My 10 year old diswasher sounds like it is on it last leg. My wife is afraid that the installation of a new one will damage the new floor we put in last year. Does anyone have any experience with this?

I would think if you were careful taking the old one out and putting the new one in it shouldn't hurt the new floor. It never damaged my floor when we installed a new dishwasher.

as long as you are careful should be no problem.

i agree and if your still unsure use a piece of cardboard down to slide it into place then pull it out when in.

We just installed one this year, and our ceramic tile still looks perfect. As long as you are careful, nothing to worry about...

now our countertop on the other hand... that wasn't as easy to deal with...

Having installed/replaced two dishwashers I can tell you that you should have no problem replacing it and keeping your floor nice and pristine. The installation directions for the dishwasher are very good about protecting the floor - even doing things I normally wouldn't have normally done (or cared to do) to protect the floor. With the proper tools and connectors, you should be able to install in an evening.

Be aware that at 10 years old, you may need a newer connector for your water line. Check the instructions and follow them closely when it explains how to figure out the connector you need.

My dh installed our new dishwasher and it didn't do any damage. We have vinyl flooring. I can't remember if he had the cardboard down to protect it... I was more worried that he wouldn't connect it right and we'd have a mess of water on the floor after running it the first time! But he proved me wrong, he did a perfect job. :)
