Will we regret Alfredo's?

Are we going to regret this place?

We did...both time we tried it a few years apart it was terrible all around.

Oh no! I booked Alfredos for my birthday dinner. I already have Le Cellier booked for our anniversary dinner the next night. I have CP booked and O'hana's booked for other evenings. I wanted to be able to have a glass of wine with dinner on my birthday, so I did not book CRP. Does anyone have any other idea for where we can go for my birthday dinner? We like pretty much anything. It will just be DH and I. Thanks for any help.

We had a great dinner there! I definitely want to go back. The tiramisu was incredible. I've been to Italy and that was the best tiramisu I've ever had.

Everybody has different tastes, you won't know until you try it.

I don't know what it is about Alfredo's, but of all the restaurants in Epcot, it seems to be the one that people just cannot agree on. Everytime there is a thread about it, there are HUGELY varying opinions. I guess it really just boils down to personal preferance. I have been a few times and have never had a bad meal there.

we had the dining plan when we went in dec 2005 and we ate here and it was the worst of the week plus we were there
the food was ok
but the service, atmopshere were awful
slow, too loud a long wait cuz of the cdp package eaters
we wont be doing it again
we did have wonderful food at le cellier
lotus blossom, american adventure, the candy shop in germany woohoo
i know its not food but it was good
oh also the resturant on japan was good

We enjoy Alfredo's ---- Fett and Lasagna are good, and the tiramisu is awesome

DH and I ate at Alfredo's years ago. We thought that the food was just OK, but what really got to us was how all the tables were on top of each other. There was NO personal space whatsoever at that restaurant! We ended up sitting next to another young couple and we all basically had dinner together because our tables were that close!

My husband really liked the Fettachine Alfredo, so we will probably be back. And the bit I snitched off his plate was really good.

The gnocchi wasn't on the menu (which is what I was hoping for) and my meal wasn't great. Neither was my daughters. Neither of us ate our meals.

I thought the tiramisu was rather tasteless, but both the chocolate and strawberry mousse were very good.

Wow...I can't believe how differing the opinions are....I'll have to talk to DH and see if he still wants to try it (at his own risk!)

However, I have used the bathroom in the restaurant twice. Each time upon entering the restaurant, I was almost knocked down by a terrible, damp, moldy smell.

If we had had PS for this place, I would have turned around an walked out.

Years ago, my parents took my brothers there and one of them got sick.

I would go back to Le Cellier or Tepinyaki. Or try Rose & Crown or walk over to the Boardwalk and go to Spoodles.

Are you sure it wasnt the Italian cheeses? They do tend to have a somewhat funky smell at times!

We booked Alfredo's at the last minute in Sept. 05. Didn't know what to expect after reading so many negative reviews. DD really wanted to do Italian that night so we took a chance. We had a good table on the end against the wall, so we didn't experience that "overcrowded feeling". Food was exceptionally good and the waiter was very personable. We went into it expecting the worse and were pleasantly surprised. I guess it's just "hit or miss" with this restaurant. Our family will definitely dine there again.

We ate there just last night and without an AR. At 6 p.m. we walked right in! Service was great as there were so few diners. I had the lasagna which tasted a good bit like Stouffers or Green Giant. Had hoped for something *very spicy*. DH liked the sampler which was made up of 3 different Italian dishes. The atmosphere and service were very nice. I wouldn't have to be dragged back kicking and screaming...I just wouldn't order the lasagna! You can see below how few diners there were last night around 6 p.m.

I think if you or DH is all gung-ho to try it you should. But, yeah, you'll regret it.

Resign yourself to the fact that you'll be eating with strangers. The guy sitting at the table next to you will be closer to you than your husband. So, you cannot carry on private conversations.

The food isn't very good at all. One time, my fettucini alfredo was a hunk of semi-melted cheese topped with greesy noodles.

You might as well go to the Olive Garden, which is close to the Disney property. You'd get a better, quieter, more relaxing meal for about half the price.

I try to discourage my traveling companions, but sometimes they just HAVE to go there. I think it is like tasting tin foil -- everyone has to find out for themselves.


edited to add: See the picture in the above post? The lower right-hand corner? Those are two different tables. That is how close people get packed in together. I've never seen it that un-crowded. Usually when we go the restaurant is packed, and people are milling about the lobby (and outside) with those little vibrator thingies.

hey Autumnsun!!! When I was a kid, we visited relatives in Arizona and my Mom made homemade sauce and lasagna for dinner. I think we drove around for an hour looking for real parmegiana cheese and then none of my cousins would come in the house while I happily grated it!! Nothing like the smell of fresh Italian cheese but I guess you have to be Italian to appreciate it!!

yes, you will regret Alfredo's.

We decided to give it another try, a couple of years ago. Bad move on our part.

One CM told me it was "chef boy-ar-de" on a plate.

We love Canada and Japan.

I have the meal which had 4 different pastas on it, the only one I ate was the Alfredo. So if you do go, only order the Alfredo, you'll be dissapointed with the other meals.

How can anyone else possibly tell if you will regret going to this restaurant or any other for that matter. It is all just personal opinion, plain and simple. And yes it may have good days and bad days like all other restaurants. As had been said many times, read the menu and if it looks good, give it a shot!!!

We were unimpressed with the pasta, acceptable but overpriced. However, the desserts were awesome, DD12 still raves about the chocolate mousse, and it definately was the best Tiramisu I ever had. Unfortunately, we were seated on the outside patio (our fault, no ADRs mid July) so I didn't see the inside of the restaurant. It does seem many of the Epcot restaurants crowd in many tables so you are quite close to your fellow diners. We noticed this at Chefs de France, Rose & Crown and 9 Dragons.

Alfredo's is one of my favorites. Honestly, I like the food at Le Cellier better, but the atmosphere at Alfredo's is fantastic! The waiters are very handsome and very nice, there are strolling musicians, it's always lively in there. The wines are decent and the desserts are really good. I don't eat pasta so I can't comment on the pasta dishes but the risotto and seafood I've had there have always been tasty.

For my birthday a few years ago the waiters stood me on my chair and serenaded me and then took turns kissing me on the cheek - it was hilarious I've eaten there at various times for the past 15 years (first time when my niece was just 3) with my parents, other family member, my friends, and DH and we've never had a bad time.

Well, we went a little over a year ago and hated it...overpriced, pushy waiter (want the bottled water? want the antipasto platter? want the expensive wine? want the dessert sampler? want a dessert drink? - more so than anywhere else), crowded as mentioned, and the food was poor to average. Gnocci was pasty, alfredo was greasy, and the three pastas on the pasta sampler were three different temperatures. Cold, lukewarm, and hot.

However, one of my favorite things to do at Epcot is to look at the menus, and I noticed an entree of different sausages (including boar) over white beans, which sounds fantastic, so I bit the bullet and we made a PS for Saturday night. I'm really crossing my fingers that this is going to be better. I'm going to try for a seat outside since the weather's been nice and it's less crowded on the patio. FH is REALLY iffy about going, since there are tons of places that we haven't been yet.. ack, I might be starting to think against this. :/

Edit: ugh, yeah, I'm just about convinced about not going back. Gotta think of some place else to go for dinner.
