We don't mind either way. It sounds like tables are for 8 - it would be awkward for a couple to be seated with us, but if it was a family with kids that might be fun for the kids.

How do they assign tablemates?

You may or may night. I believe they have 10 top tables as well, you could get a family of 4.
Many people say Disney has magic the way they match up people with similar interests.
There is an entire thread about tablemates.

Have fun!

You won't know until you board. We have been a group of 4, 5 & 7 and have never had tablemates (have done 11 cruises). We will be a 6 for our next cruise and a 9 for the one after that, so will be interesting to see what we get.

Just my experience. Party of 5 once seated alone at at 6 top. Party of 3 - seated with a party of 5 at an 8 top. Party of 6 had our own table.

We have sailed five times as a group of six, and have never been assigned tablemates.

We are also a family of 6. We have been on all 4 ships for a total of 7 cruises and have not yet had tablemates.

We are a family of 4 and have had table mates assigned 4 out of 19 cruises. Two of them we actually moved to being seated by ourselves, 1 of them must have requested to be moved and one of them we still stay in contact on FB and were really nice people who we enjoyed spending time with. :)

We met a family of 3 also from Florida and their DD's birthday is 1 day before our DD..................we have since been on 3 other cruises with them and always have a great time with them.
