm you about this TR. I figured you were away. Glad you found your way over here.

I've discovered one thing at Disney... I'm allergic to buses. :scared:

:rotfl::rotfl2::lmao: After this trip I am right there with ya! I never want to get on another Disney bus. Hah - not true - I'll be busing it again in October.

/
I have visions of a bride in a beautiful white gown hiking up their dress so the bottom doesn't get muddy while walking around covered in a mickey mouse rain poncho. Love it!

That was pretty much it! ::yes::

Ack! I'm two updates behind! Forgive me, Mary Ellen, we're having the hottest, driest summer in my memory and I am spending all my free time in the pool! :rotfl:

No worries! I am very envious that you are getting so much pool time in. I have a couple friends with pools and I already mooched once this summer. I had a blast, so I certainly understand choosing swimming over DISing any day.

Ok so going back one...
LOVE the POTC pictures! Great job with no flash. :thumbsup2 I'm glad everyone loved the ride too, a little calm before the storm, shall we say!

Thanks! POC was definitely a hit. My bro ended up loving it enough to have a couple repeat rides on it the next day!

How awful about all the rain! And interesting that the meltdown seemed in synch with the weather. Rain gets everyone down in different ways I guess. :confused3 I'm sorry you had to deal with a meltdown in WDW, but at least it was fairly mild and everyone did get back eventually.

In retrospect it really wasn't that bad. I just felt bad because I wanted their arrival day to be perfect and magical and it wasn't. No one's fault. Just the way it turned out.

Now I'm up to your latest!

I can't imagine being ready to go out the door at 8:15 and not actually leaving until almost 9... I'd go out of my mind! And then not getting to a park until 10:11... wow. I am so sorry that you had such a rough morning!
The breakfast at Crystal Palace looks wonderful though, I hope it made up for all the frustration.

I knew getting to the parks was going to be difficult and I was determined to wait for them, no matter how long it took. However, that was about to change. :rotfl:

[Side note: There are lots of tutorial videos on You Tube for Photoshop! You can search for just about anything there and you can usually find what you need. Removing items from a background can be tricky some times but with a little patience it's not too bad!]

Funny, I was just talking to someone about the very same thing. I am really bad at self learning, but I think I am just going to have to be patient, reread everything a couple times, and just force myself to struggle through it.

I can't believe your transportation anti-mojo continues! I hope it's not too bad!!

It's not over yet! :crazy2:

OK - I'm having computer issues, so I'm going to stop here until I get home to my own computer later this evening.

Oh- I forgot they were taking the train......

I just ran into an aquaintance this morning who is taking the auto train to Orlando this summer- she said it was their third time. :scared: And not because of fear of flying. It's because they don't want to pay for a car rental for 15 days. Umm....isn't Orlando home to the cheapest car rentals on the planet? So, they are HUGELY inconveniencing themselves, driving 4 hours to even get ON the train, waiting 3 hours to board after their car, sleeping SITTING UP because they don't get a sleeper, and 17 hours later driving off in Florida to start their vacation completely exhausted- all to save what- $400? (And this is not someone living anywhere NEAR the poverty line).

That does sound extremely crazy to me considering I was able to rent a full size car for 10 days for $145. I know that my bro's train costs were over $2000 with a sleeper on the way down and coach seats on the way back. Sure, they give you food, but who cares? You're on a train forever. It's a day and a half of traveling. Uhmmmm - No thanks!

All I could think was, you are even CRAZEEEEEER than anyone gives you credit for!! And a LOT of people give her plenty of credit for being crazy!

Sorry- I just needed to vent a little.

Venting is good. I like vents. I do enough of it myself. :rotfl:

Ok- back to catching up- between you, Saintstickets & Karin's TRs, I have a TON of DISing to do!!

Ugh - don't you hate when you get really far behind. It sometimes feels like you'll never caught up.

That's ok, the rest of us are reading it at work.

Well, I'm sure some of you are, but we're not supposed to talk about that. Right?

Amateurs.

Definitely. I think they got a little more educated as the trip went on.

Apparently, he had already croaked.

I'll say! :rotfl2:

It was ridiculous. The buses kept coming and coming, but none of them were the right bus.

Now I'll have to look for another trip report where they complain about a pushy lady at the Saratoga bus stop.

The sad thing is there may be one out there, but I hope not. :rotfl2: I did realize that was a potential flaming momnt. :furious:

Well, we already knew that. :rotfl2:

:rolleyes2 It was hard to watch them not get some of the magic, but I wish they had been around for more of the character interactions. It a shame the missed the beginning.

:rotfl2: Amazing! So did you get the prize button at the end?

No, but I sure deserved one! :thumbsup2

You have had a ton of rain on your trips. I have been very, very lucky when it comes to avoiding rain. It rained the whole week before we got there and then was a tropical storm after we left. So sorry I missed all that. :rotfl:

And it is now making me nervous, because guess where we are staying next May for DISmoms 5??????

UH-OH......:worried:

Ok - I'm going out on a limb here, but I'm going to say AKL? ;)

More power to them I guess. LOL!

Yeah right - I guess, too! :rotfl2:

I had 2 horrible waits for MK although in both cases I was actually trying to get to the GF and it became a "by whatever bus shows first" scenario. I think but usually it's AK or TL that kills us...or DTD. All seem to be awful, with multiples of every other bus showing up when that's where we want to go.

You're right - the DTD/TL combo can really be a PITA. I can wait about 10 minutes for a bus, 15 max. At 20 mins I start putting my unhappy face on.

either that or a collage for the GF to show how much he missed her. She WAS on the trip with you, just virtually!

I think You are right! :rotfl:

as you should be

I kept hearing the Rocky theme play in my head as I was running back to CP, dodging guests and strollers and ECVs. :thumbsup2 Too bad there were no art museum steps for me to climb at the end.

Yeah, I've looked hard at TIW for this upcoming trip but I only break even so DDP works better this time.

Makes sense since we have my TIW to use in October. Otherwise, I could definitely see you going for the TIW. Looks like mine is going to get a workout in October.

Ok that's even funnier that it was Denny who was the instigator!

Denny loves that place. He actually went back to it later that evening!

I am really really looking forward to it, just hoping the weather cooperates and the boys aren't really secretly thinking that park days are planned and then are bummed at the front end.

They may get that urge to go into a park, but seriously, how can you be bummed when there are so many great things to do. Have you considered a water park or DQ as an alternative. In a way the WP seems silly since the cruise is going to be like going to one big water park.

I've never been on it at night, I am SO in. Every time I've tried at night, it's been EMH and it's been closed. WAH!

Great! Let's put it on the list. We could do it during the Halloween party. No waits then! :thumbsup2 It's fun at night, especially if you get a good captain.

Good for you on the sleep! That is what you are SUPPOSED to do on vacation!

It really was great getting a good night's sleep every night. I enjoyed sleeping in that room. It was great.

Poor poor frog.

Ribbit!

I think it was a combo problem - staying at the treehouse villas, SSR being such a big place, and a late MK bus. Bad combination. You'll be fine in September. This was June. They totally need to amp up the buses in June!

Love the pictures at the Crystal Palace with the kids...looks like everyone was enjoying themselves. That puffed french toast is my favorite thing after popcorn to eat at Disney.

Yum - that french toast was so good!!!!!! Between the characters and the yummy food, I was on happy girl!

You did have transportation issues, didn't you? I hope it got better when you return to the park.

It did get better, but then it got worse again. That's all I'm going to say. :rolleyes2

Fabulous update even with all the horrible waiting and waiting and waiting. You paint an excellent picture. Your nephews didn't complain about the waits? What wonderful children :)

I don't think they knew any better, so they were really good about it. They really did just with the flow.

Amazingly impressive Buzz score! I do so poorly on that ride it's not even funny.

Hold the trigger down continuously and your score will improve. But seriously, I just lucked out on the score. Twice! pixiedust:

So you hopped on the bus because things were already going downhill that early in the day? I hope you came out of this experience with more positive memories than negative ones.

No. The bus pulled up to the stop while we were walking to the car. My bro's car was in the other direction, so they went straight to their car. I decided just to get on the bus to check it out. Big mistake. I regretted it immediately, but it was too late.

That was pretty much it! ::yes::

I can think of many worse places to be. I actually bet you had a ball once you got over the shock of getting your dress wet. At that point you probably figured, "what the hey. I'm going for it". :rotfl::thumbsup2

I'm finally here!!!

The fact that you sent your SIL off with a few suggestions makes me nervous...I bet they didn't get one FP, did they? :scared:

The Treehouse Villas look beautiful. I'm guessing you drove to the parks for the rest of the trip? ;)

I'm finally here!!!

:welcome: Brook! Thanks for stopping by!!!!!

The fact that you sent your SIL off with a few suggestions makes me nervous...I bet they didn't get one FP, did they? :scared:

:rotfl2: Are you psychic? Seriously, HOW did you know that? I was saving that little tidbit for the next update, but since you called that one I'll let the cat out of the bag.

The Treehouse Villas look beautiful. I'm guessing you drove to the parks for the rest of the trip? ;)

WE did take the bus back to MK that evening, but it was car all the way after that.

I just don't know how to do that: lay back & see how things go. I have much to learn from you. :worship:

But it's definitely a shame that it affected what they thought of the park. IMHO, rope drop at MK is a necessity at pretty much anytime of the year. You just get so much done without a lot of craziness going on. I do hope they ended up enjoying the trip. :goodvibes

Yay! Great update~ even is everything didn't go so great with the transportation. That's crazy you had to wait for a bus for so long!
So glad you made it to CP on time. I really want to eat there sometime, since everyone seems to love it! My mom has her own "personal summers" too, so I can only imagine how hot you were feeling. Hope the transportation experiences get better :)

I just don't know how to do that: lay back & see how things go. I have much to learn from you. :worship:

Hah! It just comes with lots of trips. You finally hit a trip where you say to yourself, "this park commando is crazy" I still have days that our commando, but other days where I'm not. There is always something to do, whether it's in the park or out.

But it's definitely a shame that it affected what they thought of the park. IMHO, rope drop at MK is a necessity at pretty much anytime of the year. You just get so much done without a lot of craziness going on. I do hope they ended up enjoying the trip. :goodvibes

It really is, because overall they did not like the MK because of how both visits there went. But things did improve as the week went on and they actually loved the parks where they got there early. Not sure if they picked up on the correlation yet. :confused3

Yay! Great update~ even is everything didn't go so great with the transportation. That's crazy you had to wait for a bus for so long!

All I an say is, thank goodness we DID get on that bus or I would have been so unhappy. I'm just irritated with myself for not driving right to the grandstand. That was a mistake, for sure.

So glad you made it to CP on time. I really want to eat there sometime, since everyone seems to love it! My mom has her own "personal summers" too, so I can only imagine how hot you were feeling. Hope the transportation experiences get better :)

CP is great. That and Cape May Cafe are my fav character breakfasts. I just LOVE the characters. I love Eeorye. He is my favorite.

As far as the "personal summer" and "running hot" - those are expressions that I never heard until about a year or so ago. Being in WDW while having a personal summer can get a bit intense. :faint: :rotfl:

Oh everything seems so stressful... It's amazing how the stress level goes up when other adults are depending on you to lead them. I know exactly how you felt. When it's just you and a bus is late, no big deal... but when there are others waiting on the bus (that you decided to take) it's no fun!

I'm glad you made it to MK & had a nice breakfast and got to ride a few rides. Love the Buzz scores! :thumbsup2

I hope you made it back in time for Splash!!

Ugh, see, that's why I can never rely on the buses at Disney, if I had to wait that long to get on a bus and get to MK when I had an ADR, I actually would have a meltdown! At least I know that when we're driving to the parks, if we're late, it's our fault, that makes me feel a little better! :rotfl:

I'm glad you made it to your ADR on time, and managed to get your FP's! Looks like everyone enjoyed CP, I love that place! :lovestruc

That was nice to buy the SM picture for the boys! :thumbsup2

Wow, that line for the Peoplemover is insane! I can't believe your score on Buzz, I don't know how can tell where you're shooting! :rotfl:

Finally i am caught up! My nook wont let me quote and reply so pardon the randomness here :-)

Love your big group shot. Its definitely frame worthy!

I had to Lol at you skipping the HM queu in anxious anticipation. I get it. I could not be on Disney property for so long and not be in a park!

Your IASMphotos came outgood for no flash.bet the boys could have passed on it though! Were they just super excited to go on just any ride?

I have to say that was a moderate meltdown. I think we have one like that every trip...usually at the end of day one ...i think it has to do with the nervous excited energy of travel plusanticipation of the parks and utter exhaustion at the end of the day. Hope that was the only meltdown of your trip!

I can see why having a car at SSR would be very beneficial. Sometimes the bus rides are just too much (or should i say the bus waits!) Can you imagine how confusing transportation would have been if you had not known your way around?shheeesh

That stinks about the bus taking so long! That is probably the one thing I don't miss about staying at a Disney resort.

Love the CP pictures!! Looks like the oldest boys are having just as much fun with the characters as the little ones. :goodvibes I can NOT wait to get back there for that puffed French toast!! Just a few more months...

Despite living in Louisiana, I just do not do well in the heat either. The minute I start sweating, my level of excitement just plummets. I have gotten so spoiled traveling to WDW in the offseason, I don't know what I'll do when Paxton is older and I can't take him out of school anymore for a fall or winter trip!
