My last stay at the Fort was back in 1995 camping on a college spring break. I have many fond memories of laying in the beach hammocks late at night by myself and looking out on the water, and up at the stars. It was very peaceful and relaxing.
My wife and I stayed at Dixie Landings for our honeymoon, and at Port Orleans French Quarter for our first anniversary, back in 1997-98. I made a special effort on both trips to visit the Fort's beach in the evening so I could share a hammock with her and watch the water. Both times I was disappointed to find no trace of the hammocks I remembered. Since then, we've stayed at Port Orleans in 2007, and off-site at Buena Vista Suites in 2008, with our three children (girl 2, and boys 4, 6), but we haven't made it back to the Fort.
We weren't planning on returning so soon, but I won an Orbitz sweepstakes for a five day, four night Disney vacation with Park Hopper tickets and a gift card. We decided to try the Cabins, and extend our stay to seven days so the grandparents could come along using the 7 for 4 offer (at Coronado Springs because of price and bed size
).
Anyway, we'll be there March 17-24, and I was wondering if the beach hammocks had returned. I searched the board and found that at least as of Thanksgiving last year they were still MIA, but I guess the support poles were still around. Does anyone know when or if they have returned? Should I just bring my own and pretend it's ok to use the poles

I had the best nap of my life on the hammocks on the beach....they have to bring them back to the Fort...petition anyone?
