Will the crowds ease up after New Year's?

I was thinking of going over for the day on Jan. 2 or 3, but I was wondering how crowded it would be. I know it is busier around the holidays.

I went on Monday, and it was packed. Will the crowd level be similar?

In past years the crowds start to Die off on January 2nd and by the 3rd it is a virtual ghost town in the parks. It is usually a great time to go. You can never tell though, but it will definetly be less crowded than it is right now.

We've been to WDW 3 times at New Years.
On New Year's Day morning, it was very quiet (everyone sleeping in after a late night), but things picked up as the day went on. On the 2nd, it was much quieter than it is between Christmas and New Years Eve. By the 3rd, the place looked almost deserted.

You should have a relaxing week. We were there last year and crowds were low.

Expect the crowds to elevate on the 6th, 7th, and 8th as the half and full marathon runners, their families and support teams arrive. It's not going to be crazy busy, but it will be a bit busier than you might expect.

I hope so, we will be there all week. I have my fingers crossed.

We're hoping the same. We will be there from 1/2 to 1/9. Maybe we'll see you - look for the 2 couples enjoying our first Disney trip without kids.

I work @ Thunder Mountain RR in the MK. THey expect the crowds to lessen on the 2nd of January....Since I am a seasonal college student, my last day is on the third until summer time!
Happy Hidden Mickey hunting!
Come to see Deja at Thunder Mountain if you can!

We usually go then. The first week of Jan throughout is actually more crowded than most of the rest of Jan. Modern pattern is for people to start to leave the day after the last day off, and this year the 2nd is the last day off. It will be hugely crowded the 2d and begin to taper off the 3d but still fairly large crowd and by the 4th it might become fairly pleasant except there is quirk this year. There are a number of schools in the US that have set their winter break this year for December 23 through January 8. Thus, you could see a larger crowd than usual even through the 8th.

We'll keep our fingers crossed the crowd level is low like in previous years - we'll be there from Jan 1-8.

Last year it was still fairly busy on the 2nd ( not bad though ) - and it was dead on the 3rd

We'll be there from 1/1-1/7. We have that week off of school too. It will be busier than normal but still better than the week before and after Christmas.
