Will this trip ever get off the ground? - Jan 2012 PTR - TOMORROW - 1/5!!!

LOL, it gets confusing I know. Quick Rundown:

b- lives in Seattle, needs flight and Disney tickets, we are using her timeshare rental for the week, we traded it in to stay at Wyndham Bonnet Creek

g- lives in FL, needs Disney tickets, will drive 1 hour to get to timeshare.

then there is me.

me - lives in MA, has airefare and Disney tickets booked, was going to start packing last night.:lmao:

Well, B and G better get their acts in gear. Or you'll have to push your trip back a week and stay with us. :lmao:

Isn't it three weeks ahead? I thought you left to go back to reality Oct 1st? I fly down the 14th.

DUH!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so backwards today. I don't know what made me think we still had two months. BRAIN FART! BRAIN FART! :headache:

No need for g to buy airfare, he lives an hour away.

Oh... even more frustrating cause he could just DRIVE!

Well, I can't remember who "B" or "G" is, but didn't they think of this at the beginning -- airfare, cost, etc. I hope you don't end up going all by yourself.

I agree! Why didn't they consider this early on??? :confused3

b- lives in Seattle, needs flight and Disney tickets, we are using her timeshare rental for the week, we traded it in to stay at Wyndham Bonnet CreekSo if it is her timeshare points that you are using, doesn't she want to be there? Or if she cancels do you have to find somewhere else to stay?

g- lives in FL, needs Disney tickets, will drive 1 hour to get to timeshare. So he doesn't have an AP.

then there is me.

me - lives in MA, has airefare and Disney tickets booked, was going to start packing last night.:lmao:So where will this leave you?

Answers to Ann:

b - I think she could switch the reservation under my name if she couldn't go, otherwise she would lose the points. I told her it would probably cost her $300 - $350 for tickets now and she seemed okay with that, but no more news on whether or not she bought tickets.

g - Always planned on driving down. Does not have an AP, we had talked abotu him doing the monthly payment plan, but now he is moving up north in january so we'll see what we do about tickets.

me - I fly down Friday before the whole week is supposed to start and am staying at Pop for that night, so I'll be out of the airport and on Disney property, I'm just not sure what will happen come Saturday, but I will be there for the week.

Kathy, you wanna stay or come back for another week?:lmao: I can sleep in a corner of your room, or postpone your trip three weeks?:lmao:

So, this has been an interesting year; two tornadoes, feeling the after effects of the earthquake, and now I'm waiting for Irene to get here and be done with. The tornadoes didn't hit where I am, but they still counts for reasons I'll explain at a later time. BF and I were supposed to be stuck in the house all weekend together waiting this out, it didn't started raining until about 3pm and its been raining on and off and the winds and real rain will not get here until tonight - tomorrow night. Once I wake up on Monday am everything should be fine. Cell phones and laptop are being fully charged in case power goes out I can entertain myself. We have lights and candles already. I think we should be able to cook since the stove is gas, we'll just have to light it up.

I was mentally prepared that the person working the afternoon shift for BF on Sunday would cop out, he's begged off working in both blizzards (I guess I could add those to the list above), pretty much anytime they mention weather could be bad. But he hasn't yet, he will though, just you wait and see. Its actually the morning shift guy who copped out. So BF is going to work tomorrow am from 9am - 3pm (I think). He's going to tell the boss he is going to have to be between here and there, cause he is not happy about leaving me home alone during this. Funny cause he was perfectly fine leaving me home alone for both blizzards this winter.

He mentioned that he wishes I was in Disney right now so he wouldn't have to worry about me and he'd take the cats with him to work and keep them safe.:lmao::lmao: That would be a sight!

Now keeping my fingers crossed that power doesn't go out, but it probably will cause it went out for a few seconds today with just rain. :sad2:

You are in my thoughts and prayers. I hope you don't lose power for long(if at all). Being without power for a long time is no fun for sure... I mean... how will you be able to get onto the disboards ;) your laptop will only be charged for so long.

Seriously though...stay safe. :goodvibes

NHi guys. It hasn't been too bad yet. Not tons of rain but wind has picked up. Cable and internet went out so its a disney movie marathon for me until we lose power, if we do. Gotta love internet on smart phones!

Watched tangled again. Now it's beauty and the beast. Not sure what will come after that. There is still no cable. A small tree in the backyard snapped but fell away from the houses towards the woods in my neighbors back yard. No major damage yet.

Everything is back to normal, well sort of. I'll have to clean the branches out of the backyard when I get home tonight and as of this morning we still do not have cable or internet, which is a HUGE bummer to me. Hopefully we'll have it when I get home tonight.

Later, I'll tell the story of why I chose to take my cousin to Disney as a surprise as long as I have the time.

I love Beauty & The Beast...it is my all-time favorite Disney movie. I'm glad you didn't have any major damage and that things are pretty well back to normal. Be careful with the clean-up.

So my parents live in Vermont, Rutland specifically. Its about 20 minutes away from Killington, which is a ski mountain. Killington had Route 4 (its how I get home to visit) wash out on both the east and west side of how you get on the mountain, plus Route 100 (another way out) washed out as well. Oh and one of the base lodges collapsed. Plus Route 7 South (how my family from Western MA gets to my parents) washed out and I'm sort of freaking out. My mom was all freaking out about me not having cable or internet and they are sort of stuck in their city!

Here's the local newspaper if you want to see:

http://www.rutlandherald.com

Because they couldn't print the paper today you can see a virtual hard copy free by entering in code RH0829. They are now talking weeks for some of these roads to be fixed! I drive through Woodstock and Killington when I'm close to getting home.

Here is an article from the Boston Globe
Vermont :(

I'm sorry to hear about the road damages on the way to your parents! Is there another route you can take? I hope you get cable and internet back soon.

The only other way I've thought of, but not sure about the roads, more rivers. Is taking the Mass Pike from Boston to Albany and then taking 87 and some back roads to Vermont. Which would be goign from a 3 1/2 hour ride to probably a 5 hour ride. Or spending $200 on a rt ticket from Boston to Rutland, we do have a rinky dink airport!

I am so sorry to hear about the roads by your parents. The good news is they are okay, but I am sure you are fretful as I am sure they are too with not being able to get anywhere at the moment. Hoping and praying that things get fixed as quickly as possible.

That is scary. I hope that your parent stay safe! I know where I live is a bit secluded. As recent as the 1940's, travel in the "rainy" months in or out of town was not doable since the roads would be too muddy. I cant' even imagine!

I guess a funny thing is, that they were too busy worried about everyone else and what was going on elsewhere, that they didn't know what was happening in their own backyard! The local paper didn't get printed today, but somehow my mom thought she'd be able to pick up the Boston Globe. How are they supposed to deliver the paper when all the roads are closed? :lmao: Silly Mommy!
