We have a Stitch breakfast booked which I know will be charged as an adult as she is 10. Is this the same for the evening meal? She def won't eat the adult meats and sides, do they do a children's menu? Will she be able to eat from the children's menu if she is 10?

Thanks

She can order from the children's menu if she wants...but if you are on the dining plan they would have already charged you for the adult dining plan...

Okay first, yes at 10 she is charged an adult meal. This is the breakfast menu which is family style, so no childs menu...

Our Island Feast is served "Family-Style" which means we bring it to you,
so sit back and relax. E oli oli!

Breakfast 7:30 - 11:00 a.m.
Adults $20.99 Children 3-9 $11.99 Under 3 Free

Hua Paka (Scrambled Eggs) - made fresh, hot & delicious

Pua'a (Pork) - pork breakfast sausage links & smoked bacon

Assorted Warm Breakfast Breads

Same for dinner and any other buffets you choose to go to, she will be an adult in the pricing zone...

Ohana dinner is also buffet style, but I have heard of some children receiving chicken nuggets and or mac/cheese.

As a PP indicated, if you are on the DDP then she is classified as an "adult." In this case, if you go to a non-buffet/fixed priced TS venue, you can always opt to pay out of pocket (OOP) and save her credit for use later. She can order from the children's menu, regardless of payment method. It’s just that the use of an adult credit for a child’s meal is not very economically efficient. However, if you are only planning one TS per day (and none are Signature), then there is no point in saving credits that you don’t end up using. At a buffet/fixed price TS venue, she will cost the same as you so you might as well use a credit for her.

If you are not on the dining plan, then pretty much the same is true. She can order from the children's menu at any non-buffet/fixed priced TS venue. However, at the buffets and fixed price (e.g., CRT) TS venues she will be charged as an adult.

We just fed DS at Captain Cooks (downstairs) before or after dinner and let him just color and hang out (there is plenty of entertainment there) while we ate. He was only 2...but if you're paying OOP, that might be an option (and a cheaper one.) With the dining plan now that he is older, we'll just him a kids meal...he's pretty picky.

If she joins you at the table for breakfast, you will pay for her as a guest aged 10 and up. You pay for the entertainment factor as well as the food for Ohana.

The food is served on a big platter and you serve yourself whatever you like from the platter. If you need more of a specific item, you request more.

That won't work for the OP.

In your case, the child was 2. You would not have had to pay for them because of his age. Children under the age of 3 are free.

For the OP, the child is 10. Ohana is a set price meal based off of age for breakfast and dinner. If you are there, you pay for your meal based off of your age. So, either you pay the adult price out of pocket or you pay with your adult credit. Even if the child orders from the "kids" menu, it is still the same cost and they are welcome to still eat some of the food brought to the table. Also, the "kids" menu items are NOT all you can eat, but a single serving.

If on any Dining Plan if the child is ten or older they must pay for the plan as an adult.

If not on a dining plan, there are two choices:
1) if there is a menu, you pay for what is ordered and there is no age restriction for using a "child" menu.
2) If there is no menu; it is all you can eat (such as 'Ohana or a buffet), so for a child age ten or older you pay the adult price.

Disney loves your money, so when you reach 10 years old you are an adult at Disney. If you press the point your 10 year old children could dine in a restaurant without you...it's been done many times.

There are seriously a lot of 10 year olds that dine alone?

No, MissionMouse was letting the snarkiness out. Disney charges 10 year olds as adults in the parks, since usually that age is above the height restrictions on attractions. Disney made 10 years old the age for restaurants, too. Even though there are many kids that age that don't eat like adults, that's just for the purpose of buffets and all you care to eat meals.

You can order anything off a menu for a 10 year old at other restaurants. But as others have said, if you pre-paid for the Disney Dining Plan, you were already charged the adult price for the 10 year old.

IMO, Disney charges 10 year olds the adult price, because they know most parents will fib for about 2 years, meaning Disney will have 12 year olds and up paying the adult price, which is what they want. If the cut-off for adults were 12 years old, everyone would stretch it to 14.

Disney and every parent knows that a child's appetite really kicks in around 12. When our boys were 10, they ate next to nothing, which is why we avoided buffets and one-price dining places except for one character meal each trip.

Just my opinion. Take it for what it's worth.

Yes, you will have to pay the adult price for your DD since she is 10. She can however order something off the kids menu if she does'nt want to eat the other food.

My dd will just have turned 11 when we go in May. Even tho she will like to order things like steaks, off the adult menu, the portion size is going to be waste, most likely. I wish they had a price range between the kid and adult price, but I suppose that would call for an additional menu for that age group and be too complicated....

I knew about the breakfast buffet and will use an adult credit for that.

I was simply wondering if there was a children's menu available for the evening and if it was a single serving menu.

Anyway I have checked the plan I made for my dining credits and I had set aside an adult credit for this meal so will leave plans as they are.

Thanks all for input.:thumbsup2
