Will Matthew effect crowds next week?

We are due to fly in on the 12th from Colorado. I feel worried now that I hear about it looping back in.

The looping looks less likely now. I'm most concerned about the aftermath with food issues and power outages.

Due to fly into Tampa on the 13th, and then my sis and I arrive to WDW on Friday, the 14th. I really hope this is a lot more hype than it all pans out to be, and that it does not loop at previously mentioned! Stay safe, everyone!!

I'm guessing fall break crowds will still be there, but maybe slightly less? It probably depends a lot on what happens with Sat flights since your Fall Breakers are prob flying in then instead of Friday, which is when a lot of the cancellations are.

First let me say that crowds at Disney after the storm is absolutely nothing in the face of what some might encounter during this storm. Life and property are obviously the most important.

However I am curious if anyone has been after a storm and noticed a difference? We arrive Sunday. I'm wondering if there will be food at the groceries and if the parks might be more/less crowded in the wake of the storm.

10 years ago, I would have said definitely fewer people. But these days, it seems people are adamant about taking their vacations come hell or high water. So who the heck knows what's running through people's minds.

I can also see MORE people coming hoping for low crowds. I remember reading that going during or just after a hurricane was low level crowds.

Grocery stores all around Orlando are pretty much out of water right now - our local Publix last night was also completely out of things like crackers, diapers, canned goods, etc. It was crazy.

What happens next week will depend on how badly we get hit and the resulting damage.

I remember going in August 2004. Big hurricane had just hit and Disney World was basically deserted for the first days of the trip. It was bliss.

I heard it as well, that it could circle back and hit again. At first I thought it was a joke, but apparently one model has that happening. Unlikely, but something to watch.

I dunno, there are more models showing it coming back across. Granted, closer to miami, but think there are 3 or 4 models with that where a day or 2 ago, just one.

And, oh yea, we are supposed to head down next Friday, which would be hopefully a day after it was supposed to go across again.

edit: Looking at another run, if it turns around it should cross Fl again, Tues or Wed..

Stores run out of water and certain foods while every is stocking up, but the Public has been great about restocking. Out of water yesterday, got more in today. Lots of food on the shelves. Sams had tons of water.

Doing my single digit dance and hopeful any loop back nonsense will not happen. No one needs this cr*p twice. Matthew, you're not wanted. Go out to sea where you belong!

Praying for everyone there now and all the locals that they get through this safely and with minimal damage.

We fly in on Oct 13 also. Not sure what to think about this looping back info. Some say it's possible but not likely. Guess it's a waiting game.

We arrived right after the hurricane in 2004. Resorts were busy, with people who had evacuated their homes and were staying at Disney. Parks, when they reopened, were empty.

We fly in on the 14th. It will be interesting to see how the crowds are affected. To be honest, right now I feel very fortunate that our vacation hasn't been affected by Matthew (yet) and will enjoy our time at the parks no matter how busy it is. I feel terrible for anyone there now and am just hopeful for everyone's safety and well-being across the south-eastern coastal states.

Feel bad for everyone who has had to cancel their trips. Our trip was originally scheduled to be this weekend (7th-10th) but we changed it about 6 weeks ago when we found out the kids didn't have Columbus Day off from school anymore so it didn't really matter which week we went so we changed to the 14th-17th thinking it would be a little less crowded. Crossing fingers that it doesn't loop back around. Be safe everyone!

I am not the predictor of all things Disney but I did just get last minute reservations to Be Our Guest and Ohana for next week.
