My husband and I booked the Wish for an adult only cruise to celebrate our wedding anniversary…. I of course came to the Disboards for information. It seems not too many are happy with the Wish - the layout the adult pool …. I am sure we will enjoy our time but I am now thinking I should have asked here which ship is the “best” for an adult only experience. Thoughts ………

What’s your itinerary? With the Wish doing 3 and 4 night cruises . Not a lot of Sea Days. Both Disney Islands have an adult only section. There are adult lounges like the piano bar lounge and lounge outside of Palo - the Rose. The adult hot tub is in a bad location because you hear the audio from the Aqua Mouse. The adult pool is in the back of ship and can become people soup on sea days.

But there’s still the Broadway shows, adult entertainment like Match your Mate etc.

4 days …. Both private islands :) I was thinking the same … adult only area on islands is the way to go :)

The Wish is great! You are going to have a wonderful time! You choose your own happiness, every one has opinions on everything.

We were on the Wish for four nights as an adult only trip in Nov and had a wonderful cruise. I'd gladly sail her again and we are very much looking forward to being on the Treasure in a few weeks. We just booked the Destiny for next year, so I'd say yeah we like that class of ship :) . We also booked the Dream, so obviously we just enjoy sailing on DCL (though we also really enjoy NCL).

I will say that some of the criticisms are justified, however. The adult only pool area is too small, and I miss an actual promenade deck. We enjoy doing laps around the ship for exercise. But there were so many other positives - best food (especially the pool deck options) on any Disney ship we've sailed on, loved the themed bars and we enjoyed the shows. This is a silly thing but we really loved the coffee bars - great drinks and service. CM's were great as always on DCL.

A day at sea is better than any day at work. Enjoy your cruise!

The Wish is my favorite ship. I have been on 11 cruise on 3 different ships, all classes, Wish, Dream and Magic.

Its goregous . The lounges and adults areas are great. Get to the adult dining.

Happy Anniversary!

I'd do the Wish for both private islands. I enjoyed the Treasure more but I think it's because I had enough time to actually do things. We have the Dream booked next and I'm actually worried that will be a downgrade in the eyes of my kids.

Just a couple of things to be aware of...

At Lighthouse, Serenity Bay is only separated from the family beach by a literal line in the sand.

On Castaway, Serenity Bay has been awesome. I'm not sure how it is now that the new family cabanas are just on the other side of the dining area and bar area at SB.

So I'm not sure how serene it is any longer. :(

I feel like I've seen an even split between people that say the Magic/Wonder and the Dream/Fantasy have the best adult area layout. Both the classic and Dream classes have a lot to offer as far as adult areas go.

In the classic ship's favor there are less passengers on board so it is the easiest to get a spot to sit at adult shows and easier to get into the adult pool without it being completely crammed. Going against the classic class is there are only three bars in the adult area vs the five that are on the Dream class.

In the Dream class's favor they are larger ships that have more bars/a larger entertainment district than the classic ships. It is definitely nice to have five bars in the entertainment district instead of just three, and in particular I enjoy District Lounge/La Piazza because it feels the most like a "normal" mid-end bar, rather than feeling super classy or super relaxed the way the pub and piano bar set up on the classic ships feel. The Dream class also added Satellite Falls, which is a bit of a splash pool for adults with a ledge to sit on and dip your toes in to help alleviate the fact the main adult pool isn't much larger than the classics despite the fact the Dream class has way more passengers on it. That is also the major downside to the Dream, the ship carries more guests so sometimes the adult pool is packed, and it can be hard to get seats for the evening adult entertainment in the bar district.

How important is the adult pool to you? Will you be spending a lot of time there?

The entire ship is gorgeous and adults will certainly enjoy all the various venues. Don't forget to make reservations for Palo on night.

My husband and I went on the Wish for the first time in December; just the two of us. I was a little apprehensive due to the reviews I'd read first as well, but we really had a great time. We were actually just doing some 'pre-planning' and having a look at the difference in layout, etc. since from what I've been reading, this is the ship that will likely do the Med cruises next year. We are planning a huge family trip for that timeframe! We are anxiously awaiting the release of dates for the summer of 2027!!

I’ve enjoyed the adult pool on both the Wish and Treasure. I’ve spent more days on the Fantasy and Dream and rarely go to those adult pools.

I am a bigger fan of the adult bar area on the Dream/Fantasy but the bars on the newer ships are fine too.
