Will they allow a 2 year, 11 month old in the 3 & Up Kiddie room??

My boy wilkl be one month shy of 3 years old at the time of our cruise. He' potty-trained, except for when he naps or sleeps at night.

Will they let him in the 3 year old kiddie room (I'm hoping)?

From what I have heard it is up to the councelors when you get on board. Do you realize that by potty trained they mean NO HELP WHAT SO EVER? They need to be able to do everything by themselves. I tend to think they may not, since it is a very different rate for a child under 3 and one over, and that is because it covers the cost of the clubs. It never hurts to ask though!

It is up to the counselors in the clubs, and he will have to be completely potty trained, no assistance is provided. The counselors aren't even allowed to go into the bathroom with a child. It also will depend on if the cruise is sold out or not. There are instances, where the cruise isn't sold out for adults but for children. They only allow so many of each age group onto the boat as to ensure that they will have admittance to the club. If there are a TON of 3 and 4 YO's on the ship, they probably won't admit your child, because there isn't enough counselors for an additional child. They must adhere to the guildlines of the counselor to child ratio.

They let our son go with the older group as he was one month away from his birthday.

I'd say - go ahead and have him put in the older group. They will tell you if he isn't doing well. You can put him in there for an hour or so at a time. Don't put him in when you think he might nap and perhaps take him potty before you put him in. I would say, "yes, he's potty trained" because he really is. Also, as long as he doesn't freak out when he has an accident, they would page you and you are only a short way to your room for changing. Also, does he have any older brothers or sisters? That tends to make a child age a little quicker - don't ya think?

Hey -- all they could do is say "no" he's not ready. I'd say its worth a try.

Thanks for the replies. Yes he has two sisters, 8 and 6. He is very much ahead, in part due to the older siblings.

We crusied at the end of September, and my daughter was 29 months old. At first they told us that she couldn't stay in the club, but they agreed after a couple of days that she could stay with our 4 year old son on a trial basis. We had been in the club with them a lot, and she always joined right in with whatever they were doing. I think they felt better seeing that she was not going to be a problem.
