We purchased our tickets and since then the fare has gone down about $50pp. Will they refund the difference??

It depends on the rules for the fare you originally booked. Depending on the fare, you may have to pay a fee for any changes, including application of a fare reduction. Typically, for heavily-discounted fares, that would nullify any benefit you would gain from such a small reduction in your fare.

On the other hand, if you purchased full-fare coach class (Y fares), then the airline will apply the fare reduction for you without a fee.

I belive they consider it a change in the itinerary. I believe the price to change costs $25. So they will cancel your tixs and then reissue them. For $50 less per person its worth it. You will get $25 backk pp I believe. A couple of yrs ago they would issue credits for the difference of the airfare that you could use for a future flight.

I called Delta last week and was told this by the person on the phone:
We will issue you a credit. I didn't go into anymore detail than that because she also said it has to be the exact same reservations as before - in other words, if you were leaving at 8:30 am you must still be leaving at 8:30 am. Basically, you have to have the same exact flight and Delta is pretty good at finding their way around that one.

I had found fares that were $50 cheaper each but then realized that they were leaving at a different time than my originals - soooo, no discount available.
