Will the Soarin movie ever change?

Personally I still love Soarin', but I definitely think a remake would be cool. I love the idea of having all different places from around the world! As long as they keep the music the same, I'll be satisfied. It's without a doubt my favorite musical score out of any ride!

The Muppets and Mickey's Philharmagic are still running the same movies. I think the rides popularity determines whether or not an update is warranted. Many of of us Disney fans who have taken multiple trips see some of the rides as "old" but remember for many a trip to WDW is a once in a lifetime event. Personally, I love Soarin' especially the soundtrack. I do wonder what it would be like to have a Soarin' over America ride flying over some national monuments and parks. I remember when television stations used to sign off for the broadcast day. Most would play the national anthem and use a fly over of the United States showing Mount Rushmore, the Grand Canyon, etc.

One ride I hope they never update or close is Carousel of Progress.

This would be nice as the new Soarin Movie

That is more like what I was thinking, even if it was a little cheesy. At least the people who made this know how to make a segue.
This was still just based in the USA, imagine what worldwide could be? Add digital 8k and 3D on top of that and with multiple movies and it would rock. It doesn't even have to be a random compilation of paths ala Star Tours, just several randomly played full length shows would be big improvement. Like this Utube show might be good July 4th theme movie. Imagine metropolis themes, nature themes or even recreate the 7 wonders of the world.

I've said this before, but I think what they've done with Star Tours is the general foundation of how they can keep certain rides "fresh" for repeat guests. That is, have multiple "branch" points in the film, each with a variety of options that is randomly selected for each ride.

And it's quite possible to do, though it will take some work. First and foremost, they'll need to switch from film to digital projection. They'll need to sync up appropriate ride movements and musical score to make the transitions seamless. And they'll have to rework the ride control systems to account for the various options rather than a set script.

But it can be done, and once done, it should be far simpler to add to the available options as it was to put the system in in the first place.

Agreed that all future refurbs r new rides operating on a film basis: 3d movies, soarin, star tours, etc. shoud adopt this approach. But it doesn't change the original point someone made. Disney doesn't have incentive to update the film... Is still popular. Truthfully, I'd much rather they spent money upgrading other areas before Soarin.

It's not just disney. I just get put off in general. The thing that really makes me angry is the fact I have to take vacation days from work for my holidays and Christmas and Easter are national holidays. Separation of church and state my A**

Separation of church and state is solely about separation from the government. It has no bearing on private business's who can celebrate any holiday they wish.

Also to point out, Disney and many others push the pagan side of the holidays, not the religious side, with. The exception of the processional. Otherwise trees, presents, even the December date are all steeped in pagan symbology and tradition that was adopted back in the day to help covert people (although the origin of the Xmas tree is debated). Doesn't chafe your objections, just want to present the correct facts.

How much better would the ride be if it randomly chose different locations to soar over. One time it may be California, the next the UK or the next Australia. Whilst having multiple films may be costly to produce, surely as one person mentioned in this thread that Soarin was a great advert for California, national tourist boards would help fund the production costs.

I know here in Australia we spend 10's of millions of dollars every year promoting tourism down under. What better way than this to show off your country.

Now that Horizons is gone, Soarin is our only source for that orange smell:)

Some companies allow "floating" holidays that would allow you to work the National holiday, such as Christmas, and allow you to take the holiday at another time so as to allow you to celebrate your religious holiday. Would your company allow you to do this? This would benefit both the company and the employee, especially if the company operates 24/7 or 7 days a week. It doesn't hurt to ask, if your company does not close for holidays. :surfweb:
