Will Smith Apology

Yeah, the only person who can judge this apology is Chris Rock, as it is directed to him. He can decide to accept it or not. Personally, I don't care to pick it apart since its not for me to decide how effective or sincere it is.
AND, I should have added, Chris doesn't need an apology or even an acknowledgement from Will to forgive him. I would also say this takes time an I DON'T think Chris has really forgiven him NMW he might have said publicly. Not yet anyway.

I think it's perfectly fine to evaluate Will Smith's words. Smith opted to make a public statement to Chris Rock.
And Chris can decide how, when or whether to respond.

so now is jaden going to post a video and try to explain away and 'apologize' for his immediate tweet when it happened?

"And That's How We Do It".

will's original action was inappropriate and vile, his lack of remorse IMMEDIATELY was inappropriate and vile; that his actions are viewed as something to be celebrated and publicly applauded by his adult child :sad2: :sad2: :sad2: :sad2: speaks volumes to the true mindset of this family.

just.....leave......us.....out of it.

It's fine to have an opinion - it's all in the public. I jsut don't have strong feelings on it either way and I think the only opinion that matters is Chris Rock's.

To me it seems like he was coached, probably by Jada, and it didn’t really seem sincere. He’s an actor, and although it “seemed” like he was talking freely I’m pretty sure it was all rehearsed. I’m apt to believe that this is in response to Chris Rock’s performance with Kevin Hart and Dave Chapelle. The timing is just too coincidental.

I guess when I hear him bring up the fact that he felt what Chris said was insulting and disrespectful and how he has experienced trauma from this, it doesn’t come across as a sincere apology. It just seems to come across as, “feel sorry for me.”
I don’t know. It seemed kind of cringy to me.

Agreed. "I'm sorry but...." isn't an apology. It's an excuse.

Or we can stop having people dropped from films when something happens that isnt liked.
I think that depends on the circumstances. In Smith's case, there were no questionable accusations, he openly slapped Chris Rock on stage at the Oscars. Some actors are dropped from films due to poor conduct on set, and while the Oscars isn't a film set, everyone in the industry saw this and may come to their own conclusions about prospectively working with Smith.

Will Smith damaged his own public image, which will also affect his bankability at the box office. Smith might be able to turn this around later. Actors have made comebacks after some big mistakes, but unfortunately for Smith, his conduct was on public display at a high-profile event, and that image will linger.

I don't think Will should be removed from the industry permanently, but he could find a better way to make amends.

After the first question asking why didn't he apologize to Chris in his acceptance speech, he said he was fogged out and it's all fuzzy. Yeah, Chris Rock's face was all fogged out and fuzzy too. :sad2:

Then he said he did try to apologize to Chris, but Chris isn't ready to talk to him. So, the implication is it's now CHRIS' FAULT the apology hasn't been received???

Ah, NO! Chris is the VICTIM here. Along with Questlove, his mama and family. And the Academy members who witnessed the violence first hand, then were left sitting there as Will was allowed to stay in the room. Will Smith & Jada do not get to be the victims in this situation that WIll Smith created. Chris never has to accept his apology if he doesn't want to.

This speech was definitely rehearsed, and probably re-shot several times so the apology was perfect. Notice all the different camera angles? And Will knew exactly where to look, for the questions and which camera would be on him as he answered.

Meanwhile, Chris Rock is performing sold out shows with Kevin Hart and Dave Chapelle. Chris even briefly addressed the Will Smith thing onstage. At the last show, Kevin Hart jokingly presented Chris with a live goat (as in greatest of all time). The goat was named Will Smith.

This was all over social media in the last few days. Then, boom, Will Smith pops his head up again.

I’m apt to believe that this is in response to Chris Rock’s performance with Kevin Hart and Dave Chapelle. The timing is just too coincidental.

Yes, Dave Chappelle was on stage 6 weeks ago and some guy got up on stage and attacked him. Chris Rock & others came out on stage to see if Dave is all right, and Chris made the only comment he's made so far about Will Smith, joking, "Is that Will Smith?"

I heard he was presented with a goat the other night. Didn't know it was named Will Smith. :lmao: I can see why Will Smith decided to apologize make a statement now, as other successful celebrities are gathering and laughing at his expense now. Will's oscar statue must look like it's going to be pretty lonely up there now on the mantle.
