DVC Digital Member Card - How To Download Only, not comments about it

I have an IPhone, but have never used Apple Wallet. I print out a temporary card before we go, good for 1 month from time of printing, and have never had an issue using it for DVC discounts.
Curious how this would work at Disneyland since it does not print the QR code.

Everytime I print one it just shows the suitcase, name, start year, membership #, DVC-Y and then the 30 days from when you printed it for expiration.

My husband (who consequently works in IT as do I so not a technophobe at all) also didn't want to have his own MDE account, but too often we were not together when he tried to pay for stuff and the Disney cast members starting rejecting him using the electronic card with MY name instead of his name. So last week we finally got everything "fixed" with some tech support from Disney and he now has his own DVC card in his Google wallet (we are not Apple people either) so he can use it next trip.

Hopefully this also fixes the issue he has had the last few trips where his new MDE login wouldn't recognize that he was on our DVC reservation.

SIGH...Disney IT is just not good.
This is the case with my husband also. Did you contact tech support online or speak to someone in the park to set up your husband’s card?

None of this should matter anymore, your membership status is now verifiable by touchpoints. Just tap a MagicBand or room key to their iPad and a big green checkmark pops up for them, confirming your eligibility.

That would only be if they had an MDE account with their name tied to the magicband or room key. You can certainly get a room key without a MDE but that isn't going to show DVC-Y without linking the reservation to the MDE unless things have changed.

Except they have not yet figured out how to make it automatically apply to those eligible and those who are not…which is why the mobile checkout discount works for resale owners.

I agree that it seems as though they should be able to code something…and the QR code should be something that seems like it would but I guess not all systems talk to it so that it pulls the right info?

Interesting because they can definitely do it (in a general sense) but maybe the distinction hasn't made it's way into the merch system yet.

For example, this summer they were doing an event where DVC-Y members could go to Saratoga Springs or a few other spots and get free ice cream bars, and all you had to do was tap. It was very seamless.

I definitely think when it’s a DVC event they have it figured out..same with Moonlight Magic.

Hopefully they will be able to figure it out someday to streamline it!

As for the merch discount, the POS system is only connected to the hotel system to allow room charging. The POS has no access to your MDE profile to know what discount you might be eligible for.

Most devices that can determine eligibility are handheld devices which have custom software loaded that has access to the necessary information.
