We booked our family cruise for Sept 2016 a while ago when I started to research cruises and thought wow it would be neat to go on a Disney cruise with our two kids and have that also be our very first cruise. So we booked that cruise and its about paid for. Well after a month of researching some more and the fact I just didnt want to wait for more than an entire year to try cruising, I decided to book a Disney cruise just for my husband and I for our anniversary which is set for Feb 2016. Problem is, both cruises have the date to check in set to 75 days. Will the 2nd one change once we have gone on the one in Feb or will I need to call them as I would like to be able to check in at the 90 day window instead of the 75 for our second cruise.

It will change. I think I had to call after my 1st cruise. But the phone call was easy. I don't remember what the call was about, but I do remember making it.

Yes it will change. After your first cruise you will be able to log in as a Castaway Club member and it will show your status. You checkin date for the second cruise will change to reflect your Silver status.

Yes. I did the same thing. I had a 7 night on the Fantasy booked for me and my DD for June, then decided to do a solo cruise on the Dream last October. My Castaway Club status automatically updated online after my solo cruise and I was able to check in for our 7 night Fantasy cruise at 90 days.

I don't know if this will be a big deal for your kids or not but when you go on the family cruise you and your DH will receive a silver Castaway Club lanyard to put your KTTW cards in, so you may want to pick up a couple for them. Just my $.02

My understanding was everyone in the room gets the lanyard so the kids would get them too. This has always been my experience anyway but maybe this is a new thing as have cruised solo these last 2 years.

It really depends on the agent that checks you in. The rule is that the lanyards only go to past cruisers (so in this case Mom & Dad and the kids would not get lanyards). For a while they were real sticklers with the lanyard rule. Lately, I have seen some agents either not pay attention to who is a return cruiser and just give everyone a lanyard. Or be sympathetic to kids who are cruising for the first time with others that have cruised before and make an exception to the rule.

But I think it's fair advice for them to expect that first time cruisers won't get lanyards and to prepare if that's going to be an issue.

No. My experience was you are only given the lanyards for the cruisers who are actually Sllver. Maybe they would have given me extra lanyards if I had asked but I was only offered the one for me.

Yep we already bought two since we havent been on one yet and will need them in Feb so I figured we could give the kids those or just keep and let the kids use the ones we will receive on our second cruise. Thanks for the reminder though!

You can ask for an extra pouch for your youngest (doubt she would need her card anyway) and keep it on one of the parent's lanyards.

The nice thing is that on your family cruise you can book excursions for everyone in your cabin at the 90 day mark regardless of their status.

LOL My thoughts exactly when I was booking just my hubby and my anniversary cruise :-D

If you are a DVc member, they also hand out lanyards. They have a unique way of combining the two also.
