Will I regret flip flops?

I am going in September. I wear flip flops everywhere in the summer. I don't have any special kind just plain old flip flops.
If I wear them to Disney what are the odds my feet will be killing me?
Some people say they always do fine and others have told me just wear tennis shoes everyday

You would know your feet best. I never have a problem with flip flops at the parks (except for when it rains :rotfl:), my feet stay cool and they never ache. If you're not used to wearing them then I would suggest against it, as they are not exactly the best for arch support.

Close your eyes and imagine this: Your car breaks down on the highway, about 7-8 miles from the next exit. It is 95 degrees with 100% humidity. What do you want on your feet in order to make that 7-8 mile hike?

Because that's what you'll be walking in a single day at WDW. (Of course, the highway analogy isn't perfect, but you get the idea. You will spend some time sitting in shows, rides, etc. but you'll also spend a lot of time simply standing, which I find a lot harder on my feet than walking.)

We all take one of each. I wear my sneakers a couple of times during the trip just to keep comfy. I LOVE my flip flops (Nike and Teva) and will wear them the majority of the time.

Personal choice I think. How much walking do you do and what rides might you go on make the difference for us.

I just wore flip flops last time and never had any problems. I don't like wearing socks and shoes when its hot.

As much as we love wearing flip flops, we tend to use sneakers during the day at the parks as we cover a lot of ground, are always on the go and want the extra support. I, personally, have arch & heel issues and even with the expensive flip flops that I have, I could never wear them all day long. At night, we tend to be more relaxed, not running around as much so we switch to flip flops to give our feet "air time". Like a PP said, you know you're feet best.

If you wear them all the time then it shouldn't be a problem. I wear mine at Disney because it is too hot for me for socks and shoes. The only problem I had was on a day it rained, hard, and I had on brown leather flip-flops. My feet were discolored for nearly a week!

I wore flip flops last year the whole time and we where for 10 days and had no problems. We are leaving friday :cool1::banana::yay: and I am just taking flip flops. the boys and Hubby wear tennis shoes but they also take there flip flops for water park days.

i wear flip flops all summer and i wear them at disney and my feet never feel any worse than they do when i wear shoes

As long as you bring/wear comfortable flip flops you shouldn't have a problem. I wore Croc flip flips for 8 days straight at Disney in June and my feet were happy!

I go to WDW several times a year and always wear flip flops. Now I have plantar fasciitis, so have to be careful what kind I wear. I require quite a bit of arch support and heel cushioning. I can no longer wear the cheapo flip flops. I pay more for the ones I do wear, but they are sooo worth it in terms of comfort. In order of preference my favorites are: OluKai Ohana, Skecher Toneups, Orthoheel Tide or Wave, Montrail Molokini, and Fit Flops.

Prior to getting plantar fasciitis a few years ago I swore by the old style Teva Mush (they changed them this past year and they are not near as comfortable), Teva Ulani, Reef, Nike Celso, Sanuck Yoga Mats, and Chacos. I used to wear the Croc clogs to work everyday and then the Croc Athens flip flops everywhere else, but my doctor swears it was the Crocs that caused my plantar fasciitis, so I no longer wear them.

Earlier this summer I got a pair of Yellow Box Biology and a pair of Volatile Keralee that I'm loving. The Volatile Keralee are especially comfortable wearing all day. In fact, I think I may like them better than my beloved OluKai Ohana's.

Personally I hate flip flops for anything more than a run to the store or the beach. I couldn't imagine wearing them all day at the parks with my feet getting dirty. After a few hours in flip flops my feet start to hurt so I'm a full supporter of sneakers. But you know your feet best. If you can wear them all day long with no problems then go for it, maybe bring some sneakers with you just in case though.

Past couple of trips I have lived in my Teva Mush and can honestly say....tho I had funky tan lines.....I had happy feet.

There is no way I could go to WDW in Sept. and wear socks and sneakers all day. My hot flashes are bad enough without having sweaty feet too!

Also....even wearing my New Balance and wicking socks....I got blisters because of the excessive heat and humidity.:scared1:

I have retired my Mickey Crocs, after I wore them in the rain, and my feet sloshed and slid so much I ended up with blisters also.

I also wore my Nike flip flops during my 10 day trip and my feet were fine. I love Nike flip flops. its like walking on clouds. So cushiony on the bottom. Its the greatest flip flop! :) I have more feet problems when I wear runners. Go figure.

A lot of people wear them and get along just fine, but do remember, you will be getting into very crowded spots, shoulder to shoulder, with either entering or leaving shows, Rides, long lines, etc. and you just may have someone step on your toes, ouch, which isn't pleasant, also you need to think about how many people have stepped and walked already, carrying who knows what on their almost bare feet, while wearing only flip flops, right where you are stepping with just a flip flop on and your bare toes and most of your foot bare, you just might, possibly, pick something up. Something to think about.
If you don't have any problem with catching something you never heard of before, or having gooey stuff splashed on your feet, than go ahead and wear them.:lmao:

I wear thong type all summer (spring too) and have no issues really...well a bit sore sometimes but those 10+ hour days are long on my feet :rotfl:
If you were a NON wearer and trying it Id say, noway, but as an avid wearer, go for it.
Personally I find ANY closed sneaker/shoe SO HOT and besides I easily leave my flops behind while I "drift above the orange groves" at Soar'n :cloud9: Awesome!!!
Have a great trip!

seriously in all the years I have worn mine, I have NEVER ever had anything except ............that Florida Rain in summer, on my toes...
Personally I carry a wash cloth/ziploc in my bag and dry em off after getting wet, nothing worse than wet/soggy feet :rotfl:

Like I said, (A lot of people wear them and get along just fine), and I'm happy to hear, your an exception and that you will carry something to whip your feet with and keep them clean, that's great, good for you.
But how many people do not, just saying, there are things laying on the walks, and in the carpets inside the buildings, and in the ride cars, etc. etc. you cannot see, feel or smell, it's something to keep in mind. Have you ever wondered why Disney installed the hand sanitizer stations?
Next time your there, watch at where you place your hands, than touch your own face or eyes. Same applies to your feet.
:woohoo:

I wore my Crocs flip flops for one of my trips and had no problems. Also, Lands End make a great shoe that I wore on my last trip and now swear my them for all future trips, the Oxford Water Shoe.

No need to wear socks, they are quick dry in case to get wet on water rides. Very comfortable.

Enjoy your trip.
