Will Disney consider dietary issues?

I believe I saw this either here or in a guide book, but will WDW give special consideration to someone with major dietary restrictions. My aunt just had gastric bypass surgery and as a result eats VERY VERY small portions for her meals. I made a PS for the character dinner at the Liberty Tree Tavern and I'd really hate it if my aunt had to pay for a meal when all she will really have is a few bites, if anything at all.

Do you guys think they would give special consideration to this?

There is a debate about this very subject on the Debate Board.

At this point,WDW policy will not give a discount for this condition, because you are paying to meet the characters. It is up to your Aunt to decide if the price is worth it because of how little food she can eat.

I believe all of the character meals will allow a family member to sit with a family who is eating and just pay a $5 entertainment fee without eating. Maybe your aunt could grab something small at a counter service place, then skip the food at Liberty Tree and just enjoy the atmosphere and your company?

We did this with our family in December 1998. They treated us to a surprise breakfast in bed at 10 a.m. the day after our wedding -- I think they wanted to make sure we got up! But when we met up with everyone at noon at Crystal Palace we weren't even remotely hungry. We sat with them while they ate and got to enjoy the characters and take pictures for about $10. It was great!

I hope this helps!

The previous posters are right - you can have your aunt just sit with you for a $5 fee and not eat.

Now - if you are going someplace other than a character meal you should have no problem getting any special requests.

We had planned to do the Hoop-De-Doo back in May and both my DH and I needed to do non-fried, low greasy, type foods - it was no problem for them to accomodate us.

She'll have the best luck ordering from a kids menu as much as possible :)

Ok I spoke to WDW guest communications regarding this and they will let you order something alacarte even at the buffets if you have had GBS! ANd if you want more than one item then you will be charged the childs price for the buffet. (heck we will eat less than a child!) (I asked them for this in writing so I can take it to WDW with me in dec) I should have it this week in the mail.

The amount that can be eaten is equal to that of a motts applesauce cup! That's not a lot of food!

Thanks for the info. My aunt will only be with us for one day of our vacation (she lives in FL) so this will only be an issue that day and really only that meal.
