We are huge dark-side fans. Looking to take our first trip as a blended family to WDW. Me and my hubby are 47, and 50. Kids are 22, 20, 16, and 10 year olds first trip. I thought we'd try to stay onsite for 3 nights. Planning to go Monday 29th memorial leaving on Thursday.

So check in day: Character Meal
Tuesday- MK resort for BK and QS in the park and possible CR meal
Wenesday: Enjoy the resort and hang out at Disney Springs and Raglan Road
Move to HRH we have AP so they can go as much or as little as they want to.

Is this GOOD enough at Disney? I want my 10 year old to enjoy the day in the park and the resorts and Disney Resorts. Suggestions please. Thank ya'll.

Well, for me, I'd have to say, no.

I don't think you will have even touched on the high-points with so little park time.

I think you have not enough time at
the park (or parks) especially since you are going at a very busy holiday time.

Also, I'm confused by your only mentioning the MEALS of your days at WDW.
Is this actually a "dining" question?

And, since you are concentrating so much on the "resort," you didn't say WHICH resort.

Agree with Robo and Alesia. Definitely not enough Disney time for my family.
I would skip the resort and Disney Springs time and plan for 2 full park days.

I agree with everyone else. NO.
For this plan I wouldn't even bother or spend the money. Save your money & stay home.

I have to agree with every one here I do go to disney for one day trips but I also go about 50-60 days a year and have been since I was born ( with a few years off) so I know hoe to do the parks what I really like so a one day trip for me works

if you really want to do disney and since you have never been I would do attest 4 days one day for each park

or
MK 2 days
EPCOT 1 days
then spend a day at each HS/ AK

the resorts are nice not sure I would spend a whole day at any one an afternoon at one yes, same with disney springs unless you really like to shop listen to music and eat then maybe.

Unless you are local and this is a treat to stay at a Disney resort, this trip sounds like a colossal waste of time and money to me. We're not fans of the food available at Disney, with very few exceptions, and we hate Disney Springs and will never waste a minute of our time there again.

Agree with the others.

You will be going to great effort/expense to do very little and pretty sure you will leave disappointed.
Just your travel time among all those places will be way too much.

For short trips I surely don't waste any time at time intensive (and expensive) meals nor hanging at the resort.

If you truly only have the budget for one day tickets in the park .... I would just go to Universal for your whole trip ...
.. and then just drive over for one day and do MK open to close. It's literally 20 minutes tops they are so close together.

I just want to make sure I'm reading this right. By "dark-side fans" do you mean star wars? Star Wars is located in HollyWood Studios so you don't even have that on your itinerary...

You sound very new to disney and would possibly benefit from a really good travel agency that specializes in disney. dreams unlimited travel is connected to this forum and I would start there if you want someone to help guide you through a limited stay if you don't have the planning time required and need some hand holding and suggestions.

The short answer is most would consider 4 full days (not including travel days) to be very very short. That's 1 day in each theme park. Someone who goes to disney a lot, wouldn't go for less than a week. Table service takes about 90 minutes minimum to eat so your going to do a lot of eating with walking to the next place to eat. Counter service is your friend for time when you have limited days to be there (and when you don't). I'd find 1 place you think is unique to experience for table service and do only that with counter the rest.

I visited (and loved) Disney as a kid, but my hubby did not. So, our first trip to WDW was with our two sons in 2011. I knew I loved Disney, but I wasn't sure anyone else would, so we did a quick trip, just to test the waters over our schools' semester break at the end of January. We flew in to MCO on Thursday night, stayed at All Star Music, visited MK and Epcot on Friday and Saturday, and flew home Sunday.

It turned out to be the best (quick) trip ever, and we have returned once a year ever since. Three Disney lovers were created from that long weekend back in 2011. We have stayed at a different resort each time (values, mods and deluxes), and we have experimented with lots of different restaurants.

Truthfully, we are a ride focused family. I have boys who aren't in to shows or shopping. Our most recent trip was the first time we even booked table service meals, because my guys were never really interested in sitting down at a TS restaurant...they preferred squeezing in more rides or time in the resort pool.

I don't know how your family rolls, but knowing you're going to be there for such a short time, and knowing you want it to be a great experience, I would suggest spending the bulk of your time at MK and try hopping to other parks. The attractions are amazing and are what makes the WDW experience, well, magical. I wouldn't spend a ton of time in DTD or at a ton of different resorts so that you can maximize the magic of the parks. I don't know which resort you have chosen, but they are all terrific for different reasons. There is something really special about staying on property. Try to simply enjoy your resort and the parks...Whatever you decide, you'll be in WDW! It will be awesome...have a magical time!

I guess everybody is right, in an ideal world on a first trip, you would be there for 1-2 weeks and try to experience as much as you can. But, If what you're saying is you really do only have those couple of days to work with, I would at the very least swap your resort day with a park day. You don't have anybody particularly young or elderly in your group so I'm sure you'll all still be raring to go on your second day, and as nice as some of the resorts look, they just have pools, arcades, places to eat (and obviously lovely grounds). Not as much fun as doing another park.

So, I think one day at the MK can be fine. You can see a decent amount, it is the quintessential park. Saying a day isn't worth it is kind of demeaning towards family who will only ever be able to afford at trips.

However, two nights at a resort with possibly two rooms plus in excess of $600 on park tickets with planned meals outside of the park doesn't see to be a good use of money. In my opinion.

Yes dark side is universal. I just meant it's my 10 years first trip. I was thinking the character meal would get us in the mood for the park on Tuesday. Since we enjoy rides their are not many we can't do in a solid day we would want to do. I was thinking maybe as monorail resort to por if cost becomes and issue. We like to relax a bit on vacation so I figured after a day of the park my kids would enjoy sleeping in, hanging at the pool taking in something cool at the resort like a carriage ride. My girls need a few hours to dress for supper. I thought it would entertain them at raglan road. My baby girl would love Lego store afterwards and hanging on porch of the house of blues.

No, I am not new to Disney have you seen my join ate and post count? Thank you for giving me your time to help me. I sure appreciate it. The agent I am using offers a two ticket with water park add on. After seeing y'alls advice I am thinking better go with that instead of my plans.

Y'all give great advice and I surely appreciate it. Is typhoon lagoon the water park y'all would choose? Both are available. Again thank you so much for helping me.

I'd consider quick service meals and concentrate on park days to get your money's worth and more importantly the 10 year old would prob like a park over walking n shopping n walking some more at Disney springs. The older ones can do it on a nite if they so choose it over a park, but I'd say for a short visit..skip it.
Whatever you choose, have a wonderful visit making memories with your family!

I had a three night stay planned. Two rooms. So I thought we could take the time to enjoy being on property some. I figured they'd be worn out after a full day. You maybe right though maybe we should think about off property. I was thinking they'd like the resort on property.
