Will I be out of place wearing a pin lanyard? I love collecting Disney pins and I remember back several years ago it felt like everyone was wearing them! Is that still a thing?

I was there all last week and actually saw more folks wearing lanyards with pins than I have seen in the past five years. I also saw a few CMs with a lanyard. Instead of a lanyard, I used a Kavu sling bag which has a sort of tail strap hanging down in front and I was able to line up about eight pins. Enjoy your time!

This is so good to hear!!! Thank you so much!!!! :)

Definitely! We always wear ours, and interact with many others, admiring pins and even traded on the bus one morning! DD also trades with CMs. Now it seems like not as many CMs has them last yr. when we visited, but still found ones to trade with, and also learned a few yrs.ago about the hotel pin boards, so try to check them out when we are at different resorts for meals and touring.

Yes, actually some of our unexpected "magic moments" at WDW have been with DD for pin trading, like one of her first times trading with a CM on her own(around age 6), and he had a special Cinderella anniversary pin she wanted, and thought carefully about giving up a 3 princess pin she loved, and decided to do it. She came back to show us and the CM came over and told her she could keep her pin as well, as he had noticed her debating over it - really sweet! Enjoy wearing yours and all the Disney magic!:earsboy:

You will not be out of place but it's not as prominent anymore. Most cast members now carry a pin book/binder they open if approached but some of them where it fits the uniform do wear it. Guests are all over the spectrum if they have them on or not..

One day I saw the coolest thing and maybe you have enough for this idea. there was a young woman who obviously collected about every pin she could afford. She had a dress that was covered with pins all around. not 1 spot was missing a pin..

That was so nice! I love hearing stuff like that. :D

I don't think you will be out of place wearing one. There are still a lot of people who wear them, but I do think I have seen less people wearing them at WDW since they went to the magic bands for park entry and FP. A lot of people (myself included) used to wear them as a way to keep the ticket handy for getting FPs from kiosks and for storing unused FP tickets. Now that there's no need for that, I don't wear mine. But that's as much because I don't like the weight of it around my neck as anything. Now I just put a few of my favorite pins on my sling bag that I wear around the parks and keep the ones I have available for trading in the bag. I've been to both DLR and WDW this year and I saw a lot more pin lanyards being worn at Disney, but they still use the old FP system, so the lanyard makes it easy to keep the ticket handy and store the FP tickets.

Although I voted "yes" on this one, you really won't be "out of place". Pin trading and people wearing lanyards are down significantly from what it was years ago. However, there are still fans and you'll see others wearing lanyards.

Nothing is out of place at Disney!

Well, you know what I mean!! It's where grown men wear GRUMPY tee shirts with Mickey ears and Ladies get out the age ole- fanny pack but who CARES!!. It's time to be a kid and enjoy the happiest place on earth!
