Hi all!,

I'm new to this Board, and have been reading all of the threads about which bags to use in the park. I plan to bring my Maclaren Volo with me, and keep an inexpensive backpack in the stroller with the bulk of my supplies, but need a bag to hold my valuables and bare necessities to bring on the rides. I got a Baggallini messenger, but it's just not that comfortable for me, and I need an alternative. I would like to find a sling bag that works for me, so I'm hoping the Ameribag will be the answer, but I've never seen them in person.

I am thinking of getting either the small DNA sling or the small distressed nylon ... but I need advice on the right size to get, and most importantly, I want to make sure that the bag buy can be worn across the body b/c I've read some reviews which say it won't fit that way.

I want it to hold:
a small change purse for money (I just bought a lanyard with an attached pouch to keep the tickets, fast pass, dining card, and will wear that around my neck).
water bottle for me
foogoo thermos for DD
video camera (very small, about the size of my digital camera)
digital camera
travel wipes
small purell
snack bar for DD
snack bar for me
thin, light overshirt for DD in case she gets cold on a ride
small pouch of essentials like chapstick, extra contacts, bandaids, small scissors etc...

***I may also have those mister/handheld fans, and would like to be able to shove something small in if I have to, so I don't want it to be a super tight fit.

Anyone have these bags or has anyone seen them?

I appreciate any advice!

:welcome:

I'm the type of person who needs the item right in front of me to see if it will work or not. All the size demisions given in the description do not help me...I need to feel and touch it.

That said, some AAA offices sell these bags. Mine does, and after seeing and touching and trying them on I decided they weren't for me. Call your local AAA office and see if they have them...and give them a looksie. ;)

Thanks so much for the nice welcome! I also need to "play" with a bag to see if it works for me. I'm going to check out my local AAA office and see if they carry them -- thanks for the tip!

I really have found that my Knapsack, made of cotten with a drawstring (and then I added a velcro strip inside as extra security) is AWESOME for the parks.

My hands are free, it holds everything I want, I hang my laminated DIS Lime Mickey and of course Tinkerbell on the outside and it is lightweight. I even put certain items in ziplocs inside it, like an extra pair of socks for DS after they inevitably get wet). It works so well for us. By the way, I also type out and shrink then laminate ALL our ADR's for trip and hang it outside too, so easy to see/reach.

Works for our family each year. Whatever you get/choose have a great trip!!

Sorry to be sooooooo clueless-- I'm such a newbie -- but what does ADR and DIS stand for? :upsidedow

Also, what brand knapsack do you have? Anything that's really lightweight is a good option for me b/c I'm so tired of lugging around a heavy bag. If I didn't have the stroller, for sure I'd be loaded down with a heavy backpack, so I'm psyched I can leave the heavy bag behind!

Not clueless, just new here. We all were once  I still have to ask about some abrevations. ADR stands for Advance Dining Reservations and Dis stands for The Disboards.

 I'm reading your mind...the Dis green Mickey mentioned in an earlier post is what us Diser's use to identify each other so we can say hi. They are paint chip cards from Home Depot which are in the exact shape of a Mickey head. I think they are Alien Green or some other shade of green (it's a lime, neon green color). Cut it out, laminate it and wear it prouldy. I think some here also put them on their resort windows. It's just a fun little thing to do.

Mention Disboards while at Disney and you'll be surprised at how many others have been here before.

I have this bag and love it: http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/t...tx=mode+matchall&Nty=1&Ntt=ameribag&noImage=0

The straps have a gripper on them so they don't slide off of you. it's also VERY lightweight.

Your the first person I've found that has this bag!! I'm really considering it for our next trip. Can you tell me a little more about it. How much does it hold, how does it hang on you, etc... I love the look of it, it's very stylish.

During our June trip, I saw so many moms with the Crocs Sling

One mom in the elevator of the GF swore to me it was the best bag she ever purchased for the parks. It was attractive, but it's just not me.

It is actually very roomy inside and holds a good bit. I even keep my water in the bag when I visit amusement parks.

It has a back wall pocket and a zip side pocket(which I store my makeup in), both inside. Has a top zipper and side zipper for inside access. There is a credit card/money holder in the front zip compartment. Also contains a back zip panel (stays against your back). I believe the straps were very long and I tied mine using black zip ties because I only wear it on one shoulder.

If there is anything I left out, please don't hesitate to ask.

So you don't actually wear it like a sling. I'm glad you can do that.

Would diapers and wipes fit in the main compartment?

I'm trying to downside from a LeSportSac tote bag. I really want to carry only the necessities.

Hey, are your from PA? I see your Knobell's sign. I have a weekend house in the Poconos. We're trying to plan a trip to Knobells soon. We usually go to the Land of Make Believe in NJ, perfect for my little ones.
