I am having a bit of a crisis! I have reservations and have to pay the remainder by Feb 22nd. BUT I am one of the MANY who pay for their trips via Tax Refunds. Now, as we all know, said refunds are being held up, and I may not have mine until Feb 25th at earliest! Anyone know if there is any sort of leeway on the date, or will they automatically cancel my reservation on the 23rd?!?

i am not sure but i would call them and let them know. if you explain what is going on they may be willing to work with you.

I had to push my pay off date back once, I called and they put a note in my ressie that was to be paid by the 30 day mark, so they can extend you if need be.

I had to deal with this as my husband's bonus came later than expected and we wanted CC points and the CC held the money, etc. So, we paid about 28 days out. The CM said the biggest thing that would keep them from canceling was that I had made payments other than the $200 deposit so that showed them I was serious about going. So, it Wouldn't cancel.

Good luck!

I agree wi th pp's, it is essential that you call them. My last trip payment was due while Iwas overseas, and the debit card required 2 separate days to run, so I called and was able to get an extension. But they can't know your circumstances if you don't tell them.:goodvibes

I confused. Why don't you pay it off with a credit card, and then pay off your credit card when you get the money. I don't understand why people use the FED as a savings account. You could have less taken out of your paycheck and put it in your own disney savings account. Then the money will be available to you whenever you wan't to go to disney.

Not everyone has a credit card with enough of a balance to pay off a trip :) We actually have canceled and reduced our credit cards significantly over the last couple years and our credit score is now pretty high because we manage our credit better. This trip I refuse to place the bill on a credit card, if you miss that 30 day mark by 1 day then you get hit with interest. I save ours for the rental car, and extra expenses that we can then pay off at the end of the month.

On the Fed thing, it is not that easy to take less out of your check. I actually have more taken out on State or I have gotten into the situation of having to pay them several hundered at tax time. I would rather get a refund than have to pay :) I think it is easier said then done on the savings too. In my case this year I would have put aside $300 a paycheck into an account all year and earned my own interest. But I just know DH or I would have some reason why we just need to tap into that account..... oh well maybe next time

Many people don't have a credit card. I only have my Disney Visa, and it doesn't have a high limit so I will need to make 3 payments to pay off my trip in full. Even if I used my debit card I'd need to make 2 payments because the balance due exceeds the $2500 limit my bank imposes.

I guess everybody does things differently. It is actually pretty easy to have less taken out of you check. Its just a quick trip to human resources. You do have to have discipline and self control not to spend your savings though. I always wan't to go on vacation enough that I never touch it. I just don't like waiting for the government to give me back my money. I usually owe a thousand or more at the the year, and I wait to the very last minute to give it them. I hope you get things worked out so you can take your trip.

Some people are getting credits that never came out of their check in the first place, too.

I think this thread took a wrong turn.
Credit cards are great idea if you pay it off-but some people don't trust themselves to do, have had bad experiences with credit in the past, or don't have the limit.
Disney vacation savings account-fantastic idea if you can afford to pull it from your check-some cannot.
Tax refunds, for some, are a great deal of money. And not always because they use them as "savings", you deduct many things-property taxes, $ for kids, work expenses, etc. Some of these had to be paid throughout the year.

In response to the question- i think you should call and ask for an extension.
Hope it works out!

I recall reading another thread during Christmas time with the same issue and the advice others gave was to call Disney as they are very understanding and will work with you...:upsidedow

Im pretty sure they give you a 10 day grace period after missing the cut off date. But it couldn't hurt to call and tell them though.

Maybe she doesn't have CC's.

Maybe she LIKES to get a lump sum refund.

Maybe she LIKES that it is forced savings.

Why do YOU or anyone else care if SHE gets a refund? :confused3

Ok, sorry for starting such a heated topic. First off, I DID call Disney, and the women (I use the term loosely) pretty much said if I don't pay by the 45 days, I'm screwed. She said, and I quote, "It pretty much is written in stone". But, I remember somewhere on here (and couldn't find it-thus starting the new thread) where I read others have had issues paying by the due date, and what they did. As for credit cards, I have several, thank you, but don't want to pay the interest on a large purchase. As for changing my withholdings, did that too, and it screwed me and I had to PAY! Fixed it back, and have used my refund as a guaranteed way of taking my family to Disney.
So, that being said, I thank everyone who has left me positive information, and I think I will call back tomorrow, and once again explain my situation in hopes I get someone with a bit more compassion. And again, thanks to all who deserve it.

I had to call last year and ask for a 7 day extension. They gave me no problem, try again tomorrow and maybe you will get a more understanding CM. Have a wonderful time!

Sorry you had a less than understanding CM. Hopefully you get someone a bit more understanding tomorrow. If you don't you can always ask for guest services and they may be more helpful.

I don't care. I was merely offering a suggestion so she does not have to wait on a tax refund to pay for a trip.
