Will there be summer discounts for hotels? Any rumored deals?

The latest deals for spring are getting ready to expire. Is this when we usually see the summer deals start to happen? I understand the Carsland experience is going to drive tourists but I was hoping for something. Even early entrance to Carsland or fastpasses if no discount for hotel stay. Does anyone remember the initial release date of summer vacations in the past?

I have not seen or heard of anything yet Mike, since I can not get points to rent I sure would like to see something for the resort hotels.

Thanks Jack. I was kind of hoping to put this thread out there to alert us all if someone saw something. Are you going back in July or August?

I seem to remember April/May being the time when the summer discounts start getting publicized. I'm really tempted by the idea of staying onsite this year, but I fear with the expected popularity of the new attractions that the discounts may not be within my comfort zone.

Another tip: if you have a Disney Visa card, you may get an e-mail about the discounts just prior to when they start going out to the general public, so check your spam folder.

Usually those discounts from the Chase Card are for WDW for me.
Thanks for the reply. I was hoping it was more like March but I think your right it might have been April.

Good point. Then since I love in California and usually get DL targeted advertising, I will keep a look out.

In March, that is in a week of three, we should hear about the late Spring offers. In late April or early May Summer deals. Probably in between we will start seeing a lot of Summer commercials.

I'm hoping for this since I have a studio reservation in mid-June right after Carsland is rumored to open. Unfortunately since our stay is "prepaid" I'm not the target demographic they'd like to lure in to spend more on the on-site stays (well, except perhaps as a way of selling more DVC points).

Subbing for when people start to find out. popcorn::

I have been getting anxious to know as well as we are going in June. I always have to remind myself in Feb. and March to be patient, because after years of staying at DLR properties in summer, I have realized that there is a predictable pattern. The pattern is as follows:

1. Right now DLR is focused on spring break trips. All of their marketing and discounts are aimed towards those, and they don't want to mess with that, so they don't mention any kind of summer discounts.

2. There will always be a summer discount for the DLR rooms. Sometimes it is amazing (like 5 days for the price of 3), and other years it is 25-30-35% off. With the opening of Cars land and upswing of profits, I can pretty much garauntee it will be in the second catagory.

3. These deals will be out starting in April-ish. It may be late March, but chances are it could be a bit later this year.

4. Many people who don't typically stay at the DLR hotels will try right now to price out a stay at one of the DLR hotels, and immediately think the prices out out of this world. This is because the discounts have not kicked in yet.

5. I always am dying to know what the discounts for summer will be about this time of the year too, but so far I have never found out what they are early. You would think someone would have loose lips and let us in on the secret, but I guess they have their reasons for keeping it quiet. If old timers like you, me, and Jack don't know---then you have to imagine that this is a tough nut to crack.

I'm waiting for this also...going in August for Destination D and already have HoJo booked for a couple days prior (will be in San Diego with DH for a Vet conference then no reason to come back home then back out for a couple days) and booked DLH with AP discount for $360 a night and hope a deal comes to lower that price but with Carsland opening I'm not sure that will happen..

Thanks Lisa for the refresher course. I am so desperate to firm up my plans for summer and its killing me. You would think Disneyland would want their money right now around tax time like WDW does. Heck even WDW kicked out free dining again. With gas prices so high I'm hoping that DL will be forced to give out at least a 20% discount for DLH or GCH. Money is really tight for us this year and HOJO currently is 2k cheaper than staying on property. If they don't start reading my posts their going to lose my hotel dollars.

It may be as early as mid March that they announce the Summer deals. We went to DL July 2010. I still had my confirmations so I went back and looked. We had originally booked the Disneyland Hotel on March 1st and then it looks like on March 15th, I changed my reservation to the Grand California as they had just released some great summer deals. We're going end of Aug/Sept for the 1/2 marathon and I've been waiting for the rates to drop too. Just keep checking these boards, someone will be sure to post. That's how I found out about the deals last time.:)

I am in the same boat and really want to firm up my plans for the end of May. Just in case I booked BWPPI at a $95 rate and that would be hard not to follow through with but if Disney properties offers a great rate on any of the hotels I am going to jump all over it.

I also was thinking about getting an AP so if anyone hears about those rate in May please let me know :)

Hope we get the rates soon....

I called the disney travel company today and heard that they are going to have the new sales rates for May on sun or mon! I dont know what they will be but they are better then the rates currently by maybe 25-30%.

Hope this helps with planning!

Cant wait to make my plans

Last year's promotions Spring/Summer Promotions were as follows:

1. Late Spring Offer - became available March 21st. For arrivals 4/17 - 6/18. It was a 25% offer for room only at one of the DL Hotels.

2. Summer Offer - became available May 29th. For arrivals 6/19 - 8/13. It was a room only 25% off PPH or 20% off DLH/GCH.

3. Late Summer Offer - became available July 26th. For arrivals 8/14 - 9/28. It was a package promotion of up to $450 off 4 day/3 night package at one of the DL Hotels. Included free character breakfast.

I watched these carefully last year as we were planning a summer trip and the specials were really late coming and for short windows of time only. Hard on a person who likes to plan months in advance (like me!!) ;)

Thanks Babybears. I always wish the next year that I had written down this dates.

Thanks for the info. I am going Aug. 18 to 25. Still have to wait another 4 months to book! :(

This is teasing!! For WDW, I would have already booked for months now. I am not sure how I can make ADR 60 days out when I have not decided whether I am staying onsite or not. This is hard when I am used to make ADRs 180 days out. OMG!!

Well, it appears the previous Spring promotions have not expired and been removed from the website, but I don't see any new additions for upcoming deals. I was hoping they'd add something as soon as the previous one expired on March 11. Waiting....
