Will I regret not staying at DLH?

I have been to DL several times and have always wanted to stay at the DLH. The closest I got was PP (when it was still DL Pacific) because I got a good price due to construction. I was planning to stay at DLH this trip but now I am wondering if I should spend the money, and we are now 4 adults and 1 teen and I am thinking we will be happier with a suite or 2 less expensive rooms somewhere else. We always stay on-site at WDW and I love the atmosphere, but DL is different with so many other hotels nearby that are closer than DLH. We are planning to spend a day at Downtown Disney and eating a couple of times at DLH and I am afraid I will regret not staying there if we stay somewhere else, but I am also afraid I will regret staying at DLH if I think we would have been more comfortable somewhere else.

Up until 2 weeks ago, my husband and I have only stayed offsite at DLR. But since we are Annual Pass holders, we thought January would be a good time to see if we could stay onsite. We stayed at DLH and LOVED it! The room was HUGE for us two. There was 2 queen size beds and the room itself was spacious with everything having that disney touch. You definitely feel the difference of staying at DLH versus off site. As my husband said "off site, you almost leave the magic the moment you cross the street to go to your hotel. At DLH (or any of the other hotels) the magic just seems to continue.

When we did stay at DLH 2 weeks ago, we passed by some rooms that seemed to have a door that led to 2 more adjacent doors. We suspect these were the multi-room suites with two rooms next to eachother. I guess in a room like the one we stayed in, a roll out bed would fit somewhere.

Eating at DLH is convienent when you stay there only by mere chance it's right there. Like for instance if you have a character breakfast at Goofy's kitchen, you don't have to allot that extra 15 mins to walk there. But it isn't unbearable to walk. Like I said, I always stayed off site until two weeks ago.

I don't think you will regret it if you stay off site. I guess what comes into question is how long you all plan to stay, what your budget is, and if you want to put the little bit of energy to walk to and from. I love the DLH and you will find it fun and convienent. But I think you won't reget staying off site either. (oh yeah there are shuttles to and from these hotels most of the time).

WHOOO! Sorry for the novella. ;)
