Will You Chill Out if I Sprinkle You With Pixie Dust? The End p136 *New TR Link* p138

Wow I can't believe how much you have posted while I've been out of action!
The bathroom was beautiful, but no locks on the bathroom would not work for me!

I love the Disney bubble, all of our trips with the kids were off property. Staying on property was always a dream of ours & we are living the dream now days!

The train sounds like fun if one is not in a hurry & had a stateroom. I have a plane phobia, but I can conquer it enough to fly to WDW!:rolleyes1

& here's the programs..

I LOVED the culinary and the gardening and architecture courses.. you got to go tour around.. hit the gardens at Epcot and then eat... and eat..

here

The guys running the culinary/wine courses were having a blast at how much booze they could charge to Disney...:banana::banana: No wonder it closed... :confused3

I keep meaning to comment on your update...and then I guess I get called away and think I made the comment...

I am think the sheer size of SSR and the Tree houses is amazing!!!

The pics of inside the tree houses are great. I think you could easily stay there and not eve (dare I say it) go to a single park. The stay there could be the vacation!

Course... as it has been said a dozen times already... it probably would be a better vacation if there were a few locks on those doors. ;)

Very cool treehouse pictures! :thumbsup2 I just texted my friend (who is a DVC member through her parents) that we need to coordinate a vacation one of these years & stay in a treehouse! Although I'm not sure how I feel about the bus situation...

joining in and catching up.
We usually stay on International drive because it's cheaper but we always pass wonderworks and Ripley's going to the parks and I always say someday we must visit and there's just never anytime because of my disney love :goodvibes

That and they are all in an album.

But isn't there something so great about an old fashioned album? I love them so much more than digital scrapbooking because there is so much dimension to to them. They seem more "alive".

Yup they were kind of two levels the bottom level only had a double bed and that was it though. I think the main reason for the change in design to it was to make them ADA compliant and also the issue with the stairs makes some sense too.

That makes sense, although the two floor layout does sound very cool.

I think the Disney Institute was open to everyone; they still do exist but are mainly for cooperate retreats and stuff like that. They also do some of the backstage tours as well I believe. As for staying there you didn’t have to do anything extra it was like any other Disney resort.

I did not know that anyone could stay there. I must have started to go to Disney after they closed them. I remember seeing them for the first time during my first stay at POR and I thought the whole idea was so cool. I never dreamed I might actually stay there.

I really think they need to add a stop to the treehouses, I don’t know how people staying in them put up with that. But I guess most people there must have a car so they don’t think of it as being a problem.

I wonder how many people actually do have a car. I know I met another family from TExas on one of my bus rides and they seemed to be putting up with the transportation pretty well. It was their first trip so they must have still been in that giddy phase.

The one thing I learned is that bell services will take you back from SSR to the treehouse on a golf cart. I definitely took advantage of that one day.

Wow I can't believe how much you have posted while I've been out of action!

:welcome: Doris! So happy to see you back on the boards. I hope you are feeling 100% again, or at least close to it!

Totally weird. I agree. I was not a fan, but honestly, when you have no choice what else can you do? :sad2:

I love the Disney bubble, all of our trips with the kids were off property. Staying on property was always a dream of ours & we are living the dream now days!

Staying on site is a thousand times better. Everything is so seamless, except for the transporation sometimes. :rotfl:

The train sounds like fun if one is not in a hurry & had a stateroom. I have a plane phobia, but I can conquer it enough to fly to WDW!:rolleyes1

I think the train is probably great for people who have longs trips planned. For a 5 night trip I would definitely NOT spend two more nights on the train. :sad2:

Here's the link for the villas at Disney institute..

here

Thanks for the link. I breezed through it, but am definitely going to spend a little more time reading about it. I also wonder if there are some youtube links.

This link is restricted right now (on the computer I'm on), so I'll have to look at it later tonight. I can't wait to read about this. I love anything where alcohol is involved. :rotfl2:

Ha! I do that all the time! So frustrating when someone interrupts the flow of your DIS time! :rotfl:

I am think the sheer size of SSR and the Tree houses is amazing!!!

It is a big resort, which I generally don't mind at all as long as things connect in a logical manner. The only thing I didn't like was the transporation. Once a resort gets too big then something has to suffer.

The pics of inside the tree houses are great. I think you could easily stay there and not eve (dare I say it) go to a single park. The stay there could be the vacation!

That is exactly how I felt. I could easily stay there and not go to the parks. I would have rented water mice, gone to OKW one day, spent an afternoon at each of the pools, gone running or walking every morning, taken frequent trips to DTD. And - if I golfed - OMG - that course looked fabulous.

Course... as it has been said a dozen times already... it probably would be a better vacation if there were a few locks on those doors. ;)

Seriously - I wonder how many couples have had to move a piece of furniture in front of the door to keep their kids out? :scratchin :rotfl2:

Cool! I could see your boys staying there and loving it.

If you are prepared for the bus and go during the less crowded times of the year I think it can work. Careful planning and no one is better at that then you! :thumbsup2

LOVING this TR, thanks for sharing! :)

:welcome:SilvernGold! Thanks for joining in my TR and welcome to the DIS! This is a great community with lots of wonderful people and information. Enjoy!

:welcome: petals! So glad you were able to join in. Great to have you here!

There are a lot of places on I drive and the neighboring area that I have always wanted to visit, too. But I feel the same way as you - my love of Disney is like a magnet that just pulls me in! I can't break the spell. :rotfl:

I'm here to join and read along!! I definitely understand about preferring fast food to sit down after a long plane ride, and hey, McD's has some good choices haha

Sleeping in on a disney vacation?! Heck no, totally doesn't fly haha. Okay, okay, I guess it does when you'r just going to check in somewhere else & wait for more people.

GAH! I absolutely love SSR & the treehouses, they look TOTALLY AWESOME, I would LOVE to stay there some day. So much awesome. That's kinda weird about the bathrooms having no locks, weird. I'm excited to read more!

Great updates, MaryEllen. Love all the pictures of the villas (I had seen the living room/kitchen area, but never the bedrooms). Love the detail keeping with the theme.

Hooray for them finally arriving and some pool time to cool everyone off. I didn't see a picture of your brother. Was that on purpose? ;)

My family just bought into DVC and our home resort is SSR. We have booked our own TV for next May. :cool1:

Loving your report so far!:thumbsup2

I HAVE experienced that GPS unresponsiveness after arriving at an airport 1,000+ miles from home! One time in Houston we were holding it out the window, trying to help it find the satellites. :rotfl2:

Boy, you were determined to get some bathroom pictures, come heck or....high water. ;)

The treehouse villas look really nice! :thumbsup2

Ok, I'm all caught up now and I'm loving it!

The Treehouse Villa's look so great. So many great touches.

Sounds like pool time was the best thing for everyone. I know Danielle always wants to hit the pool, but we usually are headed to DTD on our arrival day. I'm looking forward to reading how you heard all these newbies around the world. I love showing someone the World for the first time.

I'm feeling about 60% back to my old self. The hot weather isn't helping! Been spending lots of time on Turner Classic Movies!:lmao:

But isn't there something so great about an old fashioned album? I love them so much more than digital scrapbooking because there is so much dimension to to them. They seem more "alive".
Tell me about it we have tons of Photo Albums around the house my dad loves making them for everything. We have ones for trip and then there ar ones with some of the pictures taken during a particular year.

That makes sense, although the two floor layout does sound very cool.
Yaeh it was a kind of neat layout although I do like the new one too.
I did not know that anyone could stay there. I must have started to go to Disney after they closed them. I remember seeing them for the first time during my first stay at POR and I thought the whole idea was so cool. I never dreamed I might actually stay there.
That area has an interesting history with WDW it originally was going to be a place for people to live a lot like what celebration became, the only problem with it was they would have had to give them voting rights on everything. So they axed that idea. It eventually became the Vials at the Disney Marketplace and then they added the Disney Institute part of it. Most of the buildings for Saratoga Springs sit where the original ones did too. It looked more like your typical time share type of place then a Disney resort.

I wonder how many people actually do have a car. I know I met another family from TExas on one of my bus rides and they seemed to be putting up with the transportation pretty well. It was their first trip so they must have still been in that giddy phase.
I guess if people are willing to put up with it Disney doesn’t really see it as a problem.
The one thing I learned is that bell services will take you back from SSR to the treehouse on a golf cart. I definitely took advantage of that one day.
They did that at the Disney Institute too. I remember when we checked we took a six seat golf cart to the treehouse for the first time, well my dad drove are rental van behind us.

All caught up, LOVE the inside of the Tree house, though I have to agree that I would be less than thrilled with no locking doors inside at all. what's up with that I wonder? maybe too far for maintenance to come open them if people lock themselves in/out of a door? strange.

You are so welcome to the gift cert - it seemed a shame to waste it and I think you always make at least one stop in DTD. :goodvibes

I bet the boys enjoyed the pool after being stuck on the train for so long. Looks like a good start for them!

Subscribing! We took the autotrain the first time we went to Florida- my son is a huge train lover. I think he kids liked it because it felt like our vacation wasn't over. Why is the train always delayed on the way down( or so it seems):confused3?
