ASMO? Well it wasn't that I didn't like the resort, it's more that I didn't like the location. I was actually impressed with the resort, I think it is a great deal for the price. We have only been to WDW 3 times and we always stay at the Polynesian. I love it:) I love how it is right there on the monorail and there seems to be action all of the time. I felt so isolated at ASMO. I'm thinking that POR would be different:confused: I like the fact that you will be able to take the boat to DD. I also like how you can use the pool at POFQ.

I can't really predict whether you will like POR if you are accustomed to the Poly. It's hard to beat the Poly for convenience and atmosphere, but remember that you would be paying quite a bit less to stay at POR.

I can say that, for our family, even though we could probably afford to stay at deluxes for our trips, we find POFQ and POR to be a better value for us; we don't spend that much time at the resort itself, and the wonderful amenities at PO, as well as the great pools seem to put them several steps ahead of the AllStars.

The proximity to DD and the boat transportation there is a major plus for us. We enjoy going to PI once in a while, and we always make the trip to DD a couple of times to eat and shop, as well as to do DQ. The boat ride is beautiful and relaxing at the end of a long day in the parks, and the DD area always seem much more "happening" than any of the resorts we've stayed at (we're night owls, and even the BW goes to bed much too early for us!)

I've seen plenty of postings from people who just can't seem to enjoy a less-expensive resort after staying in a Deluxe, and I guess I can understand their points of view. I guess it just depends on what your expectations are. I think POR and POFQ are beautiful; they are our favorite resorts to stay at, and I think you'll enjoy them too!

POR is much closer to the MK, Epcot and the Studios than AS. So that may help. I think if you love the Polyn, you will like the POR - they are similar in many ways - both have many of the original staff and the CM are wonderful. the arcade is wonderful for kids, so are the swimming pools - the quiet pool is great for adults. the food court is one of the best on property. so is the gift shop (my opinion).

The only things I don't like about the moderates as opposed to the Deluxe resorts is the in room A/C that sounds like a truck in the room with you. The turbo toilet and shower seranades and the lack of a balcony. The themeing and the food courts, the landscaping and the overall pool areas are all very nice. I liked the moderates better when my children were younger. Now they are as big as I am and 4 adults in one small room is just uncomfortable. If I am going to spend over $200 a night I will opt for the Poly anyday.

check out the photos of the POR we toured it last time,
by walking around the whole resort, it is great lots of trees
and beautiful landscaping
it has the ASMO beat hands down
Plus you can use the boat to downtown disney and also
the pool at the french quarter which has a dragon slide!!

even the poly didnt have the woodys feel of the POR
we have stayed at the poly and I thought the POR had more
character.

good luck :)

There is a great deal of difference between the moderate resorts and the value resorts.

Personally, I have stayed at both moderates and deluxes, and if you aren't there to really enjoy all of the amenities of the deluxe, then a moderate is great! The rooms are bigger than the value resorts...there are 2 sinks in the room, and the theming is SO much better!

PO-R is probably the most beautiful of the moderates, and is centrally located, with the longest bus trip being AK...all others are about 15 minutes, at the most.

Also, there is a great riverboat that will take you to DTD in the evenings... which is really a nice deal!

There is a sitdown restaurant, as well, which the value resorts don't have.

I think you will be pleased...but you won't know, unless you try!
