Will going to Epcot in the afternoon be a bad idea?

We were going to go to Epcot at rope drop, but decided to have breakfast at Topolinas. We do not want to get a super early breakfast, but around 9:00 or 10:00. If we are able to get a reservation.
We are hoping for a relaxing morning with breakfast and not rushed.
How bad will lines be going into Epcot in the afternoon?
Should we go right before 2:00 before park hoppers come and go? Then again this will be in August and it’s going to super hot in the afternoon. Maybe arrive after 4:00? I’m so undecided.
Give me your opinions 😁

We were at Epcot before covid and didn't realize the back part (World Showcase) opens 1-2 hr after the front part of the park. Getting there really early wouldn't accomplish much since none of the shops/stores around the lake had yet opened. We had a FastPass for some ride, don't recall which one, so that is why we were there at that time. We never do rope drop as I can envision large masses of people racing to be the first in line at various rides. Our idea of a vacation is to get up when we want, have breakfast and then head out to the parks. Haven't been there lately, but might check the Disney website to see what hours the various parts of Epcot are open.

The most popular rides tend to have the longest lines, so not sure there is really anything you can do about that. Matching supply with demand will probably remain a challenge for Disney until the covid situation is totally behind us. Honestly, no one knows when that will be.

This was true before Covid but currently all of Epcot (WS and future world) opens at the same time.

If you're planning, say a 10a breakfast and figure breakfast for around and hour with the Skyliner I'd expect you'd be at the IG around 1130a or so. For me, that would be perfect. You'd miss the 11a opening crush. At 2p, I think you'd have a longer line with the park hoppers.

Ok yes that should work. Rope drop lines get high quick and then slack off a bit.
