When I was trying to show my mom hwo to use the Dining Plan, I had some issues, so I do not envy you trying to situate all those people. But, at least everyone got their mugs and some food, and it looks like everybody enjoyed the pool time. But I sure hope nobody experiences a meltdown yet!

If you eat at the right places and pick the right meals I think it can be cost effective. For example, if you had dinner most nights at WPE in DTD it would totally be worth it. But if you stick to park counter service, not so much.

Yeah. Wouldn't work. I could do WPE at most, twice and that's pushing it. CS is done for lunch but we struggle with it for dinner. However when the kids were 4/5 it would have been perfect

Well, maybe its 18 or 19 steps. I forget. I walk steps all the time at work so when someone asked me I said 12 and Denny was like, "are you crazy. count again".

The tree house sleeps 9. 2 in each bedroom and 3 in the living room.

Wow SSR really is big...it looked that way when we made a quick stop but two maps!! It took me a couple of days to get used to Pop Century so god knows what I would be like in such a big resort!

Well, there is one little section in each map that is a duplicate - the grandstand area. I guess they needed a bigger map when the treehouses were built so they just map a second one.

It is a big complex but I've stayed there enough that I've got it figured out. I think its less confusing then some of the other resorts. I got more lost at the Boarwalk.

Lovely pics of the villa...it looks great! I love butterfly prints so the portraits on the wall are my favourite.

I really enjoyed all the artwork and the soothing earth tones in each of the rooms. It was great.

Oh no on having no locks...that sounds scary!

That could have resulted in an embarrassing situation, but fortunately it didn't.

Yay on all the family being together and enjoying pool time.

It was so nice to see the kids enjoying themselves. Having a "private pool" certainly was great.

Ah - I must have forgotten that you flew to Sanford. Makes sense. I am sure I-drive would be very memorable when you see it the first time, but then on to the Disney bubble!

Yikes on the autotrain! I know a lot of people around here really like them. But the cost plus the time and I'm not sure I would be game.

I agree - its more expensive than flying. I am sure that we would have spent less on our flights and our rental car then if the three of us had taken the train down and back. But they definitely book up, so there is a big market for the train. Mostly people who don't like to fly, I would think.

I love our small airport here in Corpus. Granted our rates are higher most of the year, but we can leave for the airport an hour ahead of our flight and have plenty of time! I checked out SWA's new schedule last week and I'm afraid the new flight times out of here are nuts!

You are lucky to have a local airport with SWA. They really are my favorite airline, but I have noticed bad flight times in this market as well. There are very few non-stops out of Philly these days. It must be great to have an airport that close to your house. Very cool!

Can't wait to hear more. The treehouse villas look amazing! One day!!

Leslieann! Thanks for joining in. So glad you are enjoying my TR so far. I agree, everyone has a different way to vacation at the world. My first vacations were all about the parks. I was there every morning well before rope drop and I went strong all day long. Now I take a much more laid back approach. I definitely incorporated a lot of "down-time" into this trip, but I enjoyed that as much as the parks.

Going to WDW is definitely a "live and learn" experience.

Disneymom! Thanks for joining in. You must live somewhere between the two airports. I don't quite recognize the name of your town as I am familiar with a lot of PA locations having grown up in SE PA. I've never been to the one in Harrisburg, but I bet that is extremely convenient for some people.

Thanks! I am sure they will LOVE it. Sounds like they have the perfect sized party for a treehouse stay. Imagine being a kid and getting to stay with your parents and your grandparents in a treehouse. Way cool!

They really did a nice job with the rooms. I was most impressed with the quality of the granite in the kitchen and the bathrooms. It really was lovely. The kitchen was a nice size with a very convenient central location.

The meltdown is coming. But not yet.

It was a little hairy with the first meal but the CM's at Artist's palette were also very helpful in getting my brother and his family situated. Fortunately, they weren't crowded at the time. Huge help there.

I loved the bathroom too. It was really a cool setup once I got used to the clear glass shower door. I wish I had gotten a chance to use the tub, but there was really not time for that. It was go, go, go every day with all those kids.

I guess because they don't have anything to compare it to they weren't very upset about the delay. Just tired. The group swim in the pool was wonderful. Perfect water temp! Not a cloud in the sky. Well, Ok, maybe one.

Then the QS dining plan would not be for you. I was using WPE more as example of prices, although I think they had a pretty good menu. We also ate at the Pepper Market one night, which was a good use of the plan. The other two restaurants where I feel it was useful was the Morocco counter service (yum) and Sunshine Seasons. I'll give you a full report. I did want to try the CS place near Raglan Rd (the name escapes me), but never got around to it.

Ok just thought I would drop in to give some info about the old Treehouses, unfortunitly I don't have any pics of them to share as I don't have them scanned into my computer as they are old school prints.

It's interesting how similar the new ones are to the old, except they are all on the same level. The old ones used to have three bedrooms as well the main floor on the top had two bedrooms and a bathroom. The kitchen was towards the back and the living room was at the front of the building, and there was a spril staircase leading down to the third bedroom below.

As for the Disney institute we didn't do any of the activities there only stayed in a treehouse as it was the best place at the time to accommodate our family of 6, back in 1998.

I find it odd that they don't have the buses servicing the whole resort as well. Back in the days before Saratoga Springs they stopped at all of the sections of the resort, there were about four stops total one at the main building, one at one group of buildings, one at the treehouses and then one at another group of buildings. It didn't really take any much longer then the buses at POR/POFQ and Carabien Beach to make all the stops it wasn't like the foolishness of the Epcot resorts sharing buses.

I DID get to do the Disney Institute... it was a BLAST!!! But some of what they did is now part of the backstage tours, etc.

I think they should have given it a little bit more time.. but I can understand why they replaced the townhouses with SSR...

So there were townhouses once were SSR is? Interesting. I started going to Disney right before SSR was built and my second trip it was being built (we were staying at POR at the times so I saw the construction from the river).

Summer has been great, but warm, so far. We did not have any major damage but we did lose power for about 9 hours. Some of my friends lost it for 24 - 48 hours. There were a lot of tree branches down everywhere. It was a pretty crazy storm!

I have actually lived in Springfield, Delaware County, then Erdenheim/Flourtown Montgomery County, then Lansdale, and then finally Ambler. My parents still live in Ambler but I've been down here in Delaware since I graduated from UD.

Denny was a trooper. I know he felt like crap, but he didn't let it slow him down and he didn't complain. The cold, unfortunately, did make it rounds.

Yup they were kind of two levels the bottom level only had a double bed and that was it though. I think the main reason for the change in design to it was to make them ADA compliant and also the issue with the stairs makes some sense too.

I think the Disney Institute was open to everyone; they still do exist but are mainly for cooperate retreats and stuff like that. They also do some of the backstage tours as well I believe. As for staying there you didn’t have to do anything extra it was like any other Disney resort.
