Will I regret it?

Will I regret it if I don't bring the 70/300 lense with my Canon Rebel? I have the kit lense and the big one. It just scares me to carry the big one around all day. Ease my mind, please!!

I'm afraid that if you're on a crop camera, you're likely to be disappointed in the 70-300 as a walk-around lens at WDW. It just has absolutely nothing at the wide end and you're going to miss some things without having the wide end.

If your kit lens is the typical 18-55, it's not a bad piece of glass, especially if you have a good copy. That lens is much more appropriate as a walk-around lens than the 70-300, IMO. WAY more appropriate.

There's definately a need for zooms at Disney, but my personal findings are that I don't use them near as much there as I see a lot of people use them. Like a lot of things, it all depends on what you shoot, primarily.

Depending on the resolutions of your Rebel (You didn't specify the model so I don't know exactly.), you can do a lot of zooming in post good to 4x6 and maybe even 8x10, depending on which camera you have and what resolution you have it set to.

Consider a nice small bag to carry it all around in. It only takes a second to swap a lens, and a lifetime to regret not having the one you wanted when you wanted it. ;)

About the only place my tele lens comes out of the bag is at AK. There are other places that it can be used, but often you can just walk closer and get the shot. That does not mean that your shooting style is the same as mine.

I agree with ukcatfan - the only place at WDW that I normally will use my 70-300 lens is at AK. If you don't want to carry it around with you each day you are at the parks, can you leave it in your room and take it with you when you go to AK, or any other time you think you want it?

That's pretty much exactly what I do and for exactly the same reasons. My biggest exception at the other major gates is at Christmas. I admit I use my zoom a little more around the holidays to get some shots that just aren't as easy when it's really crowded and congested.

Thank you all for the replies! It's a T2i, and I love it! Still learning how to use it, but I'm getting a little better. I'm really feeling both lenses. Thanks again!

Another vote for bringing both lenses. Decide once you get there what you want to carry each day.

I'm not a Canon shooter but the 70-300 doesn't seem sizewise to be a very big lens compared to the 70-200 f2.8. I would carry it because as some have said you will need it for AK, but also I have found the foot zoom isn't always an option, AKA, the shows in front of the castle. I have also used the extended reach at Epcot when shooting across the bay for some of my night photography. At some of the auditorium type shows you may also need the extra reach. Do I like wider, yes, sometimes. When at WDW, I primarily carry the 18-55 (kit), 28-70 f2.8 (walkaround) and the 70-200 f2.8. Eventually, I need to add the 30 f1.4 for the dark rides.
