Will Soarin' make me dizzy?

My son has a Kart game for his Wii and I cannot watch him for more than about a minute because I start to feel dizzy. Will Soarin' make me feel that way too? I would hate to spend the rest of the day feeling bad. I guess I could just close my eyes if I started to feel bad. Does anyone else get dizzy easily and have Soarin' experience???

I can't stand soarin. I can do any sort of thrill ride, I can go upside down, I can go tea-cuppy spinny, I can do mission space spinny, I can be plunged off the tower of terror, but I cannot do soarin.

I was so terrified that I was going to fall off my seat and into the movie that I just had to sit with my eyes closed - grasping for dear life at the little tiny seat belt...

I will not be doing soarin...ever ....again.

WOW! I'm kinda like you, I love the thrill rides, I can do Star Tours and love all roller coasters. I cannot do the tea cups though. UGH! I gladly stand outside the ride and take photos as my people go by. I am starting to get pretty concerned about Soarin'. My family really wants to ride, so maybe I'll either go with them and keep my eyes shut or take a moment to shop alone.

I felt very woozy on Soarin'. Dizzy, kinda pukey....and by the time I realized "hey, this ride is making me feel icky", shutting my eyes didn't help. I'd say just start off with them closed if you are prone to any kind of motion sickness. Sorry....

I cannot watch my husband or daughter play video games - they make me sick to my stomach and sometimes so nauseated that I have to go lay down. Especially the car games or ones that are interactive where they have challenges and need to run around a lot.

I have no issues with Soarin' whatsoever. It is my favorite EPCOT attraction. :)

If you can do Star Tours I don't think you'll have any problem with Soarin'. It feels like a smooth ride compared to that. Star Tours makes me sick as do the teacups. No problem with Soarin'...LOVE it!

Give say give it a try. My 4 yr. old twin daughters complain of stomach "flips" just riding over a hill in the car and they were fine. I get motion sickness myself but I didn't have a problem with it either.

I was really worried about Soarin as I'm in the same boat as many of you - I can do REAL thrill rides and roller coasters all day long (the more loops/faster the better!) but the "virtual reality" rides totally make me sick.

I'd been avoiding Soarin for years because of this, but after talking with a bunch of people I decided to give it a try last month.

No problem! :thumbsup2

I think maybe it's because the seat doesn't move all that much (compared to Star Tours, Body Wars, etc..). I just looked straight ahead and enjoyed it very much! I also think that unlike other VR rides I've tried (Back to the Future at US, the one at Sea World) I could have closed my eyes and been fine if it had gotten to be too much. On those others, closing my eyes actually seemed to make it worse. :crazy2:

Agreed!! Like night and day IMO.

I can't do attractions like Star Tours, but I had no problem with Soarin. You should be fine. :thumbsup2

I wouldn't think Soarin' would make you dizzy, but you could always take Dramamine or something before you are going to ride it.

Ditto on Mario Kart, I can't watch it being played. Soarin' always makes me dizzy, but not horribly so. I just close my eyes for a minute if it get too bad.

I had to laugh when I read this because I went on this ride for the first time in 2007 when we were there. I got on not expecting it to go up and it did. But anyway it went up and I grabbed my husbands hand and said I don't like this. With all these kids around and three of them being mine. LOL

Anyway when the window opened and we started gliding I had to shut my eyes because I thought that I was going to get sick. I opened them once in awhile to see what my kids were ooohhh and ahhhh over but they would go right back shut. When I went to get off my legs felt like jello.

We are heading back to the world in eight days and will I do the ride again ???

YES I will do it again my kids have already asked me

:rolleyes2

I am in that boat also. Have not ridden it yet but am considering skipping it. I will prob. take dramamene any way just in case. I can not watch most of Mario cart, I-max, motion simulator rides...

I don't see how Soarin' would make you dizzy. It might give you a drop-in-the-stomach feeling a couple of times (like going over a bump in the road). And if you are afraid of heights it might make you feel funny (you're not that high off the ground, but the movie makes you think you are). But dizzy - no, I don't think so.

It's a wonderful ride! Makes you feel like you are hang-gliding - but that's something I would never really do, so Soarin let's me pretend that I am.

I have been on Soarin' several times. I start out okay but about 1/2 way thru it I start getting dizzy. I usually close my eyes for a minute or so and I'm okay. I will be taking my mom on her first trip in June and I have already told her she does not want to ride it because she gets sick just watching a 3-D movie!:crazy2:

I avoid all the thrill rides, I have moderate to severe motion sickness, and Soarin' makes me dizzy, but it wears off soon after the ride, it's not that lingering all day room spinning dizzy like say Teacups. I guess it all depends on how bad you want to experience it. I personally don't think I will ever ride it again, just not worth it.

I had no problems with it...Its a little scary because it feels like you might fall out of your seat, but its still a very fun ride.

Note that you can get motion sickness from watching someone else play a video game, but then not actually get it when playing the game yourself. (Not sure why, but I would guess it's because the player's brain knows what to expect, and the spectator's doesn't.)

So you may be fine on Soarin'.

Lol, I'm glad I'm not alone, I get the same feeling on Soarin:scared:. I am terrified of falling the whole time and freaking out that one of my kids are going to take a tumble, but my kids love it so I deal with it.. I must admit though I turn into an evil mom and smile inside when I see a long wait or see that no fast passes are available.
