I currently have reservations for BC in July - but darn that Samantha Brown- she made me homesick for AKL yesterday on Great Hotels. We love the AKL and are staying at VWL before BC because we really enjoy the informal lodge feel. Is BC too fancy for me?

We like BC. The thing is, if you don't try different things, you will never know.

I don't think you'll miss AKL to much. BC has a very nice location and I think you will really enjoy it. You can always take a little trip over to AKL to get a fix. :teeth:

BC is great. The location is wonderful and the pool is awesome...But it's no AKL in any way shape or form (and I think you know that ;)).

To those who love animals and the African feel, no other Resort on property even comes close. I love many of the Resorts, for different reasons, but AKL is the only one I never mind skipping Park time to stay at.

Well, I haven't stayed at AKL....yet ( 76 more days to go & that will be a different story, lol)

But, the Beach Club is my all time Favorite WDW Resort. I am NOT a fancy person at all - WDW touring attire for me is a pair of cut-off levi's & a tank. I felt perfectly comfortable at BC -
The CMs there were great, the location is fantastic, the ambience relaxing, light & airy, the Pool!!!, Beaches & Cream at your fingertips, gorgeous rooms & if you are lucky, a wonderful patio or balcony to enjoy a quiet morning cup. Strolling along Crescent Lake in the early AM to Boardwalk Bakery for a delicious pastry..... Heaven, really. We were lucky enough to have a patio from which we could hear British Invasion & see Illuminations fireworks.

I'm betting that both are Magical in their own ways & if you aren't too bound in loyalty to AKL, you will have an equally Magical stay at BC - Different, but still Magical.

Leota- where is this area you stayed at? The British Invasion might sinch it for me- even better than giraffes  Thanks for the cut off-tank top encouragement. Sounds like me.

Janet2k- I'm going to push that link right now.

I know how you feel and I can feel your pain. We recently split our trip between the Dolphin & the AKL. I love love love the location of the Dolphin but when I arrived at the AKL I just felt so relaxed. I love the smell of the lodge, the animals, the fire pit at night, story telling, talking to CM's about their homeland, etc. etc. If we can get a super good rate at the Swan or Dolphin that is where we will be staying because of LOCATION but I will still miss the AKL and visiting for a few hours just isn't the same. :sad1: After I stayed at ALK, I was hooked.

To tell you the truth, I really missed AKL while I was staying at BC

I pined for it :guilty:

I'll have to dig into my WDW memory box & see if I can come up with the room number for you. It was a bit of a walk to the lobby, but very convienent for Epcot. We thought it was a perfect location. Once I finish my tour of all the WDW resorts, I will be landing back at the BC.....

I watched the travel channel specials this week on the BC (never stayed there) and the AKL (been there once). The show on the BC confirmed my feeling that I probably would not enjoy that resort as much as others. Something about it seems too stuffy (and the Yacht club even more so - ugh!). I'm not into the New England beach scene thing I guess. I loved the POFQ though - didn't seem stuffy like that at all - much more festive.

On the other hand perhaps a split stay to find out? I'd be willing to try it for a few days.

YES! I've been pining for it the past few trips! I do love splitting between the EPCOT area and AKL, though, as we did last July.

When you fall in love with a resort, it is hard not to miss it when you stay elsewhere. I am that way about Boardwalk. But we still like to try out the other resorts to see what they are like too.

That said the BC is a beautiful resort and has a lot to offer (being so close to mgm and Epcot is huge for us). Have fun!

Okay Janet - you're just twisted! :rotfl2: I mean that in the best possible way.

Hi Cass!

I will definitely go to Boma for dinner, maybe that will satisfy me. Leota - yes please let me know if you come up with the room #.

Agreed. ;)

I will allow you to CLICK ON THIS LINK.

And since I'm feeling especially nice today, I'm going to allow you to CLICK ON THIS LINK, too. ;)

Have a wonderful vacation. And remember, you can always stay at a different resort on a future vacation. I know that I enjoy trying new ones and mixing 'em up with old ones on most of my vacations (I resort-hop all the time).
