That and they are all in an album.
But isn't there something so great about an old fashioned album? I love them so much more than digital scrapbooking because there is so much dimension to to them. They seem more "alive".
Yup they were kind of two levels the bottom level only had a double bed and that was it though. I think the main reason for the change in design to it was to make them ADA compliant and also the issue with the stairs makes some sense too.
That makes sense, although the two floor layout does sound very cool.
I think the Disney Institute was open to everyone; they still do exist but are mainly for cooperate retreats and stuff like that. They also do some of the backstage tours as well I believe. As for staying there you didnt have to do anything extra it was like any other Disney resort.
I did not know that anyone could stay there. I must have started to go to Disney after they closed them. I remember seeing them for the first time during my first stay at POR and I thought the whole idea was so cool. I never dreamed I might actually stay there.
I really think they need to add a stop to the treehouses, I dont know how people staying in them put up with that. But I guess most people there must have a car so they dont think of it as being a problem.
I wonder how many people actually do have a car. I know I met another family from TExas on one of my bus rides and they seemed to be putting up with the transportation pretty well. It was their first trip so they must have still been in that giddy phase.
The one thing I learned is that bell services will take you back from SSR to the treehouse on a golf cart. I definitely took advantage of that one day.
Wow I can't believe how much you have posted while I've been out of action!

Doris! So happy to see you back on the boards. I hope you are feeling 100% again, or at least close to it!
The bathroom was beautiful, but no locks on the bathroom would not work for me!
Totally weird. I agree. I was not a fan, but honestly, when you have no choice what else can you do?
I love the Disney bubble, all of our trips with the kids were off property. Staying on property was always a dream of ours & we are living the dream now days!
Staying on site is a thousand times better. Everything is so seamless, except for the transporation sometimes.
The train sounds like fun if one is not in a hurry & had a stateroom. I have a plane phobia, but I can conquer it enough to fly to WDW!
I think the train is probably great for people who have longs trips planned. For a 5 night trip I would definitely NOT spend two more nights on the train.
Here's the link for the villas at Disney institute..
here
Thanks for the link. I breezed through it, but am definitely going to spend a little more time reading about it. I also wonder if there are some
youtube links.
& here's the programs..
I LOVED the culinary and the gardening and architecture courses.. you got to go tour around.. hit the gardens at Epcot and then eat... and eat..
here
The guys running the culinary/wine courses were having a blast at how much booze they could charge to Disney...

No wonder it closed...
This link is restricted right now (on the computer I'm on), so I'll have to look at it later tonight. I can't wait to read about this. I love anything where alcohol is involved.
I keep meaning to comment on your update...and then I guess I get called away and think I made the comment...
Ha! I do that all the time! So frustrating when someone interrupts the flow of your DIS time!
I am think the sheer size of SSR and the Tree houses is amazing!!!
It is a big resort, which I generally don't mind at all as long as things connect in a logical manner. The only thing I didn't like was the transporation. Once a resort gets too big then something has to suffer.
The pics of inside the tree houses are great. I think you could easily stay there and not eve (dare I say it) go to a single park. The stay there could be the vacation!
That is exactly how I felt. I could easily stay there and not go to the parks. I would have rented water mice, gone to OKW one day, spent an afternoon at each of the pools, gone running or walking every morning, taken frequent trips to DTD. And - if I golfed - OMG - that course looked fabulous.
Course... as it has been said a dozen times already... it probably would be a better vacation if there were a few locks on those doors.
Seriously - I wonder how many couples have had to move a piece of furniture in front of the door to keep their kids out?
Very cool treehouse pictures!
I just texted my friend (who is a DVC member through her parents) that we need to coordinate a vacation one of these years & stay in a treehouse! Although I'm not sure how I feel about the bus situation...
Cool! I could see your boys staying there and loving it.
If you are prepared for the bus and go during the less crowded times of the year I think it can work. Careful planning and no one is better at that then you!
