Will I hurl on Mission Space?

Unfortunately, just because I rode Mission Space without problems, there's no guarantee you will have the same results. The only advice I can give is try it and see, perhaps at the end of the day so you can go back to the hotel and sleep it off if it doesn't work out. Good luck!

Many thanks for all the information and advice.

I hadn't thought of using travel sickness pills. I think that I will take some and try the ride at the end of the day.

Now, to persuade my wife to ride....

Thank you everybody!

The second that I pulled the harness down, I started panicking, and I wanted off right away.

:( I'm so afraid this is what's going to happen to me if I ride, feeling trapped. The spinning I can handle. I wish I could learn a relaxation technique or something to help me not panic with claustrophobia. I really want to go on M:S! :(

I have to agree! I am prone to motion sickness and avoid Body Wars at all costs. I can endure Star Tours on a "good day", but usually choose NOT to ride if I can avoid it ;)

I was absolutely paranoid about riding Mission Space! I waited in line for about 20 minutes and was sick to my stomach the whole time. My relentless husband "forced" me to ride. A VERY nice CM named Kat actually rode with me to make me feel better :) Upon entering the ride, I noticed they provide "sickness" bags which did NOT make me feel any better. As they closed the doors, I thought my heart would pound right out of my chest. I stared straight ahead at the screen and didn't even blink. I kept telling myself, don't look away, don't turn your head, don't blink, just look at the screen, LOL.

After the ride was over, I didn't feel the least bit sick! I got more sick thinking about getting sick, LOL. Kat gave my DH and I another pass so we could ride again immediately. The 2nd time, I really enjoyed the ride since I wasn't afraid this time!!!

where are the barf bags? I didn't see any.

they are hanging at each seat to the right on the console. They even point them out for you.

You cannot tell you are spinning at all, if you do as they instruct.
You will feel the effects of the "G forces" on your body, feels like pressure.
I would not, for one minute, ignore the warnings (there are many repeated over and over) and I would do exactly what they say.
I had my doubts about this ride, but, I tried it and loved it.

I think if I got into a pod that smelled like vomit, I would immediately feel sick, with or without spinning. Do they do something to avoid this?

I normally don't have problems with any rides -- I love roller coasters and the spinning teacups only make me a little dizzy, but not in a sicky-way.

However.. Mission: Space was one of the most awful experiences I've ever had at a theme park. I kept my eyes straight ahead, just as instructed, but the G-forces on my body were too much for me to take. I was sick to my stomach immediately, and spent the entire ride praying I wouldn't embarrass myself in front of everyone.

After the ride was over, my DH knew just by looking at me that I wasn't a happy camper and we made a beeline for the fresh air. I had to sit on the pavement for about 20 minutes before I felt like I could walk again, I was so disoriented. And for the rest of the day, my entire body felt out of sorts.

DH loved M:S and I'm sure he'll ride it again in the future.. just without me.

My wife and I rode this, she gets carsick from time to time, no vomiting since we've been together, but the ride did make her feel ill. I on the other hand rode it twice with no problems. I would try it, but do it as the last ride of the day so you can go back to your room and rest. The last time I rode it on our last trip I had less than a 5 minute wait, and I was alone in my ship, this around about 30 minutes or so from close.

darrrren pirate:

I also get sick going around, sometimes even on the carrousel! I took Bonine the night before riding mission space (just a couple of days ago, actually) and did not get sick. I did not feel like I was spinning at all. I did feel kind of funny, not sick, but not "right" either. I doubt I will ever ride it again, but I am definitely glad I did it once. It's pretty cool. DH did not like it. He isn't prone to motion sickness, but said he didn't feel well after riding MS. I would try it once at least. (Consider the Bonine, it's been working for me...I even rode Primeval Whirl with no problems!)

do they still put the puke bags on the ride? i read that it was something they were trying out. i hope that they still have them when i go 1st week in march. i think it would just make me feel better if i don'thave to worry about puking on a stranger or getting int on my clothes. i hope i don't chicken out.

Yes, they still have the "air sick" bags.
