I'll be cooking while I watch the parade. And it is a known fact around here that if any one touches the TV before Santa arrives at Macy's then there will be heck to pay!
I used to like watching the Macy's parade but now it seems to be nothing more than a commericial for singers & Broadway shows that I never heard of and will never see. And the silly banter between the "hosts" is a bit much.
So I will probably not watch tomorrow.
I do like watching the Roses parade on New Year's Day. I will never get there in person, so TV will have to do.
I will be listening to it as I cook. I HAVE to watch it because my oldest dd 16 doesn't like to hear Christmas music before Thanksgiving. I always tell her once I see Santa at the parade (and I make her come to see it) then I am *allowed* to listen to my music without her complaining!!
I am much more interested in the Dog Show that will be on after. My dd13 shows dogs and we are not that far from where that Dog show was held 2 weeks ago. We have many friends who were at that show. I am hoping to see a few of them on TV!!!
I watch it half-heartedly but I tend to flip between 2 channels showing it since they seem to feature different things. One focuses more on the street performances with the dance numbers, etc... while the other one focuses more on the actual parade floats.
Unfortunately, by flipping sometimes I end up missing parts of it & depending on what all is going on, sometimes I don't quite get to the end of it either.
Yes!, it is a tradition. We love the parade and the broadway performances!
for those of you who don't care for the broadway numbers, they have moved them all to the first hour - and then the parade - the last few years. Just an FYI in case some don't know!!
I'll have a couple things started, but won't do the real cooking until after the parade.
Well I live in NY but we go to church on thanksgiving and the service is always when the parade is on. We dont have a recorder but its ok I see them blowing upthe balloons on tv the night before on the news. My friend used to go to the parade all the time and I asked her after I knew she took the train in from LI, how do you stand there and not think about going to the bathroom for hours??
Sure hope it's not windy in NYC tomorrow to cause problems with the balloons.. Haven't seen their weather forecast..
I'm STILL at the lake.. Can you believe it?? The very first time I have ever been able to stay up here this late in the season!! I'm very, very excited about that.. Normally the weather chases me out the day after Halloween - or at most, a week later..
It really looked like I was going to have to leave last weekend, but then the weather forecast changed and I was able to stay.. I have my "marching orders" though - if I don't get back there by Dec. 1st, my Dson-in-law is going to come up here with a crow bar and pry me out.. So - in light of that, I will reluctantly finish up my last minute packing and he'll come up to help me close up for the winter this Sunday..
I will be watching as I bake pies. I don't have to cook a whole meal, so it'll be more relaxed at our house tomorrow. We are cooking a big meal at our house on Friday, so that'll be our day of busy work.
