Will Disney Canx Me?!?

I had the same situation last year. They said because I have paid over 50% I would not loss my reservation they did extend it by 10 days. They also sent me an email letter advising if I dont pay by such and such a date that they will cancel the reservation but again I did call them and spoke to them.

It's not exactly the same, but I was mailing in a payment UNDER the 45 day mark ( I called to upgrade) so it was supposed to be paid automatically. They told me they'd note the reservation that the payment was on it's way (it was) so it didn't get cancelled. This tells me that they do have the ability to make a note and hold off a cancellation if they want to.

One thing you might be able to do is take off all the extras --- dining plan, park hoppers, etc..., that will reduce the balance you have to pay by the 45 day mark. Then when you have the money, add it back. I think you can add the dining plan up to 3 days before arrival (confirm though please). Park hoppers you can add anytime. I did that with the dining plan and then just added it about a week before arrival and paid for it at that time.

Just a note:
You can take measures to not get a huge refund. If you fill out the W-4 per the instructions, it will account for many credits. Then just add a few exemptions to account for mortgage interest or other large deductions that you know you will have on your Schedule A. We have had years with thousands in interest deductions, adoption tax credit, child tax credit, etc and because we jack up our payroll exemptions (and get a much higher paycheck), we never get a huge refund or pay a large amount. It just takes some planning. I have 5 kids and I think I set my exemptions to 17 in order to not give the govt a nice interest free loan with my money.

Back on topic - good luck with getting an extension - hope it all works out and you have an awesome trip.

I really hope you get an extension. If I were you, if the CM says no, I would politely ask to speak with a manager. I can't believe WDW wants to lose reservations when you are clearly trying everything to pay. Darn Gov't!!

Call again!! I never had any problems with the CMs I talked with and I paid under the 30-day mark! Just explain your situation and give them a date you think you can pay by and make as many payments as you can. I did have just the room and tickets on mine and added the dining plan later.

Hopefully your next CM is understanding!

And don't worry about PP, you have to do what you have to do! We all deal with things differently in life!

Good luck!

I had the same situation in 2007 with a less than understanding CM. I called until I spoke to someone who would do something. The CM I spoke to couldn't believe that the last CM had not made an extension.

Like with planning or questions, etc...it's all in who you talk to unfortunately.

OP: I hope it works out! Definitely keep calling unti you get a cm that has either the knowledge or the gumption to get this done for you, it can be done.

And for the record, my husband and I did our taxes such that we got refunds every year for many years. It may not have been the smartest way to save, but frankly any way that you manage your money/taxes that allows you to pay cash for your vacations is not a bad thing at all! So to me, you are being pretty darn smart with your money.

Hope you come back soon to let us know how it went!:goodvibes

They won't cancel your reservation until you are 30 days out. For some reason, my final payment (sent on day 45) was delayed and I got an email telling me that my payment was late. In the email, it said that my reservation would be canceled if I still hadn't paid when I was 30 days out. This was in November.

Wording from email:

THIS RESERVATION WILL AUTOMATICALLY CANCEL AT 30 DAYS PRIOR TO THE DEPARTURE DATE SHOWN ABOVE.

Thank you all for your kind words of concern. After getting myself so worked up over all this the last time, I decided to save myself any possible additional aggravation, and wait until the last minute to call, and beg, and plead, to a hopefully more understanding person on the other end of the phone. But before I could reach for the phone, something said, "Use The Force"...call the bank and just for giggles, see if the refund hit the bank. And Low and Behold, to my complete astonishment, "IT" was there!!! So long and anticlimactic story, I don't have to call and beg for an extension, I'm just going to pay the recent "bane of my existence" off! And HEY-I'm Going To Disney World!!!:cool1::cheer2::dance3::woohoo:

I am so happy it all worked out! I would have been a nervous wreck too. Now you can just relax and let the next few weeks fly by until your trip.

Thanks for coming back to update us!

That's great that it all worked out! And just for kicks I went to check my bank account to seeing if maybe our refund was magically deposited as well. No fed but the state was there! :cool1: Time to pay the car insurance!

Glad it all worked out. I am sure they would have given you the extension.

As far as the taxes, what people choose to do is exactly that-thier choice! I make mroe than 3 times my husband. His taxes are taken out for a WAY less tax bracket. I always have to account for that. I can go from getting back thousands of $ with my W-2 to owing thousands with his...until deductions.
