Will Smith Apology

I heard he was presented with a goat the other night. Didn't know it was named Will Smith. I can see why Will Smith decided to apologize make a statement now, as other successful celebrities are gathering and laughing at his expense now.

Questlove was at the show that night too. He's the one who received the Oscar right after the slap. I saw pics of him backstage with Chris and Kevin. Seems like everyone is team Chris and Will knows it.

There is a line. Kevin Spacey, as much as I loved his work, crossed that line. I think Will Smith did too. Cara Dune? I'm not as convinced.

You can't really compare Kevin Spacey to this because what he did was far worse than a slap to the face.

will's original action was inappropriate and vile, his lack of remorse IMMEDIATELY was inappropriate and vile; that his actions are viewed as something to be celebrated and publicly applauded by his adult child speaks volumes to the true mindset of this family.

We were actually talking about this recently at dinner. Watching the incident, he didn't seem angry or truly upset. It wasn't an immediate uncontrollable emotional reaction; it was very deliberate and he appeared to be seeking approval and encouragement while he was doing it. I think in his mind he was 100% certain that it would be a really "cool" thing to do and everyone was going to cheer him and the internet would explode with lauding how awesome he was. Instead, it was pretty much universally condemned. I think that was a complete shock to him.

I think it's an example of when someone is so famous/rich/powerful that they are constantly surrounded only by people who praise and laugh at everything they do or say that they start to lose touch with what "real" people actually think about them or their behavior.

Sorry, Will, I don't think anybody is buying this as anything other than a bid to save your career.

It's sad because he won the Best Acting Oscar and he SHOULD be celebrating a huge professional victory. Instead all anybody remembers from his big night is the slap and his career might be more or less over because of it.

The Will Smith-Jada Pinkett Smith household/family is...weird. For example, I don't understand why the heck would a set of parents in their right mind would let their 15 year old son become an emancipated minor, allow him to move out and live entirely on his own without any further supervision.

....unless you'd done such a lousy job at parenting that your kid wanted to get as far away from you as possible.

And don't get me started with all of the Jada Pinkett Smith sleeping around thing. Oh boy. Honestly, I don't understand why the 2 of them are still married.

This latest nonsense is kind of more of the same...just another flavor of ice cream at the 31 Flavors of Will Smith Crazy. It's sad to watch it all unfold because for many years, he's been like the golden child of Hollywood. And he is a good actor. But man, in his personal life, he's totally screwing it all up.

So just watched a recap of this "apology" on ABC World News Tonight. Seriously, that was the most pathetic thing ever. Will is on some filmed set, explaining the situation, "apologizing", etc, then the commentary says that there's been no comment from Chris Rock on the apology. Again, how pathetic. Will, this is between you and Chris. Not you, through social media, to Chris. Be a human being, have your people contact Chris' people, set a date, meet FACE to FACE, and APOLOGIZE. We don't need your drama.

sony 'delayed' a film, totally shelved plans for 'bad boys 4'

the start of filming of his nat geo series was delayed until 'fall of 2022' (ummmmm who films in the north and south pole in fall and winter?).

per imdb his last acting gig was in 2022 on a roku show called 'the joka' which was cancelled after it began airing a couple of weeks before the oscars. ironically the premise of the show reads as

Smith invites a diverse lineup of up-and-coming, established, and legendary comedians to explore the nature of comedy and its unique ability to bring people together.

I couldn't even watch it, I started the video but it gives me vibes of my abusive ex husband "apologizing" and I had to turn it off. If Chris Rock accepts his apology then that's great and I hope he truly is sorry, but I honestly don't care what he says, I'll never be able to watch him in another move. Maybe he's always been an explosive, angry jerk but the problem is now we all know about it.

It appears that Chis is riding that wave of sentiment right now. His star is brighter because of being slapped. I don’t see him accepting an apology any time soon.

NOT that I'm in any way condoning Smith - as I was disgusted and lost all respect for him- and I had always admired his work. But I'm also fed up with expectations being so different for certain people vs others.

Like sports stars. How many pro athletes over the years have beat their wives and girlfriends, abused animals, committed assault and battery, shot people and done other horrendous things - and BAM - a short time behind bars, if any - others just probation or slap on the wrist or fake apology and all is magically forgiven as they are allowed to play again for big bucks, with moronic sports fans cheering them on. Athletes often get a pass on things even actors and A list celebs can't get.
