Will I regret requesting BW view at BWV?

Just as we all have favorite resorts and attractions at WDW we have room/view preferences. No one is right and no one is wrong. It's all about what's best for you and your family.

I have never stayed in a BW view room at BWV. I don't doubt I would enjoy the view very much if I did. BUT I value my points more than I value a view. I would rather visit BWV more frequently with a standard view than use up my points (and go less frequently or stay fewer days) getting a BW view.

For those folks who have tons of points I don't doubt that the BW view is great. I have 250 points and I value each and every one. If I want a BW view when I am at BWV I leave my room and go to an area of BWV that has a view! Unless I am on my terrace I can't tell the difference when I am in the room anyway, and I don't spend all that much time on the terrace.

IMHO, the BWV boardwalk view is the very best view of all. We find it well worth the extra points.

I agree with you. The BWV BW view is worth every point and we find it to be the best view to be had from all WDW DVC resorts. The part I do not agree with is that the BWV BW view is the best there is in the whole timeshare world.
We like BWV a lot and especially the BW view villas. They are our favorite WDW DVC villa. But there are timeshares outside of Disney that have timeshare villas with views that give BWV BW views a run for their money. And IMO these timeshare resorts come out way ahead of even BWV in the view category.

While I'm a BWV owner and do like a Boardwalk View, if I had my choice of another WDW view I would take a Contemporary Tower view of Seven Seas lagoon with the MK, GF and Poly off in the distance.

This is EXACTLY why were weren't wow'd by the view. I'm glad you think the view is great, but its this sort of insistance that things are the "best" that leads to "expectation inflation." And it lead to us walking out onto a balcony thinking "this will be incredible" to immediately saying "what was all the fuss about." Which was disappointing. Had we walked into the room with a more factual, (and we did have facts, I looked at photos) more tempered critique, we'd have been quite pleased.

There are things I enjoy about Disney and the combination of experiences it gives can't be beat, but I've slept in better hotel rooms, gotten better service, eaten better food, played better golf courses and had better views. Not that Disney isn't good. I've had consistantly good rooms, service, food, golf and views. (And it does have the nicest theme parks I've ever been to).

For the Boardwalk view, it was very nice, very predictible (which I think is one of its biggest advantages). I'd like it better if Disney would take the big lighted EPCOT off Spaceship Earth - because I think that is ugly. Fireworks will depend on where you are, our fireworks view (2nd floor over the screen door) was mostly blocked by ESPN, so we only saw high ones. We found that we could hear the noise outside (particularly the games and the boat bell, but also people noise) while our doors were shut, but it was at the background noise level and only fireworks were really disturbing (I'd think you'd be able to hear fireworks all over) - and only disappointing in that I'd heard that "once you shut the doors you don't hear anything." I've had nicer views in my opinion in Germany and Colorado (of mountains, coming from a plains state, mountains amaze me), in Phuket, Thailand (stunning oceans and islands in a room on stilts over the ocean), in San Francisco (Palace of Fine Arts to the Golden Gate Bridge from a beautiful penthouse room up the hill), and at WDW (of the castle, I'd rather be able to walk to Epcot, but I rather look out the window at the castle).

I agree with alot of your reply and after reading my reply I could see that it can be read as a "VIEW" only response when I said BWV BW View "EXPERIENCE", meaning the whole experience staying at WDW at BWV and having the BW view while you are there IMHO is the best in all the time share world and the choice I would make if I could only make one choice. I did not mean when you walk out on the balcony at BWV you would suddenly see an unexpected secret suprise view a lot different than if you stand on the boardwalk with your eyes open. I will say as nice as many ocean or mountain scenes there are for screensavers, mine is of Spaceship earth from our BWV BW View room. We have had many of the great views you talk about but there is ZERO chance I would pick any of those vacations over BWV BW View WDW as a favorite. There is no WDW DVC view of the castle.....yet. :bounce:

We just returned from our first trip having a BWV BW view. It was awesome. I loved laying in bed at night and seeing Spaceship Earth. We were on the 5th floor over Big River Grill. On previous trips we have saved on points by staying in Standard View rooms. I was quite happy with those views until now. Then again I used to be happy staying in moderates before DVC. Does anyone see a trend?

I'm about to purchase new at BW and was wondering what the difference is between standard and preferred views. Oh, how long does boat ride to epcot take so you can catch train to MK. Thks

You might get more replies to this if you started a new thread with your question. It can get buried here otherwise, since you're basically going off topic now. Just a suggestion for next time you have a quetion. :goodvibes

But here's your answer:

Standard views usually overlook the main entrance or a small pond by the entranceway to the resort. They are less points than preferred views, which have a couple of categories. There is a guaranteed BW view, which is self explanatory I assume. The other preferred view will overlook one of the pools or (if you end up in the back in the "less preferred" preferred view, MGM. the tennis courts and a parking lot. You have to ask for the BW view when you make your ressie, otherwise you won't get it. And of course they go fast, so there's no guarantee you will get it if you book late. When you get the other sort of preferred view you can request "Quiet Pool" or "Luna Pool" but it's not a guarantee. All that's promised in that circumstance is that it won't be a standard view.

If you are at BWV the boatride to epcot is about 5 minutes, but most everyone that is able bodied walks, it's the same amount of time and there's not always a boat there when you want one. You can do what you said, walk through epcot and get the monorail (you said train but i assume you meant monorail) to the transportation and ticket center and then switch monorails to get to the MK. Many folks do that. But even more take the bus that is right in front of the BW resort that takes you directly to the MK. The bus is shared by the swan and dolphin, so there are a couple of stops. Whichever way you chose figure on 45 minutes from when you leave BW to getting to the MK. It could be less if you're lucky. And BTW when you return to BW from the MK you can get off at the swan or dolphin and walk over the bridge back to BW if you want to save time.

Good luck with your purchase, let us know when you sign the papers so we can officially welcome you home!:wave2:

Just returned from Boardwalk and had a Boardwalk view from the 3rd floor right above Big River Grille. We loved it! Just sat on the balcony and felt like we were treated to our own private fireworks show every night. The funniest thing that happened, though, was when I went out on the balcony and saw a rubber ball and a paper airplane. The paper airplane had a note on it saying that they accidentally dropped their ball onto my balcony and wondered if I could toss it back up to the balcony above me. I managed to sink the free throw and landed it on their balcony. Later that night, a new paper airplane arrived saying "Thank you!" It was a fun time. I highly recommend the Boardwalk view. I guess the only rough part was the long hallway trip to arrive at the room, but most people seem to know about the notorious long hallways.

Ok, I think I get it. There are several preferred views but the only one that you can "lock in" is the BW view.

I didn't realize 45 minutes back to MK. I have a 4 yr old and while wilderness lodge would be nice b/c close to MK all the activity at BW and theme would be more enjoyable to him when getting back from the parks

Thks again

And don't forget he won't stay 4 forever, and you'll have DVC for many years to come. It WILL be harder to get to the MK. But my kids are teenagers and they LOVE being able to walk to either MGM or Epcot, I bet yours will too. I don't even want to TELL you how fast it goes, seems like yesterday my 14 year old was four.

Of course, with DVC comes the perk that you can valet park at any DVC resort. SO, you could car over to WL, valet park and ride the boat to MK!

The disadvantage of walking through Epcot to take the monorail to MK is that it would be a long walk, unless you wanted to get sidetracked and maybe ride Soaring, take in Imagination and THEN catch the mono out front...You also need to get off the mono in the ticket /trans and transfer to the MK mono( or you could walk down to the big boat across too). I should think that 4 year olds would consider the mono or the boat a ride anyway...Don't forget to ask if you can ride up front with the captain (on the monorail.)

BW is our home resort, and during our first trip back in 2001, we requested -- and were fortunate enough to get -- a BW view (back then it could be requested but was not guaranteed, that was subsequently changed to the current guaranteed view policy in 2003).

Our children at the time were four and eight. The memory of sitting with them the night of arrival, out on the balcony in our pajamas watching llluminations is absolutely priceless - so much so that my DW mentioned later that the ambience of that experience alone justfied our entire DVC purchase.

And when we started planning our upcoming August 2005 return, there was no debate when I asked the family where they'd like to stay - Boardwalk, Boardwalk, Boardwalk...."but only if we can get the same kind of room we had last time....." :bounce:

Thanks for info, I wasn't sure which one would be best with a 4 year old: WL, BCV or BWV but I think BWV is right choice overall.
