I am wondering if August 21-27 will be crowded since they are offering the free dining. However, according the park hours, they are lower that week (some starting the week before) in most of the parks, especially MGM and Animal Kingdom.

Also, according to Expedia, rooms are still available at most resorts (except for All Star Movies, Polynesian, and a few select says at Pop that week). They all show available through Travelocity.

I went back in May 14-21 and the crowds weren't too bad... we decided to go back in Aug. 21-27 to take advantage of the offer, so I hope the crowds may be even better during this time??? what do you all think?

Traditionally they are lower at that time - schools are back in many regions, college kids returning to campus, etc. This year may be slightly different, but I doubt crowds will be at mid-summer levels. I'd definitely make dining plans to ensure you get your choice of seating, etc. DTD is busy at night and the weekends. Park crowds are usually not overwhelming at this time and, as you pointed out, the hours reflect that.

Hours are always scaled back right around mid-August at WDW. It will definitely be busier than mid-May when all schools are still in session. In mid to late August, most schools in the North are still out, however schools in the south are back in session by that point in time. So while it won't be as bad as say July 4th weekend, I would still anticipate fairly heavy crowds. Last August was busier than it had been in previous years and this year crowds have been up all year. Better to be prepared than to be disappointed. This summer, the MK is busier than I've ever seen it in the summer. Personally, I can't wait for September.

most schools up north aren't back to school yet the week of Aug. 21st? ... well I know in May when I went last, there were a lot of college students

We'll be there that week, too, dcibrando! Just go and have fun. don't worry about crowds, etc. You're in Disney!

What ride are you going to do first?!?!?!

well I think our first day is going to be at MGM... so probably Tower of Terror or RRC

We will also be there that week, we always head to MK and straight into Tommorwland for Space Mt!
