Will VA flip?

CNN.com has a great area showing the state maps and you can hover over counties and cities and see their results -- % reporting, totals for each candidate.

VA is a bit aggravating, though. Right now Obama and McCain are tied 50-50. Areas with low percent of precincts reporting are in NOVA, which has trended heavily Democrat in recent years.

I think VA will flip, but it's going to be a squeaker.

according to our local news its a 50/50 split, with 70% of the precents reporting

They just reported that Richmond flipped and that is shocking and awesome to me!

Holy crap on a cracker.

According to that interactive map on cnn.com, Obama has an 8000 vote lead in VA. He had been behind all night, from 15% behind in the beginning.

If this was a horse race, he'd have the crowd on their feet.

I think Virginia and *North Carolina* are the new "Ohio and Florida".....

Ohio and Florida go to Obama.....

This is a big, big loss for the Republican party, but as a moderate Republican, I think it's a necessary one. They continue to lean to the right and give in to the fundamentalist christian base.......and they ran a terrible campaign with a complete lack of focus and no message. They were completely negative.....which means they had nothing to offer.

Think about their *biggest* hook.....Joe the Plumber. That non-licensed plumber dude from Ohio. And Ohio ended up in Obama's column.....

NC surprised me a little, but in retrospect I guess it shouldn't have. It's been a destination for northern transplants in recent years.

VA going for Obama won't be much of a surprise. The vote percentage looks like it'll be similar to Jim Webb's Senate victory.

Do you have a link for this map you speak of? I can't find it. TY

Our local news is saying it looks good for Obama, but they are still not ready to call it yet. They are saying it could go to the very end before they call the state

Thanks. I was using Firefox and it wouldn't come up. Had to go to IE.

At 10:24 per CNN Virginia is 51/49 Obama over McCain with 89% reporting

I did my part for Barack and SHOCKINGLY so did The Muffin who's a staunch and very conservative republican

I don't think there's enough electoral votes, even if McCain got them ALL to push him over the top is there?

So did Lauri. And surprisingly so did I.

:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 That's why I love her. She's smart enough to at least vote for the lesser of 2 evils :lmao:

I'm just thrilled beyond words to have been able to vote this year :woohoo: I didn't realize how much it meant to me until I went tonight and actually shed a tear that I could participate in our future. :cloud9:

It's official -- Stewart and Colbert called it for Obama. :teeth:

Shug, I did the math earlier. McCain would have to take CA to stand a chance, and I don't see that happening (despite the Governator).

I am stunned, excited and just in shock. Wow.
