Will I Have Any Luck With My Wait List?

Hello! I recently (about 5 days ago) booked a 2 Bedroom Lock-Off (Standard View) Villa at Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas by renting points. I wanted a dedicated villa; however, only a lock-off was available. The DVC member that rented me the points told me that all she could do was to Wait List a dedicated villa. Will I have any luck?

BTW My travel dates are December 14-19, 2014. At the time of booking, the DVC member told me the only night without a dedicated villa available was December 14. In other words, only a dedicated villa was available December 15-19, 2014. Because of this, she had to book me a lock-off for the WHOLE 5 days and Wait List the whole stay.

We've been very successful with our wait lists at Beach club & BWV. In fact our 5 days at BWV 2 weeks ago came through via the wait list process. We also had a wait list come through for Beach club 2nd week of October (after our Disney cruise) for the Food & Wine festival. But no experience with AKV.
However we always assume our wait list requests won't come through so we avoid potential disappointment. But like I said we've been extremely lucky with our DVC & DCL wait list requests over the years.

Good Luck....

Hmmmm I've been successful with my waitlisted too.. But I have only had experience with 1 night waitlists. Meaning I would book the other available nights in the room category I wanted and waitlist the one missing night. Came thru for me twice.i was missing one night on 2 separate booking occasions(one this August and one in November) August I was missing one night in the middle of my vaca at bay lake tower one bedroom lake view. And in nov I was missing the first night(thanksgiving) in the beginning of my vaca. I don't know but if I were u and I really wanted that dedicated 2 bedroom AND only one night was missing I would probably book the available nights and wailist the one missing night. In the meantime make sure you have something booked for that night in case it doesn't come thru. Its a little risky but you do have some time. Btw i find the pull out to be comfortable if thats your concern.I booked my August trip the end of may and the waitlist came thru already. But dec is a more popular Dvc time. If you decide to waitlist the one night do it asap so you increase your chances.Good luck!!

December is a very busy time and the more nights you have, the harder it will be to get a wait list filled.

But, the fact that right now, some of the nights are open still, if the night of the 14th becomes available soon, before someone books those other nights, you may have a shot of the entire thing filling.

Good luck!

I have to try the waitlist someday. We have been fairly content to stay where there is availability. Our home is SSR, but since SSR usually has something, we have been waiting for the 7 month window to book.

Early on in our DVC membership, we had good luck (2006 - BWV, various OKW & AKV stays), but lately there has not been a full week available. We are looking to try some of the other DVC resorts, and this trip we could have booked VWL (now with the pool closed during our visit, I am happy we did not), but there were 2 days we had to fill (not together). I want to relax during my vacation, so I am not sure about moving during our stay.

I've had good luck with difficult categories -- value rooms at AKV, and OKW during the TOT Run Disney event! Here's :tink: for you. In any event a lock off isn't dreadful. Any DVC property is nicer than a hotel room.:goodvibes

It's difficult to say how successful a wait list will be that close to Christmas. One thing to keep in mind with wait lists is that it's an all-or-nothing proposition. The fact that you were only missing one night when the member initially tried to book really doesn't have any bearing on your wait list at this point. The system didn't put any type of hold on those nights that were initially available. They remained available to other members to book. So it's possible at this point that you're waiting for more than just one night to come through. A wait list only matches if every night of your request becomes available at the same time.
