:rotfl:Ok, will someone explain the thing about the "new point charts" to me? When you buy into DVC do the required points needed change or are they supposed to be locked in forever? I'm confused. I mean can Disney up the amount of points each year like they can raise the rates at the resorts each year? I am just curious really. I am thinking about possilbly renting some points for next year, maybe if we don't stay at CSR and I can already see I will be needing more points.:sad2: Oh, well. I'll be ok!

Hi ShellyLynn:wave:

The points are locked in, but they follow the what goes up comes down saying. If a studio goes up on a weekday, a weekend will come down. The points are basically the same. But it will never take "More" points for a stay.

Example: A studio in adventure season weekday is 8 points a night in 2009, and a weekend(Fri-Sat) is 16 totaling 72 points for 7 days. In 2010 however, the weekdays are 9 points, and the weekends are reduced to 14 totaling 73 points for a 7 night stay. However, a stay for the same length in 2010 in the same accommodation in a different season might be less compared to what it was in 2009.

Hope this helps.

the total point charts for the resort (take the total number of rooms - studios through GVs - times the number of pts per night for all of 365 nights) cannot change. that is locked in forever.

if they raise the cost of weeknights, they have to lower the cost of weekend nights.

if they raise the cost of studios, they have to lower the cost of 1BRs.

if they raise the cost of the first week of december, they have to lower the cost of a week somewhere else in the year.

but any given individual night for any given room type is subject to change.

To put it another way, the totals don't change but everything else can.
