Will it make a difference?

We will be a grand gathering this December with three rooms. We would rather ***e in late on a Friday night and have all day Saturday for the parks, but I am concerned about not being near each other with a late arrival (10:30 pm). Would they break us up to satisfy other arrivals throughout the day or do you think our rooms would be safe from change once assigned?

With a regular reservation I would say yes, coming in late may affect you... but if you are booked as a Grand Gathering I would not worry about it. Each Hotel has a Grand Gathering CM that gets all the information and pre-assigns the rooms to be as close together as possible. They are tagged as Grand Gatherings and it is the "unwritten" forbidden rule that you can not touch a Grand Gathering booking without talking to the Grand Gathering CM who of course will say NO you can't move it.

call the morning of check in and remind them that you are a grand gathering. this way they can assign you all rooms together before you arrive. also, when the first people check in make sure that they remind the cast member that you want rooms together and this way they can fix rooming arrangements if they aren't the way you all want it.

At Disneyland Hotel, we checked in waaaay before check in time (they let you do this to drop your bags off, so you don't have to come back to the hotel in the middle of your day and check in). We had three families and only two were next to each other. The other was down the hall, but no biggie since we just slept there.

I've never been a GG, but I would check and double check a few days before, and then again the day before. But that's just because I am kind of a paranoid freak like that.

GL and have fun!

As I mentioned Grand Gatherings are not done the same as regular reservations, they are ALWAYS pre-assigned. They are not done by the actual front desk room assigner, there is a CM that is dedicated to Grand Gatherings at each hotel. If you do want to call in advance, you will get the call center NOT the front desk directly...calls go through the resort call center so tell them that you need to talk to the Grand Gathering assistant at the front desk. If they ask you why explain that you are coming in on a Grand Gathering and you need to speak to them directly. When you get the actual front desk you can ask for the GG assistant and if they are not avaialable you can talk to whoever answers at that point as that would be the back office operation support CM's...
