Will I get hassled?

I am going on the Jan 10 eastern with wife, 5, and 2 year old. I would like to go to a nice beach that can be accessed conveniently (Trunk bay would be nice but I don't want to get into multiple cab and ferry rides). I was thinking of orient beach on St Martin (I am aware that parts are clothing optional) and Megan's bay on St Thomas. Can anybody tell me how likely it would be for our family to be approached for T shirts, hair braiding, or timeshare presentations while we are trying to relax on the beach?

Thanks,

RW

On our Eastern cruise in May we rented a car and went to Orient Bay. The beach and surrounding area are really beautiful with lots of space and great views to enjoy.

We were probably on the beach for a good three hours and were never once approached by anyone attempting to sell us anything. I didn't see any of this going on the entire time we were there.

And, as far as nudity, there really isn't much of that at all. Some of the locals went natural but I think most of the people on the beach were tourists and they wore swimwear.

We did Orient Beach last year with excursion thru the ship. We had a wonderful time and enjoyed the beach here more than the Beach at St. Thomas. We were told we were at the family end of orient beach. We were not bothered at all by people trying to sell things. I would probably do this outing on our own next time around. We did see 1 nude man and 1 nude woman. We were worried about our 6 y/o DS at the time but he didn't even notice when no one made a big deal of it. We really enjoyed this beach. We have not tried the others but I hear good things as well from them.

We just went to Orient Beach on the 10/18-25 cruise. I think we were there for about 3 hours and were approached about 20 times(I'm not exaggerating) by different people selling things such as bags, hats, jewelry, braids, ect. The nice thing was a simple "no thanks" was all it really took before they moved on.

We went to Orient Beach in 2002 and were only approached by 1 person selling baskets. Went to Megans bay this year and there was no one selling anything on the beach. However do not go to the beach in St. Martin, using the water taxi across from the ship. There were people bugging you every 5 minutes. Went in the water to avoid one and she was still there when I got out waiting.

How do you know about my son? My wife figures we will save money on babysitting by Disney putting him in the brig rather than Flounder's reef.

In December 2001 (Christmas Day to be exact) we were on Orient Bay beach -- probably not the 'family end'. We were hassled by 2 women at various times throughout the day for hair braiding and one man one time trying to sell my husband weed/pot.

Didn't see too much nudity, either.

As soon as I step off the ship in St Martin people want to braid my hair. I think probably about 5 people before I made it to the main street, some were even poking their heads in the ferry taxi trying to get you before you stepped foot on the island! I feel confident saying you will be hassled...
